¹As they spoke to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came to them,

¹ هنوز سخن ایشان با قوم به پایان نرسیده بود كه كاهنان به اتّفاق فرماندهٔ پاسداران معبد بزرگ و پیروان فرقهٔ صدوقی بر سر آنان ریختند.

²being upset because they taught the people and proclaimed in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

² آنان از اینكه رسولان، قوم را تعلیم می‌دادند و به اتّكای رستاخیز عیسی، رستاخیز مردگان را اعلام می‌کردند، سخت ناراحت شده بودند.

³They laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was now evening.

³ پس پطرس و یوحنا را گرفتند و چون نزدیک غروب بود تا روز بعد ایشان را در زندان نگه داشتند،

⁴But many of those who heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

⁴ امّا بسیاری از کسانی‌که آن پیام را شنیده بودند، ایمان آوردند و تعداد مردان ایشان به حدود پنج هزار نفر رسید.

⁵It happened in the morning, that their rulers, elders, and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem.

⁵ روز بعد، رهبران یهود و مشایخ و علما در اورشلیم جلسه‌ای تشكیل دادند.

⁶Annas the high priest was there, with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and as many as were relatives of the high priest.

⁶ «حنا» كاهن اعظم و قیافا و یوحنا و اسكندر و همهٔ اعضای خانوادهٔ كاهن اعظم حضور داشتند.

⁷When they had stood them in the middle of them, they inquired, “By what power, or in what name, have you done this?”

⁷ رسولان را احضار كردند و از آنان سؤال نمودند: «با چه قدرت و به چه نامی این كار را کرده‌اید؟»

⁸Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “You rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

⁸ پطرس پر از روح‌القدس جواب داد: «ای سران قوم و ای مشایخ اسرائیل،

⁹if we are examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed,

⁹ اگر امروز به‌خاطر کار نیكویی كه در مورد یک مرد علیل انجام شد، از ما بازپرسی می‌کنید و می‌خواهید بدانید كه او به چه وسیله شفا یافته است،

¹⁰be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, in him does this man stand here before you whole.

¹⁰ همهٔ شما و همهٔ قوم اسرائیل بدانید كه این مرد که امروز به قدرت نام عیسی مسیح ناصری، كه شما او را روی صلیب كشتید و خدا او را زنده گردانید، کاملاً شفا یافته و ایستاده است.

¹¹He is ‘the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.’ Psalm 118:22

¹¹ این همان سنگی است كه شما بنّایان آن را خوار شمردید و رد كردید، ولی اکنون مهمترین سنگ بنا شده است.

¹²There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”

¹² در هیچ‌كس دیگر، رستگاری نیست و در زیر آسمان هیچ نامی جز نام عیسی به مردم عطا نشده است تا به وسیلهٔ آن نجات یابیم.»

¹³Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled. They recognized that they had been with Jesus.

¹³ وقتی آنان جسارت پطرس و یوحنا را مشاهده كردند و پی بردند كه افرادی درس نخوانده و معمولی هستند، متعجّب شدند و دانستند كه از یاران عیسی بوده‌اند.

¹⁴Seeing the man who was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

¹⁴ وقتی شخص شفا یافته را همراه پطرس و یوحنا دیدند، نتوانستند گفتار آنان را تكذیب نمایند.

¹⁵But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

¹⁵ پس به ایشان امر كردند، كه از شورا بیرون بروند و سپس دربارهٔ این موضوع مشغول بحث شدند

¹⁶saying, “What shall we do to these men? Because indeed a notable miracle has been done through them, as can be plainly seen by all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we can’t deny it.

¹⁶ و گفتند: «با این افراد چه كنیم؟ چون همهٔ ساكنان اورشلیم می‌دانند كه معجزه‌ای چشمگیر به وسیلهٔ ایشان انجام شده است و ما نمی‌توانیم منكر آن بشویم.

¹⁷But so that this spreads no further among the people, let’s threaten them, that from now on they don’t speak to anyone in this name.”

¹⁷ امّا برای اینكه این جریان در میان قوم بیش از این شایع نشود، به آنان اخطار كنیم، كه دیگر دربارهٔ عیسی با كسی سخن نگویند.»

¹⁸They called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

¹⁸ آنگاه آنان را احضار كردند و به ایشان اخطار نمودند كه به هیچ وجه به نام عیسی چیزی اظهار نكنند و تعلیمی ندهند.

¹⁹But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, judge for yourselves,

¹⁹ پطرس و یوحنا در پاسخ گفتند: «خودتان قضاوت كنید: در نظر خدا چه چیز درست است؟ از خدا اطاعت كنیم یا از شما؟

²⁰for we can’t help telling the things which we saw and heard.”

²⁰ امّا ما نمی‌توانیم از گفتن آنچه دیده‌ایم و شنیده‌ایم، دست برداریم.»

²¹When they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, because of the people; for everyone glorified God for that which was done.

²¹ آنان پطرس و یوحنا را پس از تهدید بسیار مرخّص كردند، زیرا راهی نیافتند تا ایشان را تنبیه نمایند. از آن رو كه همه خدا را برای آنچه صورت گرفته بود، حمد می‌گفتند.

²²For the man on whom this miracle of healing was performed was more than forty years old.

²² مردی كه این معجزهٔ شفا در مورد او انجام شده بود، بیش از چهل سال داشت.

²³Being let go, they came to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them.

²³ به محض اینكه این دو شاگرد از آنجا مرخّص شدند، پیش دوستان خود بازگشتند و چیزهایی را كه سران كاهنان و مشایخ به آنان گفته بودند، بازگو كردند.

²⁴When they heard it, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, “O Lord, you are God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them;

²⁴ وقتی ایمانداران باخبر شدند، همه با هم به درگاه خدا دعا كردند و گفتند: «ای پروردگار، خالق آسمان و زمین و دریا و آنچه در آنهاست،

²⁵who by the mouth of your servant, David, said, ‘Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing?

²⁵ تو به وسیلهٔ روح‌القدس از زبان جدّ ما داوود بندهٔ خود فرمودی: 'چرا مردم جهان شورش می‌کنند و قومها به باطل می‌اندیشند.

²⁶The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take council together, against the Lord, and against his Christ Christ (Greek) and Messiah (Hebrew) both mean Anointed One. .’ Psalm 2:1-2

²⁶ پادشاهان جهان بر می‌‌خیزند و حكمرانان ایشان اجتماع می‌کنند، علیه خداوند و علیه مسیح او.'

²⁷“For truly, in this city against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together

²⁷ در واقع در همین شهر برضد بندهٔ مقدّس تو عیسی كه تو منصوب فرمودی، اجتماع كردند. هیرودیس و پنطیوس پیلاطس، با غیر یهودیان و قوم اسرائیل دست به دست هم دادند

²⁸to do whatever your hand and your council foreordained to happen.

²⁸ و همهٔ کارهایی را كه تو با قدرت و ارادهٔ خود از پیش مقرّر فرموده بودی به انجام رسانیدند.

²⁹Now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness,

²⁹ اكنون ای خداوند تهدیدات آنان را ملاحظه فرما و بندگانت را توانا گردان تا پیام تو را با شهامت بیان كنند.

³⁰while you stretch out your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of your holy Servant Jesus.”

³⁰ دست خود را به جهت شفا دادن و جاری ساختن عجایب و معجزاتی كه به نام بندهٔ مقدّس تو عیسی انجام می‌گیرد دراز كن.»

³¹When they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were gathered together. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

³¹ هنگامی‌كه دعایشان به پایان رسید، ساختمان محل اجتماع آنان به لرزه درآمد و همه از روح‌القدس پر گشتند و كلام خدا را با شهامت بیان می‌کردند.

³²The multitude of those who believed were of one heart and soul. Not one of them claimed that anything of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.

³² همهٔ مؤمنان از دل و جان متّحد شده بودند و هیچ‌کس دارایی خود را از آن خود نمی‌دانست؛ بلكه همه در اموال یكدیگر شریک بودند.

³³With great power, the apostles gave their testimony of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Great grace was on them all.

³³ رسولان به رستاخیز عیسی خداوند با قدرتی عظیم شهادت می‌دادند و خدا بركت فراوانی به آنها عطا می‌فرمود.

³⁴For neither was there among them any who lacked, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,

³⁴ هیچ‌كس در میان ایشان محتاج نبود. زیرا هرکس زمینی یا خانه‌ای داشت آن را می‌فروخت، پولش را در می‌آورد

³⁵and laid them at the apostles’ feet, and distribution was made to each, according as anyone had need.

³⁵ و در اختیار رسولان می‌گذاشت و به این ترتیب بین محتاجان به نسبت احتیاجشان تقسیم می‌شد.

³⁶Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas (which is, being interpreted, Son of Encouragement), a Levite, a man of Cyprus by race,

³⁶ مثلاً یوسف كه رسولان او را برنابا یعنی تشویق كننده می‌نامیدند و از طایفهٔ لاوی و اهل قبرس بود زمینی داشت. آن را فروخت و پولش را در اختیار رسولان گذاشت.

³⁷having a field, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

³⁷ زمینی داشت. آن را فروخت و پولش را در اختیار رسولان گذاشت.
