¹But Saul, still breathing threats and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,

¹ شائول از تهدید و كشتن پیروان خداوند به هیچ نحوی دست بردار نبود. او پیش كاهن اعظم رفت

²and asked for letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

² و تقاضای معرّفی ‌نامه‌هایی برای كنیسه‌های دمشق كرد تا چنانچه مرد یا زنی را از اهل طریقت پیدا كند آنها را دستگیر كرده به اورشلیم آورد.

³As he traveled, it happened that he got close to Damascus, and suddenly a light from the sky shone around him.

³ شائول هنوز به دمشق نرسیده بود، كه ناگهان نزدیک شهر نوری از آسمان در اطراف او تابید.

⁴He fell on the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”

⁴ او به زمین افتاد و صدایی شنید كه می‌گفت: «ای شائول، شائول، چرا بر من جفا می‌کنی؟»

⁵He said, “Who are you, Lord?” The Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. TR adds “It’s hard for you to kick against the goads.”

⁵ شائول پرسید: «خداوندا تو كیستی؟» پاسخ آمد: «من عیسی هستم، همان كسی‌كه تو بر او جفا می‌کنی،

⁶ But TR omits “But” rise up, and enter into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

⁶ ولی برخیز و به شهر برو و در آنجا به تو گفته خواهد شد كه چه باید بكنی.»

⁷The men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the sound, but seeing no one.

⁷ در این هنگام همسفران شائول خاموش ماندند، زیرا اگرچه صدا را می‌شنیدند، ولی كسی را نمی‌دیدند.

⁸Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened, he saw no one. They led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.

⁸ پس شائول از زمین برخاست و با اینكه چشمانش باز بود، چیزی نمی‌دید. دستش را گرفتند و او را به دمشق هدایت كردند.

⁹He was without sight for three days, and neither ate nor drank.

⁹ در آنجا سه روز نابینا ماند و چیزی نخورد و ننوشید.

¹⁰Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias!” He said, “Behold, it’s me, Lord.”

¹⁰ یكی از ایمانداران به نام حنانیا در شهر دمشق زندگی می‌کرد. خداوند در رؤیا به او ظاهر شد و فرمود: «ای حنانیا.» او پاسخ داد: «بله ای خداوند، آماده‌ام.»

¹¹The Lord said to him, “Arise, and go to the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judah or, Judas for one named Saul, a man of Tarsus. For behold, he is praying,

¹¹ خداوند فرمود: «برخیز و به کوچه‌ای كه آن را 'راست' می‌نامند برو و در خانهٔ یهودا سراغ شخصی به نام شائول طرسوسی را بگیر. او به دعا مشغول است

¹² and in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in, and laying his hands on him, that he might receive his sight.”

¹² و در رؤیا مردی را دیده است به نام حنانیا كه می‌آید و بر او دست می‌گذارد و بینایی او را باز می‌گرداند.»

¹³But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he did to your saints at Jerusalem.

¹³ حنانیا عرض كرد: «خداوندا دربارهٔ این شخص و آن‌همه آزار كه او به قوم تو در اورشلیم رسانیده است، چیزهایی شنیده‌ام

¹⁴Here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.”

¹⁴ و حالا از طرف سران كاهنان اختیار یافته و به اینجا آمده است تا همهٔ كسانی را كه به تو روی می‌آوردند دستگیر كند.»

¹⁵But the Lord said to him, “Go your way, for he is my chosen vessel to bear my name before the nations and kings, and the children of Israel.

¹⁵ امّا خداوند به او گفت: «تو باید بروی زیرا این شخص وسیله‌ای است كه من انتخاب کرده‌ام تا نام مرا به ملّتها و پادشاهان آنان و قوم اسرائیل اعلام نماید.

¹⁶ For I will show him how many things he must suffer for my name’s sake.”

¹⁶ خود من به او نشان خواهم داد كه چه رنجهای بسیاری به‌خاطر نام من متحمّل خواهد شد.»

¹⁷Ananias departed, and entered into the house. Laying his hands on him, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord, who appeared to you on the road by which you came, has sent me, that you may receive your sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

¹⁷ پس حنانیا رفت، وارد آن خانه شد و دست بر شائول گذاشت و گفت: «ای برادر، ای شائول، خداوند یعنی همان عیسایی كه بین راه به تو ظاهر شد، مرا فرستاده است تا تو بینایی خود را بازیابی و از روح‌القدس پر گردی.»

¹⁸Immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he received his sight. He arose and was baptized.

¹⁸ در همان لحظه چیزی مانند پوسته از چشمان شائول افتاد و بینایی خود را بازیافت و برخاسته تعمید گرفت.

¹⁹He took food and was strengthened. Saul stayed several days with the disciples who were at Damascus.

¹⁹ بعد از آن غذا خورد و قوّت گرفت. شائول مدّتی در دمشق با ایمانداران به سر برد

²⁰Immediately in the synagogues he proclaimed the Christ, that he is the Son of God.

²⁰ و طولی نكشید كه در كنیسه‌های دمشق به طور آشكار اعلام می‌کرد كه عیسی، پسر خداست.

²¹All who heard him were amazed, and said, “Isn’t this he who in Jerusalem made havoc of those who called on this name? And he had come here intending to bring them bound before the chief priests!”

²¹ هرکس سخنان او را می‌شنید در حیرت می‌افتاد و می‌گفت: «مگر این همان كسی نیست كه در اورشلیم کسانی‌که نام عیسی را به زبان می‌آوردند نابود می‌کرد؟ و آیا منظور او از آمدن به اینجا فقط این نیست كه آنان را بگیرد و به دست سران كاهنان بسپارد؟»

²²But Saul increased more in strength, and confounded the Jews who lived at Damascus, proving that this is the Christ.

²² امّا قدرت كلام شائول روزبه‌روز بیشتر می‌شد و یهودیان دمشق را با دلایل انكار ناپذیر مجاب می‌ساخت كه عیسی، مسیح موعود است.

²³When many days were fulfilled, the Jews conspired together to kill him,

²³ پس از مدّتی یهودیان توطئه كردند تا او را به قتل برسانند.

²⁴but their plot became known to Saul. They watched the gates both day and night that they might kill him,

²⁴ امّا شائول از نیّت آنان باخبر شد. یهودیان حتّی دروازه‌های شهر را شب و روز تحت نظر داشتند تا او را بكشند،

²⁵but his disciples took him by night, and let him down through the wall, lowering him in a basket.

²⁵ ولی شاگردان او، شبانه او را داخل سبدی گذاشتند و از دیوار شهر او را به پایین فرستادند.

²⁶When Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join himself to the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.

²⁶ وقتی شائول به اورشلیم رسید سعی نمود به سایر شاگردان عیسی بپیوندد، امّا آنان از او می‌ترسیدند، زیرا قبول نمی‌كردند كه او واقعاً پیرو عیسی شده باشد.

²⁷But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared to them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus.

²⁷ به هر حال برنابا او را برداشت و به حضور رسولان آورد و برای ایشان شرح داد، كه چگونه او در راه دمشق خداوند را دیده و چطور خداوند با او سخن گفته و به چه ترتیب شائول در دمشق بی‌باكانه به نام عیسی وعظ كرده است.

²⁸He was with them entering into TR and NU add “and going out” Jerusalem,

²⁸ به این ترتیب شائول در اورشلیم با آنان رفت و آمد پیدا كرد و آشكارا بدون ترس به نام خداوند موعظه می‌کرد

²⁹preaching boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus. TR and NU omit “Jesus” and reverse the order of verses 28 & 29. He spoke and disputed against the Hellenists, The Hellenists were Hebrews who used Greek language and culture. but they were seeking to kill him.

²⁹ و با یهودیان یونانی زبان مباحثه و گفت‌وگو می‌نمود به طوری ‌كه آنان قصد جان او را داشتند.

³⁰When the brothers The word for “brothers” here and where the context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” knew it, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him off to Tarsus.

³⁰ وقتی ایماندران از این موضوع آگاه شدند شائول را به قیصریه رسانیدند و او را روانهٔ طرسوس كردند.

³¹So the assemblies throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace, and were built up. They were multiplied, walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

³¹ به این ‌ترتیب كلیسا در سراسر یهودیه و جلیل و سامره آرامش یافت. در حالی‌كه آنان در خداترسی و تقویت روح‌القدس به سر می‌بردند، كلیسا از لحاظ نیرو و تعداد رشد می‌کرد.

³²It happened, as Peter went throughout all those parts, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.

³² پطرس از همه‌جا دیدن می‌کرد و یک‌بار نیز به دیدن مقدّسین مقیم لده رفت.

³³There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden for eight years, because he was paralyzed.

³³ در آنجا شخصی را به نام اینیاس كه به مدّت هشت سال مفلوج و بستری بود، دید.

³⁴Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed!” Immediately he arose.

³⁴ پطرس به او گفت: «ای اینیاس، عیسی مسیح تو را شفا می‌بخشد. بلند شو و رختخواب خود را جمع كن.» او فوراً از جا برخاست

³⁵All who lived at Lydda and in Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord.

³⁵ و جمیع ساكنان لده و شارون او را دیدند و به خداوند روی آوردند.

³⁶Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which when translated, means Dorcas. “Dorcas” is Greek for “Gazelle.” This woman was full of good works and acts of mercy which she did.

³⁶ در یافا یكی از ایمانداران كه زنی به نام طبیتا بود زندگی می‌کرد (ترجمه یونانی نام او دوركاس به معنی آهوست.) این زن كه بسیار نیكوكار و بخشنده بود

³⁷It happened in those days that she fell sick, and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.

³⁷ در این زمان بیمار شد و فوت كرد. او را غسل دادند و در بالاخانه‌ای گذاشتند.

³⁸As Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men Reading from NU, TR; MT omits “two men” to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them.

³⁸ ایمانداران كه شنیده بودند، پطرس در لده است، به سبب نزدیكی لده به یافا دو نفر را پیش او فرستادند و تقاضا نمودند: «هرچه زودتر خود را به ما برسان.»

³⁹Peter got up and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper room. All the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.

³⁹ پطرس بی‌درنگ به اتّفاق آنان حركت كرد و همین‌که به آنجا رسید، او را به بالا خانه بردند. بیوه‌زنان گریه‌كنان دور او را گرفتند و همهٔ پیراهن‌ها و لباسهایی را كه دوركاس در زمان حیات خود دوخته بود به او نشان دادند.

⁴⁰Peter put them all out, and kneeled down and prayed. Turning to the body, he said, “Tabitha, get up!” She opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

⁴⁰ پطرس همهٔ آنان را از اتاق بیرون كرد. سپس زانو زد و دعا نمود و رو به جسد كرده گفت: «ای طبیتا برخیز.» او چشمان خود را گشود و وقتی پطرس را دید راست نشست.

⁴¹He gave her his hand, and raised her up. Calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.

⁴¹ پطرس دست خود را به او داد و او را روی پا بلند كرد. سپس مقدّسین و بیوه‌زنان را صدا زد و او را زنده به ایشان سپرد.

⁴²And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.

⁴² این موضوع در سراسر یافا منتشر شد و بسیاری به خداوند ایمان آوردند. پطرس روزهای زیادی در یافا ماند و با شمعون دباغ زندگی می‌کرد.

⁴³It happened, that he stayed many days in Joppa with one Simon, a tanner.

⁴³ پطرس روزهای زیادی در یافا ماند و با شمعون دباغ زندگی می‌کرد.
