¹In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, even to me, Daniel, after that which appeared to me at the first.

¹ در سال سوم سلطنت بلشصر خواب دیگری دیدم.

²I saw in the vision; now it was so, that when I saw, I was in the citadel of Susa, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in the vision, and I was by the river Ulai.

² در خواب دیدم که در شهر شوش، پایتخت استان عیلام، در کنار رود اولای ایستاده بودم.

³Then I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.

³ وقتی به اطراف نگاه می‌کردم، قوچی را دیدم که دو شاخ بلند داشت و در کنار رود ایستاده بود. بعد دیدم که یکی از این دو شاخ بلندتر شد.

⁴I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; and no animals could stand before him, neither was there any who could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and magnified himself.

⁴ این قوچ به‌ طرف مغرب، شمال و جنوب شاخ می‌زد و هیچ جانوری نمی‌‌توانست در مقابل او بایستد و یا از دست او فرار کند. هرچه دلش می‌خواست، می‌کرد و قویتر می‌شد.

⁵As I was considering, behold, a male goat came from the west over the surface of the whole earth, and didn’t touch the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.

⁵ هنگامی ‌که دربارهٔ این وقایع فکر می‌کردم، ناگهان یک بُز نر از غرب پیدا شد. او آن‌قدر به سرعت می‌دوید که پاهایش با زمین تماس پیدا نمی‌کرد. این بُز که یک شاخ در وسط چشمان خود داشت،

⁶He came to the ram that had the two horns, which I saw standing before the river, and ran on him in the fury of his power.

⁶ با تمام قدرت به طرف آن قوچ دو شاخ، که آن را در کنار نهر دیده بودم، دوید.

⁷I saw him come close to the ram, and he was moved with anger against him, and struck the ram, and broke his two horns; and there was no power in the ram to stand before him; but he cast him down to the ground, and trampled on him; and there was none who could deliver the ram out of his hand.

⁷ بعد با خشم زیاد به قوچ حمله کرد و هر دو شاخش را شکست و او را که قدرت مقاومت نداشت، به زمین انداخته پایمالش کرد و کسی نبود که قوچ را از دست او نجات بدهد.

⁸The male goat magnified himself exceedingly: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and instead of it there came up four notable horns toward the four winds of the sky.

⁸ آن بُز نر بی‌نهایت بزرگ شد امّا درحالی‌که به اوج قدرت خود رسیده بود، ناگهان شاخش شکست و به جای آن چهار شاخ بلند در چهار سمت مختلف درآمد.

⁹Out of one of them came forth a little horn, which grew exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the glorious land .

⁹ از یکی از این شاخها، شاخ کوچکی برآمد و رو به جنوب و مشرق و سرزمین وعده رشد کرد.

¹⁰It grew great, even to the army of the sky; and some of the army and of the stars it cast down to the ground, and trampled on them.

¹⁰ آن‌قدر نیرومند شد که علیه لشکر آسمانی برخاست و بعضی از ستارگان را بر زمین ریخت و پایمال کرد.

¹¹Yes, it magnified itself, even to the prince of the army; and it took away from him the continual burnt offering, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.

¹¹ او حتّی برضد فرمانروای لشکر آسمانی قیام کرده و از قربانی‌هایی که روزانه به او تقدیم می‌کردند جلوگیری نموده، معبد بزرگ وی را ویران کرد.

¹²The army was given over to it together with the continual burnt offering through disobedience; and it cast down truth to the ground, and it did its pleasure and prospered.

¹² به‌خاطر گناه قوم به او اجازه داده شد که قوی گردد و مانع تقدیم قربانی‌های روزانه شود. آن شاخ هرچه دلش خواست، انجام داد و حقیقت را زیر پا گذاشت.

¹³Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who spoke, How long shall be the vision concerning the continual burnt offering, and the disobedience that makes desolate, to give both the sanctuary and the army to be trodden under foot?

¹³ بعد شنیدم که دو فرشتهٔ مقدّس با هم گفت‌وگو می‌کردند. یکی از دیگری پرسید: «تا چه زمان قربانی‌های روزانه تقدیم نخواهند شد؟ تا چه موقع گناه و شرارت جریان خواهد داشت؟ تا چه وقت لشکر آسمانی و معبد بزرگ پایمال خواهد شد؟»

¹⁴He said to me, To two thousand and three hundred evenings and mornings; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

¹⁴ شنیدم که فرشتهٔ دیگر در جواب گفت: «دو هزار و سیصد روز طول خواهد کشید و در این مدّت قربانی‌های روزانه صبح و شام تقدیم نخواهند شد. بعد معبد بزرگ دوباره آباد خواهد شد.»

¹⁵It happened, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, that I sought to understand it; and behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.

¹⁵ وقتی کوشش می‌کردم که معنی خوابم را بدانم، ناگهان شخصی در برابر من ایستاد.

¹⁶I heard a man’s voice between the banks of the Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

¹⁶ صدایی را از آن طرف رود اولای شنیدم که می‌گفت: «ای جبرائیل، خواب دانیال را برایش تعبیر کن.»

¹⁷So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was frightened, and fell on my face: but he said to me, Understand, son of man; for the vision belongs to the time of the end.

¹⁷ پس جبرائیل نزد من آمد، من ترسیدم و رو به زمین افتادم. او به من گفت: «ای انسان فانی، آن خوابی را که دیدی مربوط به زمان آخر است.»

¹⁸Now as he was speaking with me, I fell into a deep sleep with my face toward the ground; but he touched me, and set me upright.

¹⁸ درحالی‌که او حرف می‌زد، من بیهوش بر زمین افتادم. امّا او مرا گرفت و از زمین بلند کرد

¹⁹He said, Behold, I will make you know what shall be in the latter time of the indignation; for it belongs to the appointed time of the end.

¹⁹ و گفت: «من آمده‌ام تا به تو نشان بدهم که نتیجهٔ خشم خداوند چه خواهد بود. خوابی را که دیدی دربارهٔ زمان آخر است.

²⁰The ram which you saw, that had the two horns, they are the kings of Media and Persia.

²⁰ «آن قوچ دو شاخ را که در خواب دیدی، سلطنت ماد و پارس است.

²¹The rough male goat is the king of Greece: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

²¹ بُز نر پادشاهی یونان است و شاخ بلندی که در وسط چشمانش بود، اولین پادشاه آن کشور می‌باشد.

²²As for that which was broken, in the place where four stood up, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not with his power.

²² شاخی که دیدی شکست و به جای آن چهار شاخ دیگر درآمد، به این معنی است که امپراتوری یونان چهار قسمت خواهد شد و هر قسمت پادشاهی برای خود خواهد داشت. امّا هیچ‌کدام به اندازهٔ پادشاه اول بزرگ نخواهد بود.

²³In the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors have come to the full, a king of fierce face, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

²³ «وقتی پایان سلطنت آنها نزدیک شود و شرارت ایشان نیز بسیار زیاد گردد، پادشاهی ستمکار و حیله‌گر برخواهد خاست.

²⁴His power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper and do his pleasure; and he shall destroy the mighty ones and the holy people.

²⁴ او دارای قدرت زیادی می‌شود امّا نه با نیروی خود. او عامل ویرانی‌های عظیم خواهد شد. مطابق میل خود کار خواهد کرد و بزرگان و قوم مقدّس خدا را خواهد کشت.

²⁵Through his policy he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and in their security shall he destroy many: he shall also stand up against the prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

²⁵ با مهارت، نقشه‌های فریبندهٔ خود را عملی خواهد نمود و با یک یورش ناگهانی عدّهٔ زیادی را از بین خواهد برد. به حدّی مغرور می‌گردد که علیه شاهِ شاهان شورش خواهد نمود امّا سرانجام نابود می‌شود، ولی نه به دست انسان.

²⁶The vision of the evenings and mornings which has been told is true: but seal up the vision; for it belongs to many days to come.

²⁶ خوابی را هم که دربارهٔ قربانی‌های روزانهٔ صبح و شام دیدی به انجام خواهد رسید امّا اکنون تو این خواب را پنهان نگه‌دار، زیرا در آیندهٔ خیلی دور عملی خواهد شد.» سپس برای چند روز ضعیف و بیمار شدم. سپس برخاستم و همچون گذشته به کارهایی ‌که پادشاه به من سپرده بود، مشغول شدم. امّا خوابی که دیده بودم، فکر مرا مشغول کرده بود، زیرا دانستن آن برای من مشکل بود.

²⁷I, Daniel, fainted, and was sick certain days; then I rose up, and did the king’s business: and I wondered at the vision, but none understood it.

²⁷ سپس برای چند روز ضعیف و بیمار شدم. سپس برخاستم و همچون گذشته به کارهایی ‌که پادشاه به من سپرده بود، مشغول شدم. امّا خوابی که دیده بودم، فکر مرا مشغول کرده بود، زیرا دانستن آن برای من مشکل بود.
