¹If there arise in the midst of you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and he give you a sign or a wonder,

¹ «اگر در بین شما انبیا و یا تعبیرکنندگان خواب وجود داشته باشند که به شما وعدهٔ معجز‌ه‌ای بدهند

²and the sign or the wonder come to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, “Let us go after other gods” (which you have not known) “and let us serve them”;

² و آن معجزه هم تحقّق یابد، اگر آن وقت بگویند: 'بیایید که خدایان مردم دیگر را که شما هرگز نپرستیده‌اید، پرستش کنیم،'

³you shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or to that dreamer of dreams: for Yahweh your God proves you, to know whether you love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

³ به حرفهای ایشان توجّه نکنید. خداوند خدایتان از ایشان استفاده می‌کند تا شما را آزمایش کند و ببیند که شما خداوند را با تمام دل و جان دوست دارید.

⁴You shall walk after Yahweh your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and you shall serve him, and cling to him.

⁴ شما باید تنها از خداوند خدایتان پیروی کنید، فقط از او بترسید، احکام او را بجا آورید، او را بپرستید و به او وفادار باشید.

⁵That prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death, because he has spoken rebellion against Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to draw you aside out of the way which Yahweh your God commanded you to walk in. So you shall put away the evil from the midst of you.

⁵ آن انبیا و تعبیرکنندگان خواب که می‌گویند علیه خداوند، خدایی که شما را از بردگی در مصر نجات داد، سرکشی کنید، باید کشته شوند. چنین اشخاصی شرور هستند و ایشان، شما را از راهی که خداوند فرمان داده است، دور می‌کنند. آنها باید کشته شوند تا از این فتنه رهایی یابید.

⁶If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend, who is as your own soul, entice you secretly, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods,” which you have not known, you, nor your fathers;

⁶ «اگر کسی حتّی برادر، پسر، دختر، زن یا صمیمی‌ترین دوستتان، در خفا شما را تشویق کند و بگوید که بیایید خدایان دیگر را که هم برای شما و هم برای اجدادتان بیگانه هستند، بپرستیم

⁷of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near to you, or far off from you, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth;

⁷ یا یکی از آنها شما را تشویق نماید که خدایان مردمی را که در نزدیکی شما زندگی می‌کنند یا خدایان اقوام سرزمینهای دوردست را بپرستید،

⁸you shall not consent to him, nor listen to him; neither shall your eye pity him, neither shall you spare, neither shall you conceal him:

⁸ شما نباید قبول کنید و به حرف او گوش بدهید. به او رحم و شفقت نشان ندهید و از او محافظت نکنید.

⁹but you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

⁹ او را بکشید و دست خودتان، اولین دستی باشد که او را سنگسار کند و بعد دستهای تمام قوم.

¹⁰You shall stone him to death with stones, because he has sought to draw you away from Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

¹⁰ او را سنگسار کنید زیرا او می‌خواهد شما را از خداوند خدایتان که شما را از بردگی در مصر نجات داد، دور کند.

¹¹All Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall not do any more such wickedness as this is in the midst of you.

¹¹ آنگاه همهٔ مردم اسرائیل خواهند شنید که چه اتّفاقی افتاده است، آنها خواهند ترسید و دیگر هرگز ‌کسی دست به چنین شرارتی نخواهد زد.

¹²If you shall hear tell concerning one of your cities, which Yahweh your God gives you to dwell there, saying,

¹² «وقتی در شهرهایی که خداوند خدایتان برای سکونت به شما می‌دهد ساکن شوید، ممکن است بشنوید

¹³Certain base fellows are gone out from the midst of you, and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods,” which you have not known;

¹³ که اشخاص فرومایه‌ای از قوم شما در شهر خود، مردم را گمراه کرده‌اند تا خدایانی را که شما هرگز پرستش نکرد‌ه‌اید، پرستش کنند.

¹⁴then you shall inquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is done in the midst of you,

¹⁴ اگر شما چنین شایعه‌ای شنیدید، با دقّت تحقیق کنید و اگر حقیقت داشت که چنین کار پلیدی انجام شده است،

¹⁵you shall surely strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein and its livestock, with the edge of the sword.

¹⁵ آنگاه همهٔ مردم شهر را بکُشید و گلّه‌های آن شهر را کاملاً نابود کنید.

¹⁶You shall gather all its spoil into the midst of its street, and shall burn with fire the city, and all its spoil every whit, to Yahweh your God: and it shall be a heap forever; it shall not be built again.

¹⁶ تمام دارایی مردم آنجا را در میدان شهر جمع کنید، آنگاه شهر و هرآنچه در آن است را بسوزانید و به عنوان قربانی به خداوند خدایتان تقدیم کنید. آن شهر باید برای همیشه ویرانه بماند و هرگز بازسازی نشود.

¹⁷Nothing of the devoted thing shall cling to your hand; that Yahweh may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and show you mercy, and have compassion on you, and multiply you, as he has sworn to your fathers;

¹⁷ از آنچه که حرام شده برای خود برندارید. آنگاه خداوند از شدّت خشم خود بازخواهد گشت و رحم و شفقت نشان خواهد داد و همان‌طور که به نیاکانتان وعده داد بود، به تعداد شما خواهد افزود، به شرطی که از احکام خداوند خدایتان که امروز به شما اعلام می‌کنم، پیروی نمایید و آنچه را که مورد پسند اوست، بجا آورید.

¹⁸when you shall listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, to keep all his commandments which I command you this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of Yahweh your God.

¹⁸ به شرطی که از احکام خداوند خدایتان که امروز به شما اعلام می‌کنم، پیروی نمایید و آنچه را که مورد پسند اوست، بجا آورید.
