¹The priests the Levites, all the tribe of Levi, shall have no portion nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of Yahweh made by fire, and his inheritance.

¹ «طایفه کاهنان لاوی از زمین‌های اسرائیل سهمی نخواهند داشت. در عوض، زندگی آنها به وسیلهٔ هدایا و قربانی‌هایی که به خداوند تقدیم می‌شود، تأمین گردد.

²They shall have no inheritance among their brothers: Yahweh is their inheritance, as he has spoken to them.

² آنها نباید زمینی داشته باشند؛ زیرا امتیاز کاهن خداوند بودن، سهم آنها می‌باشد، همان‌طور که خداوند وعده داده است.

³This shall be the priests’ due from the people, from those who offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep, that they shall give to the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw.

³ «هرگاه گاو یا گوسفندی را قربانی می‌کنید، شانه، دو بناگوش و شکمبه را به کاهنان بدهید.

⁴The first fruits of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the first of the fleece of your sheep, you shall give him.

⁴ همچنین نوبر محصولات، شراب، روغن زیتون و پشم گوسفندان را به آنها بدهید.

⁵For Yahweh your God has chosen him out of all your tribes, to stand to minister in the name of Yahweh, him and his sons for ever.

⁵ خداوند از میان همهٔ شما طایفهٔ لاوی را برگزید تا برای همیشه کاهنان خدمتگزار او باشند.

⁶If a Levite comes from any of your gates out of all Israel, where he lives as a foreigner, and comes with all the desire of his soul to the place which Yahweh shall choose;

⁶ «هر فرد لاوی از هر شهر سرزمین اسرائیل که باشد، می‌تواند به مکانی که خداوند برای پرستش خود برگزیده بیاید

⁷then he shall minister in the name of Yahweh his God, as all his brothers the Levites do, who stand there before Yahweh.

⁷ و می‌تواند به عنوان کاهن خداوند خدای خود، خدمت کند، مانند دیگر لاویان که آنجا خدمت می‌کنند.

⁸They shall have like portions to eat, besides that which comes of the sale of his patrimony.

⁸ به او باید به اندازهٔ کاهنان دیگر سهم غذا برسد و می‌تواند هر آنچه را که خانوادهٔ او برایش می‌فرستند، نگاه دارد.

⁹When you have come into the land which Yahweh your God gives you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.

⁹ «وقتی به سرزمینی که خداوند خدایتان به شما داده است، وارد شدید از آداب زشت مردمی که در آنجا هستند، پیروی نکنید.

¹⁰There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer,

¹⁰ فرزندان خود را در آتش قربانگاه قربانی نکنید. از فالگیری، غیبگویی، رمالی و جادوگری بپرهیزید. با ارواح مردگان مشورت نکنید.

¹¹or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

¹¹ خداوند خدایتان از مردمی که این کارهای زشت را انجام می‌دهند، بیزار است و به همین دلیل است که مردم آن سرزمینها را در زمانی که شما پیشروی می‌کنید، بیرون می‌راند.

¹²For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh: and because of these abominations Yahweh your God does drive them out from before you.

¹² کاملاً به خداوند وفادار باشید.

¹³You shall be perfect with Yahweh your God.

¹³ «مردمی که سرزمین ایشان را تصاحب می‌کنید، به غیبگویان و فالگیران گوش می‌دهند، ولی خداوند خدایتان اجازه نمی‌دهد که شما چنین کنید.

¹⁴For these nations, that you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice sorcery, and to diviners; but as for you, Yahweh your God has not allowed you so to do.

¹⁴ خداوند خدایتان از بین شما یک نبی‌ مانند من برای شما برمی‌انگیزاند. شما باید از او پیروی کنید.

¹⁵Yahweh your God will raise up to you a prophet from the midst of you, of your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him.

¹⁵ «روزی که در پایین کوه سینا جمع شده بودید گفتید: 'اگر بار دیگر آواز خداوند خدای خود را بشنویم و یا آن آتش حضور خداوند را ببینیم، از ترس می‌میریم.'

¹⁶This is according to all that you desired of Yahweh your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, “Let me not hear again the voice of Yahweh my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I not die.”

¹⁶ آنگاه خداوند به من فرمود: آنچه گفتند بجاست.

¹⁷Yahweh said to me, “They have well said that which they have spoken.

¹⁷ من از بین آنها یک نبی مانند تو برای ایشان می‌فرستم. من به او خواهم گفت که چه بگوید و او به مردم همهٔ فرامین مرا خواهد گفت.

¹⁸I will raise them up a prophet from among their brothers, like you; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.

¹⁸ او به نام من سخن خواهد گفت و هرکس را که از او اطاعت نکند، مجازات خواهم کرد.

¹⁹It shall happen, that whoever will not listen to my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

¹⁹ امّا اگر نبی‌ای جرأت کند به نام من سخن بگوید، هنگامی‌که من به او فرمان نداده باشم، او باید برای این کار بمیرد و همچنین هر نبی‌ای که به نام خدایان دیگر سخن بگوید.

²⁰But the prophet, who shall speak a word presumptuously in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who shall speak in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.”

²⁰ «شما ممکن است از خود بپرسید، چگونه می‌توان فهمید که پیام نبی از طرف خداوند نیست. اگر نبی‌ای به نام خداوند سخن بگوید و آنچه گفته است به حقیقت نپیوندد، آن پیام از خداوند نیست. آن نبی از طرف خودش سخن گفته است و شما نباید از او بترسید.

²¹If you say in your heart, “How shall we know the word which Yahweh has not spoken?”

²¹ اگر نبی‌ای به نام خداوند سخن بگوید و آنچه گفته است به حقیقت نپیوندد، آن پیام از خداوند نیست. آن نبی از طرف خودش سخن گفته است و شما نباید از او بترسید.

²²when a prophet speaks in the name of Yahweh, if the thing doesn’t follow, nor happen, that is the thing which Yahweh has not spoken: the prophet has spoken it presumptuously, you shall not be afraid of him.
