¹Yahweh said to Moses, “Chisel two stone tablets like the first: and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.

¹ خداوند به موسی فرمود: «دو لوح سنگی آماده کن و من همان احکامی‌ را که در لوح‌های اولیه نوشته شده بودند و تو آنها را شکستی، می‌نویسم.

²Be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain.

² فردا صبح آماده باش و به کوه سینا برو و بر قلّهٔ کوه در حضور من حاضر شو.

³No one shall come up with you; neither let anyone be seen throughout all the mountain; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mountain.”

³ هیچ‌کس نباید با تو بیاید و کسی هم در اطراف کوه دیده نشود. به هیچ گلّه و رمه‌ای هم اجازه نده که در نزدیکی کوه بچرد.»

⁴He chiseled two tablets of stone like the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up to Mount Sinai, as Yahweh had commanded him, and took in his hand two stone tablets.

⁴ پس موسی همان‌طور که خداوند فرموده بود دو لوح سنگی مانند لوح‌های اول آماده کرد و صبح هنگام برخاست و لوح‌ها را با خود گرفته بالای کوه سینا رفت.

⁵Yahweh descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of Yahweh.

⁵ خداوند در یک ستون ابر پایین آمد و در برابر او ایستاد و نام مقدّس خود، یعنی خداوند را به او اعلام کرد

⁶Yahweh passed by before him, and proclaimed, “Yahweh! Yahweh, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth,

⁶ خداوند از برابر او گذشت و ندا داد: «من خداوند خدای بخشنده و مهربان و دیر خشم و سرشار از محبّت پایدار و وفاداری هستم.

⁷keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and disobedience and sin; and that will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the children’s children, on the third and on the fourth generation.”

⁷ بر هزاران نسل محبّت پایدار خود را نگه می‌دارم و بخشایندهٔ خطا و گناه هستم، امّا گناه را بدون جزا نمی‌گذارم، بلکه انتقام خطاهای پدران را از پسران و پسرانِ پسران ایشان را تا نسل سوم و چهارم می‌گیرم.»

⁸Moses hurried and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped.

⁸ آنگاه موسی سر به سجده نهاده گفت: «خداوندا، اگر به راستی در درگاه تو قبول شده‌ام، تمنّا می‌کنم که تو نیز همراه ما باشی. البتّه می‌دانم که این قوم، مردم نافرمان و سرکشی هستند، ولی باز از پیشگاهت التماس می‌کنم که گناه و خطای ما را ببخشی و ما را به پیشگاهت بپذیری.»

⁹He said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, Lord, please let the Lord go in the midst of us; although this is a stiff-necked people; pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.”

⁹ خداوند در جواب او فرمود: «من اکنون با شما پیمان می‌بندم و در مقابل چشمان تمام قوم چنان معجزاتی نشان می‌دهم که در هیچ جای دنیا و در بین هیچ ملّتی دیده نشده باشد. و تمام مردم اسرائیل قدرت خداوند را خواهند دید، زیرا من کاری عجیب در میان شما انجام خواهم داد.

¹⁰He said, “Behold, I make a covenant: before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been worked in all the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people among which you are shall see the work of Yahweh; for it is an awesome thing that I do with you.

¹⁰ احکامی‌ را که من امروز به شما می‌دهم اطاعت کنید. آنگاه من تمام اموریان، کنعانیان، حِتّیان، فرزیان، حویان و یبوسیان را از سر راه شما دور می‌کنم.

¹¹Observe that which I command you this day. Behold, I drive out before you the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

¹¹ امّا هوشیار باشید که به سرزمینی که می‌روید با مردم آنجا پیمان نبندید، مبادا در دام ایشان گرفتار شوید.

¹²Be careful, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be for a snare in the midst of you:

¹² بلکه تو باید قربانگاههای آنها را ویران کنی، ستونهای ایشان را بشکنی و نشانه‌های الههٔ اشره را از بین ببری.

¹³but you shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and you shall cut down their Asherim;

¹³ «خدایان دیگر را پرستش نکنید، زیرا من، خداوند غیور هستم.

¹⁴for you shall worship no other god: for Yahweh, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

¹⁴ هیچ‌گاه نباید با مردم آن سرزمین پیمان ببندید، زیرا وقتی آنها برای خدایان خود قربانی می‌کنند، شما را دعوت می‌کنند که به آنها بپیوندید و از قربانی آنها بخورید.

¹⁵“Don’t make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, lest they play the prostitute after their gods, and sacrifice to their gods, and one call you and you eat of his sacrifice;

¹⁵ «چون دختران ایشان را برای پسران خود بگیرید، وقتی آن دختران بُتهای خود را پرستش کنند، پسران شما را نیز به بت‌پرستی وادار می‌نمایند.

¹⁶and you take of their daughters to your sons, and their daughters play the prostitute after their gods, and make your sons play the prostitute after their gods.

¹⁶ «خدایان ساخته شده را عبادت نكنید.

¹⁷“You shall make no cast idols for yourselves.

¹⁷ «عید فطیر را برگزار کنید. هفت روز نان فطیر بخورید. این مراسم را در زمان معیّن، یعنی در ماه ابیب، طبق دستوری که به شما داده‌ام برگزار نمایید، زیرا در همین ماه بود که شما از مصر خارج شدید.

¹⁸“You shall keep the feast of unleavened bread. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month Abib; for in the month Abib you came out from Egypt.

¹⁸ «هر پسر نخستزاده و هر نخستزاده نر از حیوانات گلّهٔ شما به من تعلّق دارد.

¹⁹“All that opens the womb is mine; and all your livestock that is male, the firstborn of cow and sheep.

¹⁹ به عوض نخستزادهٔ الاغ، یک برّه بدهید و اگر نمی‌خواهید برّه بدهید، گردن نخستزادهٔ نر الاغ را بشکنید. برای هر پسر نخستزاده باید فدیه بدهید. هیچ‌کس نباید دست خالی به حضور من بیاید.

²⁰The firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb: and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. No one shall appear before me empty.

²⁰ «شش روز کار کنید و در روز هفتم استراحت نمایید. حتّی در موسم شخم و درو هم نباید در روز هفتم کار کنید.

²¹“Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest: in plowing time and in harvest you shall rest.

²¹ «عید نوبر محصولات را جشن بگیرید. عید خیمه‌ها را که آغاز پاییز است هر ساله برگزار کنید.

²²“You shall observe the feast of weeks with the first fruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of harvest at the year’s end.

²² «سه مرتبه در سال، همهٔ مردان و پسران شما به حضور خداوند خدای اسرائیل حاضر شوند.

²³Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the Lord Yahweh, the God of Israel.

²³ در این سه مرتبه‌ای که به حضور من می‌آیید، هیچ‌یک از اقوامی‌ که من آنها را از سر راه شما دور کرده‌ام به سرزمین شما حمله نخواهد کرد.

²⁴For I will drive out nations before you and enlarge your borders; neither shall any man desire your land when you go up to appear before Yahweh, your God, three times in the year.

²⁴ «نانی را که با خمیرمایه پخته شده باشد همراه خون حیوانی که برای من قربانی شده، با هم تقدیم نکنید. گوشت قربانی عید فصح را تا صبح نگه ندارید.

²⁵“You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the Passover be left to the morning.

²⁵ «هر سال بهترین نوبر محصولات خود را به خانهٔ خداوند خدای خود بیاورید. بُزغاله را در شیر مادرش نپزید.»

²⁶“You shall bring the first of the first fruits of your ground to the house of Yahweh your God. “You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.”

²⁶ خداوند به موسی فرمود: «احکامی‌ را که به تو دادم بنویس، زیرا اینها شرایط پیمانی هستند که با تو و قوم اسرائیل بسته‌ام.»

²⁷Yahweh said to Moses, “Write you these words: for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.”

²⁷ موسی چهل شبانه‌روز با خداوند در بالای کوه ماند. او در تمام این مدّت نه چیزی خورد و نه چیزی نوشید، او بر روی لوح‌های سنگی کلمات پیمان -‌ده حكم- را نوشت.

²⁸He was there with Yahweh forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread, nor drank water. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

²⁸ وقتی موسی با دو لوحهٔ سنگی از کوه پایین آمد، متوجّه نشد که چهره‌اش در اثر صحبت کردن با خدا می‌درخشید.

²⁹It happened, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mountain, that Moses didn’t know that the skin of his face shone by reason of his speaking with him.

²⁹ و چون هارون و مردم اسرائیل چهرهٔ درخشان موسی را دیدند، از ترس به او نزدیک نشدند.

³⁰When Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come near him.

³⁰ امّا موسی آنها را پیش خود خواند. پس هارون و رهبران قوم پیش او رفتند و موسی با آنان گفت‌وگو کرد.

³¹Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned to him; and Moses spoke to them.

³¹ بعد از آنکه همگی در حضور او جمع شدند، آنچه را که خداوند برکوه سینا به او فرموده بود به اطّلاع آنها رسانید.

³²Afterward all the children of Israel came near, and he gave them all of the commandments that Yahweh had spoken with him on Mount Sinai.

³² چون سخنان موسی تمام شد روی خود را با نقاب پوشاند.

³³When Moses was done speaking with them, he put a veil on his face.

³³ هروقت موسی در خیمهٔ مقدّس خداوند می‌رفت که با او گفت‌وگو کند تا وقتی‌که خارج می‌شد نقاب را از روی خود برمی‌داشت. بعد همهٔ احکامی ‌را که از خداوند می‌گرفت، برای مردم اسرائیل بیان می‌کرد، مردم چهرهٔ تابان او را می‌دیدند. موسی تا زمانی که دوباره برای ملاقات خداوند می‌رفت، نقاب بر چهره داشت.

³⁴But when Moses went in before Yahweh to speak with him, he took the veil off, until he came out; and he came out, and spoke to the children of Israel that which he was commanded.

³⁴ مردم چهرهٔ تابان او را می‌دیدند. موسی تا زمانی که دوباره برای ملاقات خداوند می‌رفت، نقاب بر چهره داشت.

³⁵The children of Israel saw Moses’ face, that the skin of Moses’ face shone: and Moses put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with him.
