¹Yahweh said to Moses, “Behold, I have made you as God to Pharaoh; and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.

¹ خداوند به موسی فرمود: «ببین، من تو را برای فرعون مانند خدا کرده‌ام و برادرت هارون نبی تو خواهد بود.

²You shall speak all that I command you; and Aaron your brother shall speak to Pharaoh, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.

² هرچه به تو دستور داده‌ام به برادرت هارون بگو تا او به فرعون بگوید که بنی‌اسرائیل را از سرزمین مصر آزاد کند.

³I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.

³ امّا من فرعون را سنگدل می‌سازم و هرچند نشانه‌ها و شگفتی‌های هولناک در مصر انجام دهم،

⁴But Pharaoh will not listen to you, and I will lay my hand on Egypt, and bring out my armies, my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

⁴ فرعون به سخنان شما گوش نخواهد داد. پس از آن با قدرت خود مصری‌ها را شدیداً مجازات خواهم کرد و طایفه‌های قوم خود را از این سرزمین بیرون خواهم آورد.

⁵The Egyptians shall know that I am Yahweh, when I stretch out my hand on Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.”

⁵ آنگاه، وقتی با دست پرقدرت خود بنی‌اسرائیل را از سرزمین آنها بیرون بیاورم، مصریان خواهند دانست که من، خداوند هستم.»

⁶Moses and Aaron did so. As Yahweh commanded them, so they did.

⁶ موسی و هارون آنچه را که خداوند به آنها فرموده بود انجام دادند.

⁷Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.

⁷ هنگامی که آنها با فرعون صحبت کردند، موسی هشتاد ساله و هارون هشتاد و سه ساله بود.

⁸Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

⁸ خداوند به موسی و هارون فرمود:

⁹“When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Perform a miracle!’ then you shall tell Aaron, ‘Take your rod, and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it become a serpent.’”

⁹ «اگر فرعون از شما خواست که با معجزه‌ای ادّعای خود را ثابت كنید، به هارون بگو عصای خود را در مقابل فرعون بر زمین بیاندازد تا به مار تبدیل شود.»

¹⁰Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, as Yahweh had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

¹⁰ پس موسی و هارون به حضور فرعون رفتند و هرچه خداوند به آنها دستور داده بود انجام دادند. هارون عصای خود را در مقابل فرعون و بزرگان دربار بر زمین انداخت و عصا به مار تبدیل شد.

¹¹Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers. They also, the magicians of Egypt, did the same thing with their enchantments.

¹¹ فرعون دانشمندان و جادوگران مصر را حاضر کرد و آنها هم همان کار را انجام دادند.

¹²For they each cast down their rods, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

¹² آنها عصاهای خود را بر زمین انداختند و عصاها به مار تبدیل شدند ولی عصای هارون، عصاهای آنها را خورد.

¹³Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he didn’t listen to them; as Yahweh had spoken.

¹³ امّا همان‌طور که خداوند فرموده بود، فرعون در سنگدلی خود باقی ماند و به سخنان موسی گوش نداد.

¹⁴Yahweh said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is stubborn. He refuses to let the people go.

¹⁴ سپس خداوند به موسی فرمود: «فرعون خیلی سرسخت است و اجازه نداد قوم برود.

¹⁵Go to Pharaoh in the morning. Behold, he goes out to the water; and you shall stand by the river’s bank to meet him; and the rod which was turned to a serpent you shall take in your hand.

¹⁵ صبح برای ملاقات فرعون به کنار رود برو، هنگامی‌که او به آب داخل می‌شود. عصایی را هم که به مار تبدیل شده بود با خودت بردار، و کنار رود نیل منتظر او باش.

¹⁶You shall tell him, ‘Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you, saying, “Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness:” and behold, until now you haven’t listened.

¹⁶ سپس به او بگو: خداوند خدای عبرانیان مرا فرستاده است تا به تو بگویم که قوم او را آزاد کنی تا او را در بیابان پرستش نمایند. ولی تا به حال گوش نداده‌ای.

¹⁷Thus says Yahweh, “In this you shall know that I am Yahweh. Behold, I will strike with the rod that is in my hand on the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.

¹⁷ حال من این عصا را به آب رود می‌زنم و آب آن به خون تبدیل خواهد شد، ماهیان خواهند مرد، رودخانه متعفّن خواهد شد و مردم مصر نمی‌توانند از آن بنوشند. خداوند می‌گوید: به این وسیله خواهی دانست که من، خداوند هستم.»

¹⁸The fish that are in the river shall die, and the river shall become foul; and the Egyptians shall loathe to drink water from the river.”’”

¹⁸ خداوند به موسی فرمود: «به هارون بگو عصای خود را بردار و دست خود را بر روی آبهای مصر و تمام رودخانه‌ها، نهرها، استخرها، حتّی کوزه‌های سنگی و کاسه‌های چوبی دراز کن تا آب همهٔ آنها به خون تبدیل شود.»

¹⁹Yahweh said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your rod, and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their streams, and over their pools, and over all their ponds of water, that they may become blood; and there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.’”

¹⁹ موسی و هارون همان‌طور‌که خداوند دستور داده بود، انجام دادند. هارون در مقابل فرعون و درباریان، عصای خود را بلند کرد و به آب رودخانه زد و تمام آب آن به خون مبدّل شد.

²⁰Moses and Aaron did so, as Yahweh commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and struck the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

²⁰ ماهیانی که در رودخانه بودند مردند و رودخانه متعفّن شد و مصری‌ها دیگر نمی‌توانستند از آن آب بنوشند. همهٔ جای مصر از خون پُر شد.

²¹The fish that were in the river died; and the river became foul, and the Egyptians couldn’t drink water from the river; and the blood was throughout all the land of Egypt.

²¹ جادوگران مصر هم با افسونهای خود همان کارها را انجام دادند و فرعون سنگدل‌تر شد و همان‌طور که خداوند فرموده بود به سخنان موسی و هارون گوش نداد.

²²The magicians of Egypt did the same thing with their enchantments; and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he didn’t listen to them; as Yahweh had spoken.

²² فرعون برگشت و به کاخ خود رفت و هیچ توجّهی به آنچه اتّفاق افتاده بود نداشت.

²³Pharaoh turned and went into his house, and he didn’t even take this to heart.

²³ تمام مصری‌ها برای پیدا کردن آب در کنار رود مشغول کَندن گودال شدند، چون نمی‌توانستند از آب رودخانه بنوشند. هفت روز از زمانی که خداوند آب رودخانه را به خون تبدیل کرده بود، گذشت.

²⁴All the Egyptians dug around the river for water to drink; for they couldn’t drink of the water of the river.

²⁴ هفت روز از زمانی که خداوند آب رودخانه را به خون تبدیل کرده بود، گذشت.

²⁵Seven days were fulfilled, after Yahweh had struck the river.
