¹It happened in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord Yahweh fell there on me.

¹ در روز پنجم ماه از سال ششم تبعید ما، درحالی‌که در خانهٔ خود با رهبران یهودا نشسته بودم، دست خداوند متعال بر من آمد.

²Then I saw, and behold, a likeness as the appearance of fire; from the appearance of his waist and downward, fire; and from his waist and upward, as the appearance of brightness, as it were glowing metal.

² نگاه کردم و شکلی چون انسان دیدم، از کمر به پایین چون آتش و از کمر به بالا مانند برنزِ گداخته، درخشان بود.

³He put forth the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the Spirit lifted me up between earth and the sky, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the gate of the inner court that looks toward the north; where there was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provokes to jealousy.

³ او چیزی را که شبیه دستی بود دراز کرد و موی سر مرا گرفت و سپس در این رویا، روح خدا مرا در بین زمین و آسمان بلند کرد و به اورشلیم برد و در دروازهٔ شمالی معبد بزرگ قرار داد و در آنجا بُتی قرار داشت که سبب خشم خدا بود.

⁴Behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the appearance that I saw in the plain.

⁴ من در آنجا جلال خدای اسرائیل را همان طور که در کنار رود خابور در بابل دیده بودم، دیدم.

⁵Then he said to me, Son of man, lift up your eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up my eyes the way toward the north, and see, northward of the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.

⁵ سپس خدا به من فرمود: «ای انسان فانی، حال به طرف شمال نگاه کن.» من به آن طرف نگاه کردم و آن بت را که باعث خشم خداوند شده بود، دیدم که در قسمت ورودی دروازهٔ شمالی قربانگاه قرار داشت.

⁶He said to me, Son of man, do you see what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel do commit here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? But you shall again see yet other great abominations.

⁶ خدا به من فرمود: «ای انسان فانی، آیا می‌بینی چه پلیدیهای بزرگی قوم اسرائیل مرتکب می‌شوند تا مرا از معبدم دور کنند؟ امّا تو پلیدیهای بزرگتری خواهی دید.»

⁷He brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold, a hole in the wall.

⁷ خداوند مرا به دروازهٔ حیاط خارجی آورد و در آنجا سوراخی در دیوار بود.

⁸Then he said to me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had dug in the wall, behold, a door.

⁸ به من گفت: «ای انسان فانی، دیوار را بکَن.» وقتی دیوار را کَندم، دروازه‌ای پدیدار شد.

⁹He said to me, Go in, and see the wicked abominations that they do here.

⁹ او به من گفت: «داخل شو و کارهای زشت و پلیدی را که اینجا انجام می‌دهند، ببین.»

¹⁰So I went in and saw; and see, every form of creeping things, and abominable animals, and all the idols of the house of Israel, portrayed around on the wall.

¹⁰ پس من داخل شدم و نگاه کردم. آنجا روی همهٔ دیوارها اشکال انواع خزندگان و حیوانات نفرت‌انگیز و همهٔ بُتهای قوم اسرائیل نقش شده بود.

¹¹There stood before them seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel; and in their midst stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, every man with his censer in his hand; and the odor of the cloud of incense went up.

¹¹ هفتاد نفر از رهبران قوم اسرائیل نزد آنها ایستاده بودند و یازنیا پسر شافان در میان ایشان ایستاده بود و هرکس آتشدانی در دست خود داشت؛ دود خوشبوی بُخور از آنها برمی‌خاست.

¹²Then he said to me, Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in his rooms of imagery? for they say, Yahweh doesn’t see us; Yahweh has forsaken the land.

¹² خداوند از من پرسید: «ای انسان فانی، آیا می‌بینی که رهبران اسرائیل در خفا چه می‌کنند؟ ایشان همه در اتاقی پر از بت پرستش می‌کنند. بهانهٔ ایشان این است که خداوند ما را نمی‌بیند؛ او این سرزمین را ترک کرده است.»

¹³He said also to me, You shall again see yet other great abominations which they do.

¹³ خداوند همچنین به من فرمود: «تو پلیدیهای بزرگتری خواهی دید که ایشان مرتکب می‌شوند.»

¹⁴Then he brought me to the door of the gate of Yahweh’s house which was toward the north; and see, there sat the women weeping for Tammuz.

¹⁴ آنگاه او مرا به دروازهٔ شمالی معبد بزرگ آورد. زنها آنجا نشسته بودند و برای مرگ خدای خود تموز، گریه می‌کردند.

¹⁵Then he said to me, Have you seen this, son of man? You shall again see yet greater abominations than these.

¹⁵ سپس به من گفت: «ای انسان فانی، آیا می‌بینی؟ تو پلیدیهای بزرگتری خواهی دید.»

¹⁶He brought me into the inner court of Yahweh’s house; and see, at the door of Yahweh’s temple, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men, with their backs toward Yahweh’s temple, and their faces toward the east; and they were worshipping the sun toward the east.

¹⁶ آنگاه مرا به حیاط درونی معبد بزرگ برد. آنجا در نزدیکی در ورودی معبد بزرگ، بین قربانگاه و ایوان حدود بیست و پنج مرد بودند. ایشان به معبد بزرگ پشت کرده، به سوی شرق خم شده بودند و طلوع خورشید را ستایش می‌کردند.

¹⁷Then he said to me, Have you seen this, son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have turned again to provoke me to anger: and behold, they put the branch to their nose.

¹⁷ خداوند به من فرمود: «ای انسان فانی، آن را می‌بینی؟ آیا به اندازهٔ کافی بد نیست که خاندان یهودا در اینجا مرتکب پلیدی می‌شوند؟ آیا باید سرزمین را پر از خشونت کنند و خشم مرا بیشتر برانگیزند؟ ببین چگونه در نهایت بی‌ادبی به من توهین می‌کنند. بنابراین من در خشم عمل خواهم کرد و چشم پوشی و دلسوزی نخواهم کرد. گرچه با صدای بلند فریاد خواهند کشید، ولی ایشان را نخواهم شنید.»

¹⁸Therefore will I also deal in wrath; my eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.

¹⁸ بنابراین من در خشم عمل خواهم کرد و چشم پوشی و دلسوزی نخواهم کرد. گرچه با صدای بلند فریاد خواهند کشید، ولی ایشان را نخواهم شنید.»
