¹Then he cried in my ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause those who are in charge of the city to draw near, every man with his destroying weapon in his hand.

¹ آنگاه خداوند با آوازی بلند در گوش من ندا کرد و فرمود: «ای مردانی که شهر را مجازات خواهید کرد، بیایید و سلاحهای کشندهٔ خود را به دست گیرید.»

²Behold, six men came from the way of the upper gate, which lies toward the north, every man with his slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man in their midst clothed in linen, with a writer’s inkhorn by his side. They went in, and stood beside the bronze altar.

² بی‌درنگ شش مرد از راه دروازهٔ شمالی معبد بزرگ آمدند و هریک اسلحهٔ کشنده‌ای در دست داشت. همراه ایشان مردی با لباس کتانی بود که وسایل نوشتن با خود داشت. ایشان وارد شدند و کنار قربانگاه برنزی ایستادند.

³The glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon it was, to the threshold of the house: and he called to the man clothed in linen, who had the writer’s inkhorn by his side.

³ سپس نور درخشان حضور خدای اسرائیل از فرشتگان نگهبان برخاست و به آستانهٔ معبد بزرگ آمد، خداوند مردی را که لباس کتانی پوشیده بود، خواند

⁴Yahweh said to him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry over all the abominations that are done in its midst.

⁴ و به او فرمود: «از میان شهر اورشلیم بگذر و بر پیشانی کسانی‌که به‌خاطر انجام پلیدیها آه و ناله می‌کنند، نشانه‌ای بگذار.»

⁵To the others he said in my hearing, Go through the city after him, and strike: don’t let your eye spare, neither have pity;

⁵ من شنیدم که به دیگران چنین فرمود: «به دنبال او از میان شهر بگذرید و بکشید، چشم پوشی نکنید و رحم نکنید.

⁶kill utterly the old man, the young man and the virgin, and little children and women; but don’t come near any man on whom is the mark: and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the old men that were before the house.

⁶ پیران، جوانان، دختران، کودکان و زنان را، همه را بکشید، امّا به کسی‌که این نشان را دارد، دست نزنید و از معبد بزرگ من آغاز کنید.» پس از رهبرانی که در جلوی معبد بزرگ بودند، شروع کردند.

⁷He said to them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain. Go forth! They went forth, and struck in the city.

⁷ آنگاه به ایشان فرمود: «بروید و معبد بزرگ را آلوده کنید و حیاطها را از کشته‌ها پُر نمایید.» پس ایشان بیرون رفتند و در شهر به کشتار پرداختند.

⁸It happened, while they were smiting, and I was left, that I fell on my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord Yahweh! will you destroy all the residue of Israel in your pouring out of your wrath on Jerusalem?

⁸ هنگامی‌که کشتار ادامه داشت، من در آنجا تنها بودم. با صورت روی زمین افتادم و فریاد بر آوردم: «ای خداوند متعال، آیا اکنون که خشم خود را بر اورشلیم فرو می‌ریزی، تمام بازماندگان اسرائیل را خواهی کشت؟»

⁹Then he said to me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perversion: for they say, Yahweh has forsaken the land, and Yahweh doesn’t see.

⁹ خدا پاسخ داد: «گناهان قوم اسرائیل و یهودا بی‌نهایت بزرگ است. خونریزی سرزمین را فراگرفته و شهر پر از بی‌عدالتی است. ایشان می‌گویند: 'خداوند سرزمین را ترک کرده است و ما را نمی‌بیند.'

¹⁰As for me also, my eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will bring their way on their head.

¹⁰ بنابراین، من چشم پوشی نمی‌کنم و رحم نخواهم نمود، بلکه آنچه را با دیگران کردند، بر سرشان می‌آورم.» آنگاه مردی که لباس کتانی پوشیده بود و وسایل نوشتن داشت، بازگشت و به خداوند گزارش داد: «آنچه را فرموده بودید، انجام دادم.»

¹¹Behold, the man clothed in linen, who had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, I have done as you have commanded me.

¹¹ آنگاه مردی که لباس کتانی پوشیده بود و وسایل نوشتن داشت، بازگشت و به خداوند گزارش داد: «آنچه را فرموده بودید، انجام دادم.»
