⁶ از طایفهٔ لاوی، خاندانهای زیر برگشتند: یشوع و قدمیئیل از نسل هودویا -‌هفتاد و چهار نفر، سرایندگان معبد بزرگ از نسل آساف -‌یکصد و بیست و هشت نفر، نگهبانان معبد بزرگ از خاندان شلوم، آطیر، طلمون، عقوب، حطیطا و شوبای -‌یکصد و سی و نُه نفر.

⁷ از خادمان معبد بزرگ، خاندانهای زیر از تبعید بازگشتند: صیحا، حسوفا، طباعوت، قیروس، سیعها، فادوم، لبانه، حجابه، عقوب، حاجاب، شملای، حانان، جدیل، حجر، رآیا، رصین، نقودا، جزام، عزه، فاسیح، بیسای، اسنه، معونیم، نفوسیم، بقبوق، حقوفا، حرحور، بصلوت، محیدا، حرشا، برقوس، سیسرا، تامح، نصیح، و حطیفا.

⁸ از خادمان سلیمان، خاندانهای زیر از تبعید بازگشتند: سوطای، هصوفرت، فرودا، یعله، درقون، جدیل، شفیطا، حطیل، فوخرت، حظباییم، و آمی.

⁹The children of Zaccai, seven hundred sixty.

⁹ تعداد کلّ کارگران معبد بزرگ و خادمان سلیمان که از تبعید بازگشتند سیصد و نَود و دو نفر بود.

¹⁰The children of Bani, six hundred forty-two.

¹⁰ ششصد و پنجاه و دو نفر به خاندانهای دلایا، طوبیا، و نقودا تعلّق داشتند. اینها از آبادیهای تل ملح، تل خرشا، کروب، ادان، و امیر آمده بودند، امّا آنها نتوانستند ثابت کنند که از نسل قوم اسرائیل هستند.

¹¹The children of Bebai, six hundred twenty-three.

¹¹ خاندانهای زیر که از کاهنان بودند نتوانستند مدارک لازم را برای اثبات نسبت خود با کاهنان پیدا کنند: حبایا، هقصوص، و برزلائی (که با یکی از دختران خاندان برزلائی جلعادی ازدواج کرده بود و نام خاندان پدر زن خود را هم گرفته بود.) چون آنها نتوانستند ثابت کنند اجدادشان چه کسانی هستند، از کهانت محروم شدند.

¹² فرماندار یهودی به آنها اجازه نداد از غذاهای نذری که تقدیم معبد بزرگ می‌شد بخورند، مگر آن که کاهنی در آنجا حضور می‌داشت و می‌توانست از اوریم و تُمیم استفاده کند.

¹³ تعداد کلّ افرادی که از تبعید بازگشتند -‌چهل و دو هزار و سیصد و شصت نفر، خادمان آنها هم مرد و هم زن -‌هفت هزار و سیصد و سی و هفت نفر. سرایندگان همراه ایشان (هم زن و هم مرد) -‌دویست نفر بودند. اسب -‌هفتصد و سی و شش رأس، قاطر -‌دویست و سی و پنج رأس، شتر -‌چهارصد و سی و پنج نفر، الاغ -‌شش هزار و هفتصد و بیست رأس.

¹⁴ وقتی تبعیدیان به معبد بزرگ خداوند در اورشلیم رسیدند، برخی از سران خاندانها، هدایای داوطلبانه به خزانه بخشیدند تا معبد بزرگ اورشلیم در مکان سابقش دوباره ساخته شود.

⁵⁸All the Nethinim, and the children of Solomon’s servants, were three hundred ninety-two.

⁵⁹These were those who went up from Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer; but they could not show their fathers’ houses, and their seed, whether they were of Israel:

⁶⁰the children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred fifty-two.

⁶¹Of the children of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Hakkoz, the children of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name.

⁶²These sought their place among those who were registered by genealogy, but they were not found: therefore were they deemed polluted and put from the priesthood.

⁶³The governor said to them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, until there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.

⁶⁴The whole assembly together was forty-two thousand three hundred sixty,

⁶⁵besides their male servants and their female servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty-seven: and they had two hundred singing men and singing women.

⁶⁶Their horses were seven hundred thirty-six; their mules, two hundred forty-five;

⁶⁷their camels, four hundred thirty-five; their donkeys, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.

⁶⁸Some of the heads of fathers’ households, when they came to the house of Yahweh which is in Jerusalem, offered willingly for God’s house to set it up in its place:

⁶⁹they gave after their ability into the treasury of the work sixty-one thousand darics of gold, and five thousand minas of silver, and one hundred priests’ garments.

⁷⁰So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinim, lived in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
