1It happened in the days of Amraphel, king of Shinar, Arioch, king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer, king of Elam, and Tidal, king of Goiim,

چهار پادشاه یعنی امرافل پادشاه بابل (شینار)، اریوک پادشاه الاسار، كدرلاعمر پادشاه عیلام و تیدال پادشاه گوعیم،
2that they made war with Bera, king of Sodom, and with Birsha, king of Gomorrah, Shinab, king of Admah, and Shemeber, king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar).

رفتند تا با پنج پادشاه دیگر یعنی بابرا پادشاه سدوم، بیرشا پادشاه غموره، شیناب پادشاه ادما، شمبر پادشاه زبوئیم و پادشاه بلا یعنی صوغر جنگ كنند.
3All these joined together in the valley of Siddim (the same is the Salt Sea).

این پنج پادشاه با هم متّحد شدند و در دشت سدیم كه اکنون دریای مرده نامیده میشود به هم پیوستند.
4Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year, they rebelled.

اینها دوازده سال زیر نظر كدرلاعمر بودند، امّا در سال سیزدهم برضد او قیام كردند.
5In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer came, and the kings who were with him, and struck the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim,

در سال چهاردهم كدرلاعمر و متّحدان او با لشكریانشان آمدند و رفائیم را در اشتاروتكرنین و زیزین را در هام، ایمیم را در دشت قیریتایم
6and the Horites in their Mount Seir, to Elparan, which is by the wilderness.

و حوریان را در كوههای اَدوم تا الپاران كه نزدیک صحراست تعقیب نموده، شكست دادند.
7They returned, and came to En Mishpat (the same is Kadesh), and struck all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that lived in Hazazon Tamar.

سپس برگشتند و به قادش كه عینمشباط میباشد آمدند و تمامی عمالیقیان و اموریان را كه درّهٔ زازون تامار زندگی میكردند، مغلوب نمودند.
8The king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar) went out; and they set the battle in array against them in the valley of Siddim;

سپس پادشاهان سدوم، غموره، ادما، زبولیم و بلا، لشكریان خود را برای حمله بیرون آورده و در دشت میدیم آمادهٔ جنگ شدند
9against Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings against the five.

تا با پادشاهان عیلام، گوعیم، بابل و الاسار جنگ كنند. چهار پادشاه به ضد پنج پادشاه.
10Now the valley of Siddim was full of tar pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and they fell there, and those who remained fled to the hills.

آن دشت پُر از چاههای قیر بود و وقتی كه پادشاهان سدوم و غموره كوشش میكردند تا از حملهٔ دشمن فرار كنند در چاهها افتادند، ولی سه پادشاه دیگر به كوهها فرار كردند.
11They took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their food, and went their way.

آن چهار پادشاه همه چیز را در سدوم و غموره با تمام خوراكیها برداشتند و رفتند.
12They took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who lived in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

لوط، برادرزادهٔ اَبرام در سدوم زندگی میكرد. بنابراین آنها او را با تمام داراییاش برداشتند و بردند.
13One who had escaped came and told Abram, the Hebrew. Now he lived by the oaks of Mamre, the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner; and these were allies of Abram.

ولی یک نفر كه جان سالم بدر برده بود، آمد و تمام این وقایع را به اَبرام عبرانی اطّلاع داد. او در نزدیكی بلوطستان كه متعلّق به ممری اموریان است، زندگی میكرد. ممری و برادرانش اشكول و عانر هم پیمانهای اَبرام بودند.
14When Abram heard that his relative was taken captive, he led out his trained men, born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued as far as Dan.

وقتی اَبرام شنید كه برادرزادهاش دستگیر شده است، تمام مردان جنگی خود را كه سیصد و هجده نفر بودند احضار كرد و چهار پادشاه را تا دان تعقیب نمود.
15He divided himself against them by night, he and his servants, and struck them, and pursued them to Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

سپس افراد خود را گروهگروه تقسیم كرد و هنگام شب به دشمن حمله كرده آنها را شكست داد و آنها را تا هوباه كه در شمال دمشق است، فراری داد.
16He brought back all the goods, and also brought back his relative, Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

پس هرچه كه آنها غارت كرده و با خود برده بودند، پس گرفت. او همچنین لوط برادرزادهٔ خود و تمام داراییاش و تمام زنان و زندانیان دیگر را بازگردانید.
17The king of Sodom went out to meet him, after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, at the valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).

وقتی اَبرام پس از پیروزی بر كدرلاعمر و پادشاهان دیگر باز میگشت، پادشاه سدوم برای استقبال او به دشت شاوه كه دشت پادشاه نیز گفته میشود، رفت.
18Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine: and he was priest of God Most High.

ملكیصدق كه پادشاه سالیم و كاهن خدای متعال بود، برای اَبرام نان و شراب آورد و
19He blessed him, and said, “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth:
19
برای او دعای خیر كرد و گفت: «خدای متعال كه آسمان و زمین را آفرید اَبرام را بركت دهد.
20and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” Abram gave him a tenth of all.
20
سپاس بر خدای متعال كه تو را بر دشمنانت پیروز گردانید.» اَبرام ده یک آنچه از غنیمت باز آورده بود به ملكیصدق داد.
21The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people, and take the goods to yourself.”

پادشاه سدوم به اَبرام گفت: «اموال غنیمتی مال خودت: ولی افرادم را به من برگردان.»
22Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have lifted up my hand to Yahweh, God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth,

اَبرام جواب داد: «من چشم به درگاه خداوند خدای متعال دوختهام كه آسمان و زمین را آفرید
23that I will not take a thread nor a sandal strap nor anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’
23
که چیزی از اموال تو حتّی یک نخ یا یک بند كفش هم نگاه نخواهم داشت تا نگویی كه من اَبرام را ثروتمند كردم.
من چیزی برای خودم نمیگیرم مگر آنچه را كه افراد من تصرّف كردند. ولی بگذار همراهان من آنیر و اشكول و ممری سهم خود را بردارند.»
24I will accept nothing from you except that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me: Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. Let them take their portion.”

من چیزی برای خودم نمیگیرم مگر آنچه را كه افراد من تصرّف كردند. ولی بگذار همراهان من آنیر و اشكول و ممری سهم خود را بردارند.»
