1It happened after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”

مدّتی بعد خدا ابراهیم را امتحان كرد و به او فرمود: «ابراهیم» ابراهیم جواب داد: «بله ای خداوند.»
2He said, “Now take your son, your only son, whom you love, even Isaac, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there for a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”

خدا فرمود: «پسر عزیزت اسحاق را كه خیلی دوست میداری، بردار و به سرزمین موریا برو. آنجا او را بر روی كوهی كه به تو نشان خواهم داد برای من قربانی كن.»
3Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him.

روز بعد، ابراهیم صبح زود بلند شد. مقداری هیزم برای قربانی شكست و آنها را بر روی الاغ گذاشت. اسحاق و دو نفر از نوكران خود را برداشت و به طرف جاییکه خدا فرموده بود به راه افتاد.
4On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place far off.

روز سوم، ابراهیم آن محل را از فاصلهٔ دور دید.
5Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go yonder. We will worship, and come back to you.”

به نوكران خود گفت: «اینجا پیش الاغ بمانید. من و پسرم به آنجا میرویم تا عبادت كنیم. بعداً پیش شما برمیگردیم.»
6Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. He took in his hand the fire and the knife. They both went together.

ابراهیم هیزمها را بر دوش اسحاق گذاشت و خودش كارد و آتش برای روشن كردن هیزم برداشت و برای گذراندن قربانی با هم به راه افتادند.
7Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said, “My father?” He said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”

اسحاق گفت: «پدر»، ابراهیم جواب داد: «بله پسرم؟»
اسحاق پرسید: «میبینم كه تو آتش و هیزم داری، پس برّه برای قربانی كجاست؟»
8Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.

ابراهیم جواب داد: «خدا خودش آن را آماده میكند.» هردوی آنها با هم رفتند.
9They came to the place which God had told him of. Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on the wood.

وقتی آنها به جایی رسیدند كه خداوند فرموده بود، ابراهیم یک قربانگاه درست كرد و هیزمها را روی آن گذاشت. پسر خود را بست و او را روی قربانگاه، روی هیزمها قرار داد.
10Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to kill his son.

سپس چاقو را به دست گرفت تا او را قربانی كند.
11The angel of Yahweh called to him out of the sky, and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.”

امّا فرشتهٔ خداوند، از آسمان او را صدا كرد و گفت: «ابراهیم، ابراهیم» او جواب داد: «بلی، ای خداوند.»
12He said, “Don’t lay your hand on the boy, neither do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”

فرشته گفت «به پسر خود صدمه نزن و هیچكاری با او نكن. من حالا فهمیدم كه تو از خدا اطاعت میكنی و به او احترام میگذاری. زیرا تو پسر عزیز خود را از او مضایقه نكردی.»
13Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and saw that behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering instead of his son.

ابراهیم به طرف صدا نگاه كرد. قوچی را دید كه شاخهایش به درختی گیر كرده است. او رفت و آن را گرفت و به عنوان قربانی سوختنی به جای پسرش قربانی كرد.
14Abraham called the name of that place Yahweh Will Provide or, Yahweh-Jireh, or, Yahweh-Seeing . As it is said to this day, “On Yahweh’s mountain, it will be provided.”

ابراهیم آنجا را «خداوند مهیّا میكند» نامید و حتّی امروز هم مردم میگویند «بر كوه خداوند، او مهیّا میكند.»
15The angel of Yahweh called to Abraham a second time out of the sky,

فرشتهٔ خداوند، برای بار دوّم از آسمان ابراهیم را صدا كرد و گفت:
16and said, “I have sworn by myself, says Yahweh, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son,

«من به تو وعده میدهم و به اسم خودم قسم میخورم كه تو را به فراوانی بركت خواهم داد. زیرا تو اینكار را كردی و پسر عزیز خود را از من مضایقه نكردی.
17that I will bless you greatly, and I will multiply your seed greatly like the stars of the heavens, and like the sand which is on the seashore. Your seed will possess the gate of his enemies.

من قول میدهم كه نسل تو را مانند ستارگان آسمان و شنهای ساحل دریا زیاد كنم. نسلهای تو بر دشمنان خود پیروز خواهند شد.
18In your seed will all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”

تمام ملّتها از من خواهند خواست، همانطور كه نسل تو را بركت دادهام، نسل آنها را هم بركت دهم. فقط به خاطر اینکه تو از من اطاعت كردی.»
19So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba. Abraham lived at Beersheba.

ابراهیم پیش نوكران خود برگشت و آنها با هم به بئرشبع رفتند و ابراهیم در آنجا ساكن شد.
20It happened after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, “Behold, Milcah, she also has borne children to your brother Nahor:

بعد از مدّتی ابراهیم شنید كه مِلْكَه هشت فرزند برای برادرش ناحور به دنیا آورده است:
21Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram,
21
عوز كه نخستزاده است و برادرش بوز و كموئیل پدر اَرام،
22Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.”

كاسد، هازو، پیلداش، جیدلاف و بتوئیل
23Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.

كه پدر ربكاست. ملكه این هشت پسر را برای ناحور برادر ابراهیم به دنیا آورد.
رئومه زن صیغهای ناحور نیز تیباه، جاهام، تاهاش و مَعكه را به دنیا آورد.
24His concubine, whose name was Reumah, also bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.
