¹Let us fear therefore, lest perhaps anyone of you should seem to have come short of a promise of entering into his rest.

¹ پس چون این وعدهٔ ورود به آرامی هنوز باقی است، ما باید بسیار مواظب باشیم، مبادا كسی در میان شما پیدا شود كه این فرصت را از دست داده باشد.

²For indeed we have had good news preached to us, even as they also did, but the word they heard didn’t profit them, because it wasn’t mixed with faith by those who heard.

² زیرا در واقع ما نیز مثل آنان مژده را شنیده‌ایم، امّا این پیام برای آنان فایده‌ای نداشت، زیرا وقتی آن را شنیدند با ایمان به آن گوش ندادند.

³For we who have believed do enter into that rest, even as he has said, “As I swore in my wrath, they will not enter into my rest”; Psalm 95:11 although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

³ ما چون ایمان داریم به آرامی او دست می‌یابیم. گرچه كار خدا در موقع آفرینش جهان پایان یافت، او فرموده است: «در خشم خود سوگند یاد كردم كه، آنها هرگز به آرامی من داخل نخواهند شد.»

⁴For he has said this somewhere about the seventh day, “God rested on the seventh day from all his works”; Genesis 2:2

⁴ زیرا کتاب‌مقدّس در جایی دربارهٔ روز هفتم چنین می‌گوید: «خدا در روز هفتم از كار خود آرامش گرفت.»

⁵and in this place again, “They will not enter into my rest.” Psalm 95:11

⁵ با وجود این، خدا در آیهٔ فوق می‌فرماید: «هرگز به آرامی من نخواهند رسید.»

⁶Seeing therefore it remains that some should enter therein, and they to whom the good news was before preached failed to enter in because of disobedience,

⁶ پس چون هنوز عدّه‌ای فرصت دارند به آن وارد شوند و همچنین چون آنانی كه اول بشارت را شنیدند از روی نافرمانی و بی‌ایمانی به آن وارد نشدند،

⁷he again defines a certain day, today, saying through David so long a time afterward (just as has been said), “Today if you will hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts.” Psalm 95:7-8

⁷ خدا روز دیگری یعنی «امروز» را تعیین می‌کند، زیرا پس از سالیان دراز به وسیلهٔ داوود سخن گفته و با كلماتی كه پیش از این نقل شد می‌فرماید: «امروز اگر صدای او را بشنوید، تمرّد نكنید.»

⁸For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterward of another day.

⁸ اگر یوشع به آنان آرامی می‌بخشید، بعدها خدا دربارهٔ روز دیگری چنین سخن نمی‌گفت.

⁹There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

⁹ بنابراین استراحت دیگری مثل استراحت روز سبت در انتظار قوم خداست.

¹⁰For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his.

¹⁰ زیرا هركس به آرامی الهی وارد شود، مثل خود خدا از كار خویش دست می‌کشد.

¹¹Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.

¹¹ پس سخت بكوشیم تا به آرامی او برسیم. مبادا كسی از ما گرفتار همان نافرمانی و بی‌ایمانی كه قبلاً نمونه‌ای از آن را ذكر كردیم، بشود.

¹²For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

¹² زیرا كلام خدا، زنده و فعّال و از هر شمشیر دو دَم تیزتر است و تا اعماق روح و نفس و مفاصل و مغز استخوان نفوذ می‌کند و نیّات و اغراض دل انسان را آشكار می‌سازد.

¹³There is no creature that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

¹³ در آفرینش چیزی نیست كه از خدا پوشیده بماند. همه‌چیز در برابر چشمان او برهنه و رو باز است و همهٔ ما باید حساب خود را به او پس بدهیم.

¹⁴Having then a great high priest, who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold tightly to our confession.

¹⁴ پس چون ما كاهنی به این بزرگی و عظمت داریم كه به عرش برین رفته است، یعنی عیسی پسر خدا، اعتراف ایمان خود را محكم نگاه داریم؛

¹⁵For we don’t have a high priest who can’t be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.

¹⁵ زیرا كاهن اعظم ما كسی نیست كه از همدردی با ضعفهای ما بی‌خبر باشد، بلكه كسی است كه درست مانند ما از هر لحاظ وسوسه شد، ولی مرتكب گناه نگردید. پس بیایید تا با دلیری به تخت ‌فیض بخش خدا نزدیک شویم تا رحمت یافته و در وقت احتیاج از او فیض یابیم.

¹⁶Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need.

¹⁶ پس بیایید تا با دلیری به تخت ‌فیض بخش خدا نزدیک شویم تا رحمت یافته و در وقت احتیاج از او فیض یابیم.
