¹The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

¹ این است مکاشفاتی که خداوند دربارهٔ یهودا و اورشلیم در زمان سلطنت عزیا، یوتام، آحاز و حزقیا به اشعیا پسر آموص آشکار ساخت:

²Hear, heavens, and listen, earth; for Yahweh “Yahweh” is God’s proper Name, sometimes rendered “LORD” (all caps) in other translations. has spoken: “I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

² ای آسمان بشنو و ای زمین گوش فرا ده زیرا خداوند سخن می‌گوید: «فرزندان پروردم و بزرگ کردم، امّا آنها بر من شوریده‌اند.

³The ox knows his owner, and the donkey his master’s crib; but Israel doesn’t know, my people don’t consider.”

³ گاو مالک خویش و الاغ آخور صاحب خود را می‌شناسد، امّا اسرائیل نمی‌شناسد. قوم من ‌فهم ندارند.»

⁴Ah sinful nation, a people loaded with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken Yahweh. They have despised the Holy One of Israel. They are estranged and backward.

⁴ ای ملّت گناهکار‌، ای قوم پر خطا و نسل فاسد، شما خداوند -‌خدای قدّوس اسرائیل- را ترک و به او پشت کرده‌اید.

⁵Why should you be beaten more, that you revolt more and more? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

⁵ چرا به سرکشی خود ادامه می‌دهی ای اسرائیل؟ آیا می‌خواهی بیش از این مجازات شوی‌؟ هم اکنون سرت زخمی و قلب و فکرت بیمار است.

⁶From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it: wounds, welts, and open sores. They haven’t been closed, neither bandaged, neither soothed with oil.

⁶ تمام بدنت -‌از سر تا به پا- پوشیده از تاول و زخم و جراحت است و جای سالمی در آن نیست. زخمهای تو هنوز پاک نشده و مرهم و دارویی بر آن نگذاشته‌اند.

⁷Your country is desolate. Your cities are burned with fire. Strangers devour your land in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

⁷ کشور شما ویران و شهرهایتان در آتش سوخته شده، و در برابر چشمهایتان بیگانگان سرزمین شما را تصرّف می‌کنند و آن را به ویرانی می‌کشانند.

⁸The daughter of Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a field of melons, like a besieged city.

⁸ اورشلیم -‌شهر محاصره شده- مثل نگاهبانی بی‌دفاع در آلونک یک تاکستان یا سایه‌بانی در جالیزار باقی‌ مانده است.

⁹Unless Yahweh of Armies had left to us a very small remnant, we would have been as Sodom; we would have been like Gomorrah.

⁹ اگر خداوند متعال عدّه‌ای را زنده نگه نمی‌داشت، تمام قوم مثل سدوم و غموره کاملاً از بین می‌رفت.

¹⁰Hear the word of Yahweh, you rulers of Sodom! Listen to the law of our God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” , you people of Gomorrah!

¹⁰ ای اورشلیم، مردم و حکّام تو مانند مردم و حکّام سدوم و غموره هستند. به آنچه خداوند می‌گوید گوش بده و به تعالیم او توجّه کن.

¹¹“What are the multitude of your sacrifices to me?,” says Yahweh. “I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed animals. I don’t delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of male goats.

¹¹ خداوند می‌فرماید: «آیا فکر می‌کنید من مشتاق قربانی‌های سوختنی شما هستم؟ نه، من از گوسفندانی که به عنوان قربانی سوختنی می‌گذرانید و از چربی پرواریهای شما بیزارم و علاقه‌ای به خون گاو یا گوسفند و بُز شما ندارم.

¹²When you come to appear before me, who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts?

¹² چه کسی از شما خواسته است وقتی برای عبادت من می‌آیید، چنین چیزهایی با خود بیاورید؟ چه کسی از شما خواسته خانهٔ مرا چنین لگدمال کنید؟

¹³Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me; new moons, Sabbaths, and convocations: I can’t bear with evil assemblies.

¹³ اهدای چنین قربانی‌هایی بی‌فایده است. از بوی بُخورهایی که می‌سوزانید، بیزارم. دیگر نمی‌توانم اجتماع شریرانهٔ شما را برای جشن‌های ماه نو و سبت‌ها تحمّل کنم.

¹⁴My soul hates your New Moons and your appointed feasts. They are a burden to me. I am weary of bearing them.

¹⁴ از جشن‌های ماه نو و اعیاد دیگر شما متنفّرم و از تحمّل آنها خسته شده‌ام.

¹⁵When you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

¹⁵ «وقتی دستهای خود را برای دعا بلند می‌کنید، به شما نگاه نخواهم کرد. هرقدر دعا کنید، به دعاهای شما توجّه نخواهم کرد، چون دستهای شما به خون آلوده‌ است.

¹⁶Wash yourselves, make yourself clean. Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil.

¹⁶ خود را بشویید و پاک شوید. از شرارت دست بردارید. آری، از کارهای شرارت‌آمیز دست بردارید.

¹⁷Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. Judge the fatherless. Plead for the widow.”

¹⁷ نیکوکاری را بیاموزید و طالب اجرای عدالت باشید. به ستمدیدگان کمک کنید، به داد یتیمان برسید و از بیوه‌زنان حمایت کنید.»

¹⁸“Come now, and let us reason together,” says Yahweh: “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

¹⁸ خداوند می‌فرماید: «بیایید بحث کنیم: لکه‌های گناه، تمام وجودتان را قرمز ساخته، امّا من شما را می‌شویم و مثل برف سفید خواهید شد، اگرچه گناهان شما بشدّت سرخ باشد، مانند پشم سفید خواهید شد.

¹⁹If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land;

¹⁹ اگر از من اطاعت کنید از ثمرات زمین خواهید خورد.

²⁰but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken it.”

²⁰ امّا اگر نافرمانی کنید، همهٔ شما به ‌دَم شمشیر کشته خواهید شد. این است آنچه خداوند گفته است.»

²¹How the faithful city has become a prostitute! She was full of justice; righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers.

²¹ شهری که وفادار بود مثل یک زن زانیه شده و شهری که پر از انسانهای نیکوکار بود، امروز جای قاتلان شده است.

²²Your silver has become dross, your wine mixed with water.

²² ای اورشلیم، تو روزی مثل نقرهٔ خالص بودی، امّا اکنون بی‌ارزش شده‌ای. تو مثل شراب ناب بودی ولی حالا چیزی جز آب نیستی.

²³Your princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves. Everyone loves bribes, and follows after rewards. They don’t judge the fatherless, neither does the cause of the widow come to them.

²³ رهبران شما یاغی و دوست دزدان و رشوه‌خواران هستند. آنها هیچ‌وقت در دادگاه از یتیمان دفاع نمی‌کنند، و به فریاد بیوه‌زنان گوش نمی‌دهند.

²⁴Therefore the Lord, The word translated “Lord” is “Adonai.” Yahweh of Armies, the Mighty One of Israel, says: “Ah, I will get relief from my adversaries, and avenge myself of my enemies;

²⁴ پس حالا به آنچه خداوند متعال -‌خدای قادر اسرائیل- می‌گوید گوش دهید: «من از شما -‌دشمنان خودم- انتقام خواهم گرفت و از دست شما راحت خواهم شد.

²⁵and I will turn my hand on you, thoroughly purge away your dross, and will take away all your tin.

²⁵ برضد تو عمل خواهم کرد. همان‌طور که فلزی را تصفیه می‌کنند، من تو را پاک خواهم کرد و تمام ناخالصی‌های تو را خواهم زدود.

²⁶I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called ‘The city of righteousness, a faithful town.’

²⁶ حکّام و مُشاورینی مثل کسانی‌که در گذشته داشتید، به شما خواهم داد. آنگاه اورشلیم دوباره شهر نیکوکاران و وفاداران خوانده خواهد شد.»

²⁷Zion shall be redeemed with justice, and her converts with righteousness.

²⁷ خداوند به‌خاطر عدالت خود، اورشلیم و مردمان توبه‌کار آن را نجات خواهد داد.

²⁸But the destruction of transgressors and sinners shall be together, and those who forsake Yahweh shall be consumed.

²⁸ امّا او تمام گناهکاران و یاغیان را از بین خواهد برد، و متمرّدین را خواهد کُشت.

²⁹For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which you have desired, and you shall be confounded for the gardens that you have chosen.

²⁹ از پرستش درختان و کاشتن باغچه‌های مقدّس متأسف خواهید شد.

³⁰For you shall be as an oak whose leaf fades, and as a garden that has no water.

³⁰ مثل درخت چنار پوسیده و مثل باغی بی‌آب، پژمرده و خشک خواهید شد. مثل کاهی که با جرقّه‌ای آتش می‌گیرد، همان‌طور مردان قوی با شرارت خود نابود می‌شوند و هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند جلوی نابودی آنها را بگیرد.

³¹The strong will be like tinder, and his work like a spark. They will both burn together, and no one will quench them.”

³¹ مثل کاهی که با جرقّه‌ای آتش می‌گیرد، همان‌طور مردان قوی با شرارت خود نابود می‌شوند و هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند جلوی نابودی آنها را بگیرد.
