¹Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming on you.

¹ و شما ای ثروتمندان، برای بلاهایی كه بر سر شما می‌آید، گریه و زاری كنید.

²Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten.

² ثروت شما تباه گشته و لباسهای زیبایتان را بید خورده است.

³Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you, and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days.

³ سیم و زر شما زنگ زده و زنگ آنها مدركی علیه شماست و مانند آتش بدن شما را خواهد سوزانید. شما حتّی تا این روزهای آخر هم به اندوختن ثروت مشغولید.

⁴Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies Greek: Sabaoth (for Hebrew: Tze’va’ot) .

⁴ مزد كارگرانی كه مزارع شما را درو کرده‌اند و شما آنها را نپرداخته‌اید، علیه شما فریاد می‌کنند و نالهٔ دروگران به گوش خداوند متعال رسیده است.

⁵You have lived delicately on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.

⁵ شما در روی زمین به عیش و نوش پرداخته‌اید و خود را برای روز ذبح پروار کرده‌اید.

⁶You have condemned, you have murdered the righteous one. He doesn’t resist you.

⁶ شخص عادل و نیک را محكوم کرده‌اید و در حالی‌كه هیچ مقاومتی نمی‌کرد، او را كشتید.

⁷Be patient therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rain.

⁷ ای دوستان من تا روز ظهور خداوند صبر كنید. زارع برای برداشت محصول پرارزش زمین با صبر و شكیبایی منتظر بارانهای پاییزی و بهاری می‌ماند.

⁸You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

⁸ شما نیز باید با امید صبر كنید و قویدل باشید زیرا آمدن خداوند نزدیک است.

⁹Don’t grumble, brothers, against one another, so that you won’t be judged. Behold, the judge stands at the door.

⁹ ای دوستان من، پشت سر دیگران از آنها شكایت نكنید، مبادا خود شما محكوم شوید، چون داور عادل آمادهٔ داوری است.

¹⁰Take, brothers, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

¹⁰ ای دوستان من صبر و تحمّل انبیایی كه به نام خداوند سخن می‌گفتند، باید برای شما نمونه باشد.

¹¹Behold, we call them blessed who endured. You have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the Lord in the outcome, and how the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

¹¹ ما اشخاص صبور و پر تحمّل را خوشبخت می‌دانیم. شما دربارهٔ صبر و تحمّل ایّوب شنیده‌اید و می‌دانید خداوند سرانجام با او چه كرد. زیرا خداوند بی‌نهایت رحیم و مهربان است.

¹²But above all things, my brothers, don’t swear, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath; but let your “yes” be “yes,” and your “no,” “no”; so that you don’t fall into hypocrisy. TR reads “under judgment” instead of “into hypocrisy”

¹² ای دوستان من، از همه مهمتر این است كه سوگند نخورید، نه به آسمان، نه به زمین و نه به هیچ چیز دیگر، بلكه بلی شما واقعاً بلی باشد و نه شما نه، مبادا محكوم شوید.

¹³Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praises.

¹³ پس اگر برای كسی از شما مصیبتی روی دهد او باید دعا كند و اگر خوشحال است، باید سرود بخواند.

¹⁴Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord,

¹⁴ اگر كسی از شما بیمار است، باید از مشایخ كلیسا بخواهد تا برای او دعا كنند و به نام خداوند بدن او را با روغن تدهین نمایند.

¹⁵and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

¹⁵ دعایی كه از روی ایمان باشد بیمار را نجات خواهد بخشید. خداوند او را از بستر بیماری بلند خواهد كرد و اگر مرتكب گناهی شده باشد بخشیده خواهد شد.

¹⁶Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.

¹⁶ نزد یكدیگر به گناهان خود اعتراف نمایید و برای یكدیگر دعا كنید تا شفا یابید. دعای صمیمانهٔ شخص عادل و نیک بسیار مؤثّر است.

¹⁷Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it didn’t rain on the earth for three years and six months.

¹⁷ الیاس دارای عواطفی مانند خود ما بود، ولی وقتی از صمیم قلب دعا كرد كه باران نبارد، سه سال و شش ماه در آن سرزمین باران نبارید.

¹⁸He prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit.

¹⁸ دوباره دعا كرد و باران بارید و زمین بار دیگر محصول به بار آورد.

¹⁹Brothers, if any among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back,

¹⁹ ای دوستان من، اگر كسی از شما از حقیقت منحرف گردد و شخص دیگری او را برگرداند، یقین بدانید كه هرکس گناهكاری را از راه نادرست بازگرداند، جانی را از مرگ خواهد رهانید و گناهان بی‌شماری را خواهد پوشانید.

²⁰let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins.

²⁰ یقین بدانید كه هرکس گناهكاری را از راه نادرست بازگرداند، جانی را از مرگ خواهد رهانید و گناهان بی‌شماری را خواهد پوشانید.
