¹Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! says Yahweh.

¹ چه وحشتناک است داوری خداوند نسبت به حکمرانانی که قوم مرا پراکنده و از بین می‌برند!

²Therefore thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, against the shepherds who feed my people: You have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them; behold, I will visit on you the evil of your doings, says Yahweh.

² خداوند، خدای اسرائیل، درباره حکمرانانی که موظّف به مراقبت از مردم بودند، چنین می‌گوید: «شما از قوم من مراقبت نکرده‌اید، شما آنها را پراکنده و از خود رانده‌اید. اکنون من شما را به‌خاطر شرارت‌هایی که مرتکب شده‌اید، مجازات می‌کنم.

³I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and multiply.

³ بقیّهٔ قوم خود را از سرزمینهایی که آنها را پراکنده کرده بودم، به وطن خودشان برمی‌گردانم. آنها فرزندان زیادی خواهند داشت و به تعدادشان هر روز افزوده خواهد شد.

⁴I will set up shepherds over them, who shall feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be lacking, says Yahweh.

⁴ من حکمرانانی برای مراقبت از آنها برخواهم گزید. قوم من دیگر در ترس و وحشت نخواهد بود، و من دیگر آنها را مجازات نخواهم کرد. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.

⁵Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

⁵ خداوند می‌گوید: «زمانی می‌آید که من از نسل داوود پادشاهی عادل برمی‌گزینم. آن پادشاه با حکمت حکومت می‌کند و آنچه را که راست و درست است، در تمام این سرزمین انجام خواهد داد.

⁶In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is his name by which he shall be called: Yahweh our righteousness.

⁶ وقتی او پادشاهی کند، مردم یهودا در امنیّت و قوم اسرائیل در صلح خواهد زیست. نام او 'خداوند عدالت و آزادی ما' خواهد بود.

⁷Therefore behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that they shall no more say, As Yahweh lives, who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

⁷ خداوند می‌گوید: «زمانی می‌آید که مردم دیگر به نام من، به عنوان خدای زنده‌ای که آنها را از مصر بیرون آورده، سوگند یاد نمی‌کنند.

⁸but, As Yahweh lives, who brought up and who led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all the countries where I had driven them. They shall dwell in their own land.

⁸ آنها در عوض به نام خدای زنده‌ای سوگند می‌خورند که قوم اسرائیل را از سرزمین شمالی و سایر کشورهایی که من آنها را پراکنده کرده بودم، بازگردانده است. آنگاه آنها در وطن خودشان زندگی خواهند کرد.

⁹Concerning the prophets. My heart within me is broken, all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine has overcome, because of Yahweh, and because of his holy words.

⁹ به‌خاطر خداوند و به‌خاطر کلام قدّوس او، دلم شکسته و تمام وجودم می‌لرزد. مثل آدم مست و مثل کسی‌که شراب زیاد نوشیده است.

¹⁰For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourns; the pastures of the wilderness are dried up. Their course is evil, and their might is not right;

¹⁰ این سرزمین از کسانی‌که به خداوند امین نیستند، پر شده است، آنها به زندگی شرارت بار خود ادامه می‌دهند و از قدرت خود سوء استفاده می‌کنند. به‌خاطر لعنت خداوند تمام این سرزمین در ماتم است و تمام چراگاهها خشک شده‌اند.

¹¹for both prophet and priest are profane; yes, in my house have I found their wickedness, says Yahweh.

¹¹ خداوند می‌گوید: «انبیا هم مانند کاهنان بدکاره‌اند، من آنها را حتّی در معبد بزرگ در حال ارتکاب شرارت دیده‌ام.

¹²Therefore their way shall be to them as slippery places in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein; for I will bring evil on them, even the year of their visitation, says Yahweh.

¹² راههای آنها لغزنده و تاریک است. آنها خواهند لغزید و خواهند افتاد. من آنها را دچار مصیبت خواهم کرد. زمان مجازات نزدیک است. من خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.

¹³I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied by Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.

¹³ من شاهد گناه انبیای سامره بوده‌ام. آنها در نام بعل نبوّت می‌کردند و قوم مرا گمراه کرده‌اند.

¹⁴In the prophets of Jerusalem also I have seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies; and they strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that none does return from his wickedness: they are all of them become to me as Sodom, and its inhabitants as Gomorrah.

¹⁴ انبیای اورشلیم از آنها هم بدترند. آنها زانی و دروغگو هستند و بدکاران را در انجام شرارت تشویق می‌کنند به طوری که هیچ‌کس دست از شرارت برنمی‌دارد. به نظر من، اینها از مردم سدوم و غموره بهتر نیستند.

¹⁵Therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies concerning the prophets: Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall; for from the prophets of Jerusalem is ungodliness gone forth into all the land.

¹⁵ «این است آنچه من، خداوند متعال دربارهٔ انبیای اورشلیم می‌گویم: من به آنها گیاه تلخ برای خوردن و زهر برای نوشیدن‌ خواهم داد. چون کفر و بی‌ایمانی را در تمام این سرزمین رواج داده‌اند.»

¹⁶Thus says Yahweh of Armies, Don’t listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you: they teach you vanity; they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of Yahweh.

¹⁶ خداوند متعال به مردم اورشلیم چنین گفت: «به آنچه انبیا می‌گویند گوش ندهید، چون آنها به شما امید واهی می‌دهند. آنها تصوّرات خودشان را به شما می‌گویند، نه آنچه من به آنها گفته‌ام.

¹⁷They say continually to those who despise me, Yahweh has said, You shall have peace; and to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, No evil shall come on you.

¹⁷ آنها به مردمی که به پیام من گوش نداده‌اند، پیوسته می‌گویند که همه‌چیز به خوبی پیش می‌رود. آنها به آدمهای سرسخت که سخنان مرا باور نکرده‌اند می‌گویند که هیچ بلایی بر آنها نازل نخواهد شد.»

¹⁸For who has stood in the council of Yahweh, that he should perceive and hear his word? who has marked my word, and heard it?

¹⁸ من گفتم: «هیچ‌یک از این انبیا آن‌قدر به خداوند نزدیک نبود که بتواند افکار او را درک کند. هیچ‌یک از آنها پیام او را نشنیده و نفهمیده و توجهی به سخنان او نکرده است.

¹⁹Behold, the storm of Yahweh, his wrath, has gone forth. Yes, a whirling storm. It shall burst on the head of the wicked.

¹⁹ خشم او مثل توفان و تندبادی است که برفراز سر شریران می‌خروشد.

²⁰The anger of Yahweh shall not return, until he has executed, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days you shall understand it perfectly.

²⁰ این توفان تا وقتی آنچه منظور نظر خداوند است صورت نگیرد، فروکش نخواهد کرد. در آینده‌ای نزدیک، مردم این را به طور واضح خواهند فهمید.»

²¹I sent not these prophets, yet they ran: I didn’t speak to them, yet they prophesied.

²¹ خداوند گفت: «من این انبیا را نفرستادم، ولی آنها خودسرانه رفتند، من به آنها پیامی ندادم، ولی بدون موافقت من به اسم من سخن گفتند.

²²But if they had stood in my council, then had they caused my people to hear my words, and had turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.

²² اگر آنها از نیّات من آگاه بودند، در آن صورت می‌توانستند پیام مرا به قوم من اعلام کنند و آنها را از راههای ناراست و زندگی پر گناهشان بازگردانند.

²³Am I a God at hand, says Yahweh, and not a God afar off?

²³ «من خدایی هستم که در همه‌جا حاضرم و محدود به محل خاصی نیستم.

²⁴Can any hide himself in secret places so that I shall not see him? says Yahweh. Don’t I fill heaven and earth? says Yahweh.

²⁴ هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند خود را از من پنهان کند تا من او را نبینم. آیا نمی‌دانید که من در همه‌جا در آسمان و زمین حضور دارم؟

²⁵I have heard what the prophets have said, who prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.

²⁵ من می‌دانم آن انبیا به دروغ چه چیزهایی در نام من گفته‌اند و ادّعا می‌کنند که در خواب آن پیامها را از من دریافت کرده‌اند.

²⁶How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies, even the prophets of the deceit of their own heart?

²⁶ تا کی این انبیا با دروغ‌هایشان به گمراه کردن قوم من ادامه خواهند داد؟

²⁷who think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers forgot my name for Baal.

²⁷ آنها فکر می‌کنند با خوابهایی که بیان می‌کنند خواهند توانست قوم مرا وادار کنند تا نام مرا فراموش کنند، همان‌طور که پدرانشان مرا فراموش کردند و به بعل روی آوردند.

²⁸The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream; and he who has my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the straw to the wheat? says Yahweh.

²⁸ نبی‌ای که خوابی می‌بیند باید بگوید که پیام او فقط یک خواب بوده، ولی نبی‌ای که از من پیامی گرفته، باید با امانت آن پیام را بازگو کند. در برابر گندم، کاه چه ارزشی دارد؟

²⁹Isn’t my word like fire? says Yahweh; and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

²⁹ پیام من آتش است و مثل پتکی که سنگ‌ها را خرد می‌کند.

³⁰Therefore behold, I am against the prophets, says Yahweh, who steal my words everyone from his neighbor.

³⁰ من برضد انبیایی هستم که گفته‌های یکدیگر را می‌دزدند و آنها را به جای پیام من اعلام می‌کنند.

³¹Behold, I am against the prophets, says Yahweh, who use their tongues, and say, He says.

³¹ من همچنین برضد انبیایی هستم که حرفهای خود را از قول من بیان می‌کنند.

³²Behold, I am against those who prophesy lying dreams, says Yahweh, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their vain boasting: yet I didn’t send them, nor commanded them; neither do they profit this people at all, says Yahweh.

³² به آنچه من، خداوند می‌گویم گوش دهید! من مخالف انبیایی هستم که خوابهای پر از دروغ خود را به جای پیامی از جانب من بیان می‌کنند. آنها با بازگو کردن این خوابها و با ادّعاهای کاذب خود قوم مرا گمراه می‌کنند. من آنها را نفرستادم و مأمور نکردم و هیچ کمکی برای قوم من نیستند. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

³³When this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask you, saying, What is the burden of Yahweh? Then you shall tell them, What burden! I will cast you off, says Yahweh.

³³ خداوند به من گفت: «ای ارمیا اگر یک نفر از قوم من، یک نبی یا یک کاهن از تو بپرسد، پیام خداوند چیست؟ به او بگو، تو بار سنگینی برای خداوند هستی و او از شرّ تو خلاص خواهد شد.

³⁴As for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, who shall say, The burden of Yahweh, I will even punish that man and his house.

³⁴ اگر یک نفر دیگر از قوم من، یا یک نبی، یا یک کاهن همین کلمات را به کار ببرد و بگوید: «باری برای خداوند هستید،» من آن شخص و خانوادهٔ او را مجازات خواهم کرد.

³⁵You shall say everyone to his neighbor, and everyone to his brother, What has Yahweh answered? and, What has Yahweh spoken?

³⁵ در عوض، هرکس باید از دوستان و همسایگان خود بپرسد، «جواب خداوند چیست؟ خداوند چه گفته است؟»

³⁶You shall mention the burden of Yahweh no more: for every man’s own word shall be his burden; for you have perverted the words of the living God, of Yahweh of Armies our God.

³⁶ بنابراین آنها نباید دیگر کلمات، «باری برای خداوند»، را به کار ببرند، چون اگر آن کلمات را به کار ببرند، کاری می‌کنم که پیام من واقعاً برایشان باری سنگین شود. مردم گفتار خدای خود- خداوند زنده و متعال- را دگرگون کرده‌اند.

³⁷You shall say to the prophet, What has Yahweh answered you? and, What has Yahweh spoken?

³⁷ ای ارمیا، از انبیا بپرس، پاسخ خداوند برای شما چه بود؟ خداوند چه گفته است؟

³⁸But if you say, The burden of Yahweh; therefore thus says Yahweh: Because you say this word, The burden of Yahweh, and I have sent to you, saying, You shall not say, The burden of Yahweh;

³⁸ اگر آنها از اطاعت من سر باز زنند و بگویند: باری برای خداوند» آنگاه به آنها بگو که

³⁹therefore, behold, I will utterly forget you, and I will cast you off, and the city that I gave to you and to your fathers, away from my presence:

³⁹ من حتماً آنها را به همراه شهری که به اجدادشان داده بودم، می‌گیرم و به جایی بسیار دور از حضور خودم خواهم انداخت. من آنها را تا ابد رسوا و بی‌آبرو خواهم کرد.

⁴⁰and I will bring an everlasting reproach on you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.

⁴⁰ من آنها را تا ابد رسوا و بی‌آبرو خواهم کرد.
