¹Of the children of Ammon. Thus says Yahweh: Has Israel no sons? has he no heir? why then does Malcam possess Gad, and his people well in its cities?

¹ این است آنچه خداوند به عمونیان گفته است: «مردان اسرائیلی کجا هستند؟ آیا کسی نیست که از سرزمین آنها دفاع کند؟ چرا آنها اجازه می‌دهند مردمی که بت مِلکُوم را می‌پرستیدند، سرزمین متعلّق به طایفهٔ جاد را بگیرند و در آن ساکن شوند؟

²Therefore behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will cause an alarm of war to be heard against Rabbah of the children of Ammon; and it shall become a desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with fire: then shall Israel possess those who possessed him, says Yahweh.

² امّا بزودی زمانی می‌رسد که من صدای جنگ را به گوش مردم پایتخت یعنی شهر ربه خواهم رسانید. آن شهر ویران خواهد شد و روستاهای آن در آتش خواهد سوخت. آنگاه اسرائیل سرزمینش را که به وسیلهٔ دیگران اشغال شده بود، پس خواهد گرفت.

³Wail, Heshbon, for Ai is laid waste; cry, you daughters of Rabbah, clothe yourself in sackcloth: lament, and run back and forth among the fences; for Malcam shall go into captivity, his priests and his princes together.

³ ای مردم حشبون گریه کنید، شهرهای عای ویران شده! ای زنهای ربه ماتم بگیرید! لباس عزا برتن کنید. سرگردان و بی‌هدف فرار کنید. مِلکُوم خدای شما به همراه کاهنان و شاهزادگان اسیر و تبعید خواهند شد.

⁴Why do you glory in the valleys, your flowing valley, backsliding daughter? who trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come to me?

⁴ ای مردم بی‌وفا چرا این‌قدر به خود می‌بالید؟ دیگر در شما نیرویی نمانده. چرا هنوز برقدرت خود متّکی هستید و می‌گویید که هیچ‌کس جرأت ندارد به شما حمله کند؟

⁵Behold, I will bring a fear on you, says the Lord, Yahweh of Armies, from all who are around you; and you shall be driven out every man right forth, and there shall be none to gather together the fugitives.

⁵ من خداوند، خدای متعال شما را از هر جهت دچار وحشت خواهم کرد. همهٔ شما پا به فرار خواهید گذاشت و همه از ترس جان خود خواهید گریخت و کسی نخواهد بود که سربازان را دوباره جمع کند.

⁶But afterward I will bring back the captivity of the children of Ammon, says Yahweh.

⁶ «امّا بعد از مدّتی، من رفاه را دوباره به عمون برمی‌گردانم. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

⁷Of Edom. Thus says Yahweh of Armies: Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?

⁷ این است آنچه خداوند متعال دربارهٔ اَدوم گفته است: «آیا مردم اَدوم حس تشخیص خود را از دست داده‌اند؟ آیا مشاورین آنها دیگر نمی‌توانند به آنها بگویند که چه باید بکنند؟ آیا تمام حکمت آنها از بین رفته است؟

⁸Flee, turn back, dwell in the depths, inhabitants of Dedan; for I will bring the calamity of Esau on him, the time that I shall visit him.

⁸ ای مردم دِدان بازگردید، فرار کنید و مخفی شوید! من فرزندان عیسو را از بین خواهم برد، چون زمان آن رسیده است که آنها را مجازات کنم.

⁹If grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, wouldn’t they destroy until they had enough?

⁹ وقتی مردم انگور می‌چینند، بعضی از خوشه‌ها را در تاک نگه می‌دارند و وقتی دزدان در شب می‌آیند، آنها فقط آنچه را می‌خواهند می‌برند.

¹⁰But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is destroyed, and his brothers, and his neighbors; and he is no more.

¹⁰ امّا من فرزندان عیسو را کاملاً لخت کرده و مخفیگاههای ایشان را برملا نموده‌ام و دیگر آنها نمی‌توانند خود را مخفی کنند. تمام مردم اَدوم از بین رفته‌اند. حتّی یک نفر از آنها باقی نمانده است.

¹¹Leave your fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let your widows trust in me.

¹¹ یتیمان خود را نزد من بیاورید و من از آنها توجّه خواهم کرد. بیوه‌زنان شما می‌توانند به من متّکی باشند.

¹²For thus says Yahweh: Behold, they to whom it didn’t pertain to drink of the cup shall certainly drink; and are you he who shall altogether go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink.

¹² حتّی کسانی‌که مستوجب تنبیه نبودند، مجبور شدند از این جام مجازات بنوشند، آیا فکر می‌کنید شما تنبیه نخواهید شد؟

¹³For I have sworn by myself, says Yahweh, that Bozrah shall become an astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all its cities shall be perpetual wastes.

¹³ من سوگند خورده‌ام که شهر بُصره به بیابان و به منظره‌ای وحشتناک تبدیل خواهد شد. مردم آن را مسخره و اسمش را به عنوان نفرین و لعنت به کار خواهند برد. تمام روستاهای اطراف آن برای همیشه ویران خواهند ماند. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

¹⁴I have heard news from Yahweh, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, Gather yourselves together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.

¹⁴ من گفتم: «ای مردم اَدوم، من پیامی از جانب خداوند دریافت کرده‌ام. او رسولی فرستاده تا به تمام ملّتها بگوید ارتش‌های خود را جمع کنند و برای حمله به شما آماده شوند.

¹⁵For, behold, I have made you small among the nations, and despised among men.

¹⁵ خداوند شما را ضعیف می‌سازد و کسی به شما احترام نخواهد گذاشت.

¹⁶As for your terror, the pride of your heart has deceived you, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, who hold the height of the hill: though you should make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there, says Yahweh.

¹⁶ غرورتان شما را فریفته است، آن‌قدر که فکر می‌کنید کسی از شما نمی‌ترسد. شما بر فراز صخره‌ها و در بالای کوههای بلند زندگی می‌کنید، حتّی اگر مثل عقاب زندگی کنید، خداوند شما را به زیر خواهد آورد. خداوند چنین گفته است.»

¹⁷Edom shall become an astonishment: everyone who passes by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss at all its plagues.

¹⁷ خداوند گفت: «همان بلایی بر سر اَدوم خواهم آورد که بر سر سدوم و غموره آمد وقتی‌که آنها و شهرهای اطراف آنها نابود شدند. دیگر کسی در آنجا زندگی نخواهد کرد. من، خداوند سخن گفته‌ام.

¹⁸As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbor cities of it, says Yahweh, no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man live therein.

¹⁸ همان بلایی که به سر سدوم و غموره در زمانی که تمام شهرهای اطراف آنها ویران شد، همان بر سر اَدوم خواهد آمد. هیچ‌کس دیگر در آن زندگی نخواهد کرد.

¹⁹Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the pride of the Jordan against the strong habitation: for I will suddenly make them run away from it; and whoever is chosen, him will I appoint over it: for who is like me? and who will appoint me a time? and who is the shepherd who will stand before me?

¹⁹ مانند شیری که از جنگل‌های انبوه کرانه‌های رود اردن بیرون می‌آید و به سوی چمنزارهای سرسبز پیش می‌رود، به همان نحو من خواهم آمد و مردم اَدوم ناگهان از سرزمین خود پا به فرار می‌گذارند. آنگاه رهبری که من برگزینم بر ‌آن ملّت حکومت خواهد کرد. چه کسی را می‌توان با من مقایسه کرد؟ چه حکومتی می‌تواند با من مخالفت کند؟

²⁰Therefore hear the counsel of Yahweh, that he has taken against Edom; and his purposes, that he has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely they shall drag them away, the little ones of the flock; surely he shall make their habitation desolate over them.

²⁰ پس به نقشه‌ای که من علیه اَدوم کشیده‌ام و به آنچه بر سر مردم شهر تیمان می‌آورم، توجّه کنید. حتّی کودکان آنها را کِشان‌کِشان خواهند برد؛ همه وحشتزده خواهند بود.

²¹The earth trembles at the noise of their fall; there is a cry, the noise which is heard in the Red Sea or, Sea of Reeds .

²¹ زمانی که اَدوم سقوط کند، چنان سر و صدایی ایجاد خواهند کرد که تمام دنیا را به لرزه می‌اندازد و فریادهای وحشتزدهٔ آنها تا خلیج عقبه شنیده خواهد شد.

²²Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread out his wings against Bozrah: and the heart of the mighty men of Edom at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

²² دشمن مثل عقابی با پرهای گشوده بر سر بُصره فرود خواهد آمد. در آن روز سربازان اَدومی مثل زنان در حال زایمان خواهند ترسید.

²³Of Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad; for they have heard evil news, they are melted away: there is sorrow on the sea; it can’t be quiet.

²³ این است آنچه خداوند دربارهٔ دمشق گفته است: «مردم شهرهای حمات و ارفاد نگران و ناراحتند، چون آنها خبرهای بد شنیده‌اند. تشویش مثل امواج دریا آنها را فرو گرفته است، و آنها نمی‌توانند آرام بگیرند.

²⁴Damascus has grown feeble, she turns herself to flee, and trembling has seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken hold of her, as of a woman in travail.

²⁴ مردم دمشق ضعیفند و از ترس فرار کرده‌اند. آنها مثل زنی در حال زایمان، در درد و رنج هستند.

²⁵How is the city of praise not forsaken, the city of my joy?

²⁵ شهر مشهوری که آن‌قدر شاد بود کاملاً متروک شده.

²⁶Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be brought to silence in that day, says Yahweh of Armies.

²⁶ در آن روز مردان جوانش در کوچه‌های شهر کُشته و سربازانش همه نابود خواهند شد.

²⁷I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben Hadad.

²⁷ من دیوارهای دمشق را به آتش خواهم کشید و قصرهای بنهدد پادشاه را خواهم سوزانید. من، خداوند متعال، چنین گفته‌ام.»

²⁸Of Kedar, and of the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon struck. Thus says Yahweh: Arise, go up to Kedar, and destroy the children of the east.

²⁸ این است آنچه خداوند دربارهٔ قبیلهٔ قیدار و نواحی زیر نظر حاصور -‌که قبلاً به وسیلهٔ نبوکدنصر پادشاه بابل فتح شده بود- گفته است: «به مردم قیدار حمله کنید و آن قبیله از مردم شرقی را از بین ببرید!

²⁹Their tents and their flocks shall they take; they shall carry away for themselves their curtains, and all their vessels, and their camels; and they shall cry to them, Terror on every side!

²⁹ چادرها و رمه‌های آنها را به همراه پرده‌های چادرها و هر آنچه در درون چادرهایشان هست، همه را تصرّف کنید. شترهایشان را بگیرید و به مردم بگویید، 'وحشت شما را از هر طرف احاطه کرده است!'

³⁰Flee, wander far off, dwell in the depths, you inhabitants of Hazor, says Yahweh; for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has taken counsel against you, and has conceived a purpose against you.

³⁰ «ای مردم حاصور، من، خداوند به شما اخطار می‌کنم که فرار کنید و در جاهای دور مخفی شوید. نبوکدنصر پادشاه بابل علیه شما توطئه کرده است،

³¹Arise, go up to a nation that is at ease, that dwells without care, says Yahweh; that have neither gates nor bars, that dwell alone.

³¹ 'بیایید! به این مردمی که این‌قدر احساس امنیّت می‌کنند حمله کنیم! شهرشان در و دروازه‌ای ندارد و کاملاً بی‌دفاع هستند.'

³²Their camels shall be a booty, and the multitude of their livestock a spoil: and I will scatter to all winds those who have the corners of their beards cut off; and I will bring their calamity from every side of them, says Yahweh.

³² «شترها و گلّه‌های آنها را بگیرید! من این مردمانی که موهای سر خود را کوتاه می‌کنند، به هر جهت پراکنده می‌کنم و آنها را از هر طرف گرفتار مصیبت خواهم کرد.

³³Hazor shall be a dwelling place of jackals, a desolation forever: no man shall dwell there, neither shall any son of man live therein.

³³ حاصور برای همیشه به بیابانی مبدّل خواهد شد که فقط شغالها در آن زندگی خواهند کرد. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

³⁴The word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

³⁴ مدّت کمی بعد از آنکه صدقیا پادشاه یهودا شد، خداوند متعال دربارهٔ کشور عیلام به من

³⁵Thus says Yahweh of Armies: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.

³⁵ چنین گفت: «من تمام کماندارانی را که چنین قدرتی به عیلام داده‌اند، خواهم کُشت.

³⁶On Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of the sky, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation where the outcasts of Elam shall not come.

³⁶ من بادها را از تمام جهان علیه آنها می‌وزانم و مردم آن را در همه‌جا پراکنده خواهم کرد، به طوری که جایی در جهان نخواهد بود که پناه نبرده باشند.

³⁷I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before those who seek their life; and I will bring evil on them, even my fierce anger, says Yahweh; and I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them;

³⁷ من مردم عیلام را از دشمنانشان که در صدد کشتن آنها هستند، هراسان خواهم ساخت. در غضب خودم مردم عیلام را از بین خواهم برد و سپاهیان را در تعقیب آنها خواهم فرستاد تا همهٔ آنها را نابود کنند.

³⁸and I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from there king and princes, says Yahweh.

³⁸ من پادشاهان و رهبران آنها را از بین خواهم برد و تخت خود را در آنجا قرار خواهم داد. امّا بعداً من رفاه و کامیابی را دوباره به مردم عیلام بازمی‌گردانم. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

³⁹But it shall happen in the latter days, that I will bring back the captivity of Elam, says Yahweh.

³⁹ امّا بعداً من رفاه و کامیابی را دوباره به مردم عیلام بازمی‌گردانم. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»
