¹Meanwhile, when a multitude of many thousands had gathered together, so much so that they trampled on each other, he began to tell his disciples first of all, “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

¹ در این هنگام جمعیّتی مركب از هزاران نفر گرد‌ آمده بود به طوری که یكدیگر را زیر پا می‌گذاشتند. عیسی قبل از همه با شاگردان خود شروع به سخن كرده گفت: «از خمیرمایهٔ فریسیان یعنی ریاكاری آنان برحذر باشید.

² But there is nothing covered up, that will not be revealed, nor hidden, that will not be known.

² هرچه پوشیده است، عاقبت پرده از رویش برداشته خواهد شد و هرچه پنهان است، آشكار خواهد شد.

³ Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. What you have spoken in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

³ بنابراین آنچه را كه در تاریكی گفته‌اید، در روشنایی روز شنیده خواهد شد و آنچه را كه پشت درهای بسته آهسته گفته‌اید، روی بامها اعلام خواهد شد.

⁴ “I tell you, my friends, don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

⁴ «به شما كه دوستان من هستید می‌گویم: از کسانی‌که بدن را می‌کُشند و بعد از آن، كار دیگری از دستشان بر نمی‌آید، نترسید.

⁵ But I will warn you whom you should fear. Fear him, who after he has killed, has power to cast into Gehenna. or, Hell Yes, I tell you, fear him.

⁵ شما را آگاه می‌سازم كه از چه كسی باید بترسید: از آن كسی بترسید كه پس از كشتن، اختیار دارد به جهنم اندازد. آری، می‌گویم از او باید ترسید.

⁶ “Aren’t five sparrows sold for two assaria coins An assarion was a small copper coin worth about an hour’s wages for an agricultural laborer. ? Not one of them is forgotten by God.

⁶ «آیا قیمت پنج گنجشک، دو ریال نمی‌باشد؟ امّا هیچ‌كدام از آنها از نظر خدا دور نیست.

⁷ But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.

⁷ علاوه بر این، حتّی موهای سر شما تماماً شمرده شده است هیچ نترسید؛ شما از گنجشکهای بی‌شمار بیشتر ارزش دارید!

⁸ “I tell you, everyone who confesses me before men, him will the Son of Man also confess before the angels of God;

⁸ «بدانید: هرکه در برابر مردم خود را از آن من بداند، پسر انسان در برابر فرشتگان خدا او را از آن خود خواهد دانست.

⁹ but he who denies me in the presence of men will be denied in the presence of the angels of God.

⁹ امّا هرکه در برابر مردم بگوید كه مرا نمی‌شناسد، در حضور فرشتگان خداناشناس محسوب خواهد شد.

¹⁰ Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but those who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

¹⁰ «هرکس کلمه‌ای برضد پسر انسان بگوید بخشوده خواهد شد امّا آن کسی‌که به روح‌القدس بد بگوید بخشیده نخواهد شد.

¹¹ When they bring you before the synagogues, the rulers, and the authorities, don’t be anxious how or what you will answer, or what you will say;

¹¹ «وقتی شما را به کنیسه‌ها و دادگاه‌ها و به حضور فرمانروایان می‌آورند، نگران نباشید كه چطور از خود دفاع كنید و چه بگویید،

¹² for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that same hour what you must say.”

¹² چون در همان ساعت، روح‌القدس به شما نشان می‌دهد كه چه بگویید.»

¹³One of the multitude said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”

¹³ مردی از میان جمعیّت به عیسی گفت: «ای استاد، به برادر من بگو ارث خانواده را با من تقسیم كند.»

¹⁴But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or an arbitrator over you?”

¹⁴ عیسی جواب داد: «ای مرد، چه کسی مرا در میان شما قاضی و حَكَم قرار داده است؟»

¹⁵He said to them, “Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.”

¹⁵ بعد به مردم فرمود: «مواظب باشید. خود را از هر نوع حِرص و طمع دور بدارید، زیرا زندگی واقعی را ثروت فراوان، تشكیل نمی‌دهند.»

¹⁶He spoke a parable to them, saying, “The ground of a certain rich man brought forth abundantly.

¹⁶ سپس برای ایشان این مَثَل را آورده گفت: «مردی زمینی داشت كه محصول فراوانی آورد.

¹⁷ He reasoned within himself, saying, ‘What will I do, because I don’t have room to store my crops?’

¹⁷ با خود فكر كرد كه: 'چه ‌كنم؟ جا ندارم كه محصول خود را انبار كنم.'

¹⁸ He said, ‘This is what I will do. I will pull down my barns, and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.

¹⁸ سپس گفت: 'خوب، فهمیدم چه‌كار كنم. انبارها را خراب می‌کنم و آنها را بزرگتر می‌سازم. غلّه و سایر اجناسم را جمع‌آوری می‌كنم.

¹⁹ I will tell my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, be merry.”’

¹⁹ آن وقت به خود می‌گویم ای جان من، تو به فراوانی چیزهای خوب جمع کرده‌ای كه برای سالیان درازی كفایت می‌کند، آسوده باش، بخور و بنوش و خوش بگذران.'

²⁰ “But God said to him, ‘You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared—whose will they be?’

²⁰ امّا خدا به او فرمود: 'ای احمق، همین امشب باید جانت را تسلیم كنی، پس آنچه اندوخته‌ای مال چه كسی خواهد بود؟'

²¹ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

²¹ این است عاقبت مردی كه برای خود ثروت می‌اندوزد ولی پیش خدا دست‌خالی است.»

²²He said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life, what you will eat, nor yet for your body, what you will wear.

²² به شاگردان فرمود: «به این سبب است كه به شما می‌گویم: به‌خاطر زندگی، نگران غذا و برای بدن، نگران لباس نباشید،

²³ Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.

²³ زیرا زندگی، بالاتر از غذا و بدن، بالاتر از لباس است.

²⁴ Consider the ravens: they don’t sow, they don’t reap, they have no warehouse or barn, and God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds!

²⁴ به كلاغها فكر كنید: نه می‌كارند و نه درو می‌کنند، نه انبار دارند و نه كاهدان، ولی خدا به آنها روزی می‌دهد و شما خیلی بیشتر از پرندگان ارزش دارید!

²⁵ Which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his height?

²⁵ آیا یكی از شما می‌تواند با نگرانی، ساعتی به طول عمر خود بیافزاید؟

²⁶ If then you aren’t able to do even the least things, why are you anxious about the rest?

²⁶ پس اگر شما كاری به این كوچكی را هم نمی‌توانید بكنید چرا در مورد بقیّهٔ چیزها نگران هستید؟

²⁷ Consider the lilies, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

²⁷ در رشد و نمو سوسن‌ها تأمّل كنید: نه می‌ریسند و نه می‌بافند، ولی بدانید كه حتّی سلیمان هم با آن‌همه حشمت و جلال مثل یكی از آنها آراسته نشد.

²⁸ But if this is how God clothes the grass in the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith?

²⁸ پس اگر خدا علفی را كه امروز در صحرا می‌روید و فردا در تنور سوخته می‌شود چنین می‌آراید چقدر بیشتر ای كم‌ایمانان شما را خواهد پوشانید!

²⁹ Don’t seek what you will eat or what you will drink; neither be anxious.

²⁹ برای آنچه می‌خورید و می‌آشامید این‌قدر تقلّا نكنید و نگران نباشید،

³⁰ For the nations of the world seek after all of these things, but your Father knows that you need these things.

³⁰ چون اینها تماماً چیزهایی است كه مردم این دنیا دنبال می‌کنند. امّا شما پدری دارید كه می‌داند به آنها محتاجید.

³¹ But seek God’s Kingdom, and all these things will be added to you.

³¹ شما پادشاهی او را هدف خود قرار دهید و بقیّهٔ چیزها به سراغ شما خواهد آمد.

³² Don’t be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.

³² «ای گلّهٔ كوچک، هیچ نترسید، زیرا خوشی پدر شما در این است كه آن پادشاهی را به شما عطا كند.

³³ Sell that which you have, and give gifts to the needy. Make for yourselves purses which don’t grow old, a treasure in the heavens that doesn’t fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth destroys.

³³ آنچه دارید بفروشید و به فقرا بدهید و برای خود كیسه‌هایی فراهم كنید كه كهنه نمی‌شود و ثروتی در آن عالم ذخیره نمایید كه هیچ كاسته نمی‌گردد و هیچ دزدی نمی‌تواند به آن دستبرد بزند و بید آن را از بین نمی‌برد،

³⁴ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

³⁴ زیرا اموال شما هر كجا باشد، دل شما هم آنجا خواهد بود.

³⁵ “Let your waist be dressed and your lamps burning.

³⁵ «با كمرهای بسته و چراغ‌های روشن آمادهٔ كار باشید.

³⁶ Be like men watching for their lord, when he returns from the marriage feast; that, when he comes and knocks, they may immediately open to him.

³⁶ مانند اشخاصی باشید كه منتظر آمدن ارباب خود از یک مجلس عروسی هستند و حاضرند كه هروقت برسد و در بزند، در را برایش باز کنند.

³⁷ Blessed are those servants, whom the lord will find watching when he comes. Most certainly I tell you, that he will dress himself, and make them recline, and will come and serve them.

³⁷ خوشا به حال خادمانی كه وقتی اربابشان می‌آید آنان را چشم به راه ببیند. یقیین بدانید كه كمر خود را خواهد بست، آنان را بر سر سفره خواهد نشانید و به خدمت آنها خواهد پرداخت،

³⁸ They will be blessed if he comes in the second or third watch, and finds them so.

³⁸ چه نیمه شب باشد و چه قبل از سپیده‌دَم. خوشا به حال آنان اگر وقتی اربابشان می‌آید ملاحظه كند كه آنها چشم به راه هستند.

³⁹ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched, and not allowed his house to be broken into.

³⁹ خاطرجمع باشید اگر صاحب خانه می‌دانست كه دزد چه ساعتی می‌آید، نمی‌گذاشت وارد خانه‌اش بشود.

⁴⁰ Therefore be ready also, for the Son of Man is coming in an hour that you don’t expect him.”

⁴⁰ پس آماده باشید چون پسر انسان در ساعتی می‌آید كه شما كمتر انتظار آن را دارید.»

⁴¹Peter said to him, “Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everybody?”

⁴¹ پطرس عرض كرد: «خداوندا، آیا مقصود تو از این مثال، تنها ما هستیم یا برای همه است؟»

⁴²The Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his lord will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the right times?

⁴² عیسی خداوند فرمود: «خوب، كیست آن مباشر امین و باتدیبر كه اربابش او را به عنوان ناظر منصوب كند تا نوكرانش را اداره نماید و در وقت مناسب جیرهٔ آنها را بدهد؟

⁴³ Blessed is that servant whom his lord will find doing so when he comes.

⁴³ خوشا به حال آن غلامی كه وقتی اربابش می‌آید او را سر كار خود ببیند.

⁴⁴ Truly I tell you, that he will set him over all that he has.

⁴⁴ یقین بدانید كه اربابش او را مباشر همهٔ املاک خود خواهد كرد.

⁴⁵ But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My lord delays his coming,’ and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken,

⁴⁵ امّا اگر آن غلام به خود بگوید: 'ارباب به این زودیها نخواهد آمد' و دست به آزار غلامان و كنیزان بزند و بخورد و بنوشد و مستی كند،

⁴⁶ then the lord of that servant will come in a day when he isn’t expecting him, and in an hour that he doesn’t know, and will cut him in two, and place his portion with the unfaithful.

⁴⁶ یک روز كه آن غلام انتظارش را ندارد و در ساعتی كه او نمی‌داند، ارباب خواهد رسید و او را تکه‌تکه خواهد كرد و به این ترتیب او جزء نامطیعان خواهد شد.

⁴⁷ That servant, who knew his lord’s will, and didn’t prepare, nor do what he wanted, will be beaten with many stripes,

⁴⁷ «غلامی كه خواسته‌های ارباب خود را می‌داند و با وجود این برای انجام آنها هیچ اقدامی نمی‌کند با شلاّق ضربه‌های بسیار خواهد خورد.

⁴⁸ but he who didn’t know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whomever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked.

⁴⁸ امّا کسی‌که از خواسته‌های اربابش بی‌خبر است و مرتكب عملی می‌شود كه سزاوار تنبیه می‌باشد، ضربه‌های كمتری خواهد خورد. هرگاه به كسی زیاده داده شود از او زیاد مطالبه خواهد شد و هرگاه به كسی زیادتر سپرده شود، از او زیادتر مطالبه خواهد شد.

⁴⁹ “I came to throw fire on the earth. I wish it were already kindled.

⁴⁹ «من آمده‌ام تا برروی زمین آتشی روشن كنم و ای كاش زودتر از این روشن می‌شد.

⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!

⁵⁰ من تعمیدی دارم كه باید بگیرم و تا زمان انجام آن چقدر تحت فشارم!

⁵¹ Do you think that I have come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, no, but rather division.

⁵¹ آیا گمان می‌کنید من آمده‌ام تا صلح برروی زمین برقرار كنم؟ خیر، این‌طور نیست! بدانید كه من آمده‌ام تا تفرقه بیاندازم.

⁵² For from now on, there will be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.

⁵² زیرا از این پس بین پنج نفر اعضای یک خانواده تفرقه خواهد افتاد، سه نفر مخالف دو نفر و دو نفر مخالف سه نفر خواهند بود:

⁵³ They will be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.” Micah 7:6

⁵³ پدر مخالف پسر و پسر مخالف پدر، مادر مخالف دختر و دختر مخالف مادر، مادرشوهر مخالف عروس و عروس مخالف مادرشوهر.»

⁵⁴ He said to the multitudes also, “When you see a cloud rising from the west, immediately you say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and so it happens.

⁵⁴ همچنین به مردم فرمود: «شما وقتی می‌‌بینید كه ابرها از مغرب پدیدار می‌شوند، فوراً می‌گویید: 'می‌خواهد باران ببارد' و باران هم می‌بارد

⁵⁵ When a south wind blows, you say, ‘There will be a scorching heat,’ and it happens.

⁵⁵ و وقتی باد از جانب جنوب می‌آید می‌گویید: 'گرمای شدیدی خواهد شد' و همین‌طور می‌شود.

⁵⁶ You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how is it that you don’t interpret this time?

⁵⁶ ای ریاكاران! شما كه می‌توانید به ظواهر زمین و آسمان نگاه كنید و حالت آن را پیش‌بینی كنید چگونه از درک معنی این روزگار عاجزید؟

⁵⁷ Why don’t you judge for yourselves what is right?

⁵⁷ «چرا نمی‌توانید راه راست را برای خود تشخیص دهید؟

⁵⁸ For when you are going with your adversary before the magistrate, try diligently on the way to be released from him, lest perhaps he drag you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.

⁵⁸ اگر كسی علیه تو ادّعایی كند و تو را به دادگاه بكشاند، سعی كن هنگامی‌که هنوز در راه هستی با او كنار بیایی وگرنه او تو را پیش قاضی می‌برد و قاضی تو را به دست پاسبان می‌دهد و پاسبان تو را به زندان می‌اندازد. بدان كه تا دینار آخر را ندهی بیرون نخواهی آمد.»

⁵⁹ I tell you, you will by no means get out of there, until you have paid the very last penny. literally, lepton. A lepton is a very small brass Jewish coin worth half a Roman quadrans each, which is worth a quarter of the copper assarion. Lepta are worth less than 1% of an agricultural worker’s daily wages. ”

⁵⁹ بدان كه تا دینار آخر را ندهی بیرون نخواهی آمد.»
