¹He also said to his disciples, “There was a certain rich man who had a manager. An accusation was made to him that this man was wasting his possessions.

¹ عیسی همچنین به شاگردان فرمود: «شخصی ثروتمند مباشری داشت و شكایتی به او رسید كه آن مباشر دارایی‌اش را حیف و میل می‌کند.

² He called him, and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’

² پس به دنبال او فرستاد و گفت: 'این چه حرفهایی است كه دربارهٔ تو می‌شنوم. حسابهایت را واریز كن چون دیگر نمی‌توانی در اینجا مباشر باشی.'

³ “The manager said within himself, ‘What will I do, seeing that my lord is taking away the management position from me? I don’t have strength to dig. I am ashamed to beg.

³ آن مباشر پیش خود گفت: 'حالا كه ارباب من می‌خواهد كار مباشری را از من بگیرد چه باید بكنم؟ من كه نه توان بیل‌زدن دارم و نه روی گدایی‌كردن.

⁴ I know what I will do, so that when I am removed from management, they may receive me into their houses.’

⁴ آری می‌دانم چه كنم تا مطمئن شوم كه وقتی مرا از این كار بر كنار كرد اشخاصی باشند كه درِ خانه‌های خود را بر روی من باز كنند.'

⁵ Calling each one of his lord’s debtors to him, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe to my lord?’

⁵ پس بدهكاران ارباب را یک به یک حاضر كرد. به اولی گفت: 'چقدر به ارباب من بدهكاری؟'

⁶ He said, ‘A hundred batos 100 batos is about 395 litres or 104 U. S. gallons. of oil.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’

⁶ جواب داد: 'صد پیمانهٔ روغن زیتون' گفت: 'بیا، این صورت حساب توست. بنشین و به جای آن بنویس پنجاه پیمانه، زود باش.'

⁷ Then he said to another, ‘How much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred cors 100 cors = about 3,910 litres or 600 bushels. of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’

⁷ بعد به دیگری گفت: 'تو چقدر بدهكاری؟' گفت: 'صد خروار گندم،' به او گفت: 'صورت حسابت را بگیر و به جای آن بنویس هشتاد خروار.'

⁸ “His lord commended the dishonest manager because he had done wisely, for the children of this world are, in their own generation, wiser than the children of the light.

⁸ آن ارباب، مباشر نادرست را به‌خاطر اینكه چنان زیركانه عمل كرده بود تحسین كرد، زیرا مردم دنیوی در مناسبات با همنوعان خود از ایمانداران زیركترند.

⁹ I tell you, make for yourselves friends by means of unrighteous mammon, so that when you fail, they may receive you into the eternal tents.

⁹ «پس به شما می‌گویم كه مال دنیا را برای به دست آوردن دوستان مصرف كنید تا وقتی پولتان به آخر می‌رسد شما را در خانه‌های جاودانی بپذیرند.

¹⁰ He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. He who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.

¹⁰ کسی‌که در امور كوچک درستكار باشد، در كارهای بزرگ هم درستكار خواهد بود و کسی‌که در امور كوچک نادرست باشد، در كارهای بزرگ هم نادرست خواهد بود.

¹¹ If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

¹¹ پس اگر شما در خصوص مال دنیا امین نباشید، چه كسی در مورد آن ثروت حقیقی به شما اعتماد خواهد كرد؟

¹² If you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?

¹² و اگر شما در مورد آنچه به دیگری تعلّق دارد امین نباشید، چه کسی آنچه را كه مال خود شماست به شما خواهد داد؟

¹³ No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You aren’t able to serve God and mammon “Mammon” refers to riches or a false god of wealth. .”

¹³ هیچ نوكری نمی‌تواند غلام دو ارباب باشد، چون یا از اولی بدش می‌آید و دومی را دوست دارد یا به اولی ارادت دارد و دومی را حقیر می‌شمارد. شما نمی‌توانید هم بندهٔ خدا باشید و هم در بندهٔ پول.»

¹⁴The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.

¹⁴ فریسیان این سخنان را شنیدند و او را مسخره كردند زیرا پول دوست بودند.

¹⁵He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

¹⁵ عیسی به آنان فرمود: «شما كسانی هستید كه نیکویی‌های خود را به رُخ مردم می‌کشید، امّا خدا از درونتان آگاه است چون آنچه در نظر آدمیان ارزش بسیار دارد، پیش خدا پلید است.

¹⁶ The law and the prophets were until John. From that time the Good News of the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.

¹⁶ «تا زمان یحیی، تورات و نوشته‌های انبیا در كار بود. از آن پس مژدهٔ پادشاهی خدا اعلام شده است و همهٔ مردم می‌خواهند با جدّ و جهد به آن وارد شوند.

¹⁷ But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than for one tiny stroke of a pen in the law to fall.

¹⁷ آسانتر است كه آسمان و زمین از بین برود تا نقطه‌ای از تورات بیفتد.

¹⁸ Everyone who divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery. He who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.

¹⁸ «هر مردی كه زن خود را طلاق بدهد و زن دیگری بگیرد مرتكب زنا می‌شود و هر كسی که زن طلاق داده شده را بگیرد زنا می‌کند.

¹⁹ “Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, living in luxury every day.

¹⁹ «مرد ثروتمندی بود كه همیشه لباسی ارغوانی و از كتان لطیف می‌پوشید و با خوشگذرانی فراوان زندگی می‌کرد.

²⁰ A certain beggar, named Lazarus, was laid at his gate, full of sores,

²⁰ در جلوی در خانهٔ او گدای زخم‌آلودی به نام ایلعازر خوابیده بود،

²¹ and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Yes, even the dogs came and licked his sores.

²¹ كه آرزو می‌داشت با ریزه‌های سفرهٔ آن ثروتمند شكم خود را پر كند. حتّی سگها می‌آمدند و زخمهای او را می‌لیسیدند.

²² It happened that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.

²² یک روز آن فقیر مرد و فرشتگان او را به آغوش ابراهیم بردند. آن ثروتمند هم مُرد و به خاک سپرده شد.

²³ In Hades or, Hell , he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom.

²³ او كه در دنیای مردگان در عذاب بود، نگاهی به بالا كرد و از دور، ابراهیم را با ایلعازر كه در كنار او بود دید.

²⁴ He cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.’

²⁴ فریاد زد: 'ای پدر من ابراهیم، به من رحم كن. ایلعازر را بفرست تا سر انگشتش را به آب بزند و زبان مرا خنک كند چون من در این آتش عذاب می‌کشم.'

²⁵ “But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in the same way, bad things. But now here he is comforted and you are in anguish.

²⁵ امّا ابراهیم گفت: 'فرزندم، به‌خاطر بیاور كه وقتی زنده بودی همهٔ چیزهای خوب نصیب تو و همهٔ بدیها نصیب ایلعازر شد. حالا او در اینجا آسوده است و تو در عذاب هستی.

²⁶ Besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that those who want to pass from here to you are not able, and that none may cross over from there to us.’

²⁶ امّا كار به اینجا تمام نمی‌شود شِكاف عمیقی میان ما و شما قرار دارد. هرکه از این طرف بخواهد به شما برسد نمی‌تواند از آن بگذرد و كسی هم نمی‌تواند از آن طرف پیش ما بیاید.'

²⁷ “He said, ‘I ask you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house;

²⁷ او جواب داد: 'پس ای پدر، التماس می‌کنم ایلعازر را به خانهٔ پدر من،

²⁸ for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, so they won’t also come into this place of torment.’

²⁸ كه در آن پنج برادر دارم، بفرست تا آنان را باخبر كند، مبادا آنان هم به این محل عذاب بیایند.'

²⁹ “But Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’

²⁹ امّا ابراهیم گفت: 'آنها موسی و انبیا را دارند، به سخنان ایشان گوش بدهند.'

³⁰ “He said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’

³⁰ آن مرد جواب داد: 'نه، ای پدر، اگر كسی از مردگان پیش ایشان برود، توبه خواهند كرد.' ابراهیم در پاسخ فرمود: 'اگر به سخنان موسی و انبیا گوش ندهند، حتّی اگر كسی هم پس از مرگ زنده شود، باز باور نخواهند كرد.'»

³¹ “He said to him, ‘If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.’”

³¹ ابراهیم در پاسخ فرمود: 'اگر به سخنان موسی و انبیا گوش ندهند، حتّی اگر كسی هم پس از مرگ زنده شود، باز باور نخواهند كرد.'»
