¹Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness

¹ عیسی پر از روح‌القدس از رود اردن بازگشت و روح خدا او را به بیابانها برد

²for forty days, being tempted by the devil. He ate nothing in those days. Afterward, when they were completed, he was hungry.

² و در آنجا ابلیس او را مدّت چهل روز با وسوسه‌ها آزمایش می‌کرد. او در آن روزها چیزی نخورد و سرانجام گرسنه شد.

³The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”

³ ابلیس به او گفت: «اگر تو پسر خدا هستی به این سنگ بگو تا نان شود.»

⁴Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’” Deuteronomy 8:3

⁴ عیسی پاسخ داد: «در کتاب‌مقدّس نوشته شده است كه زندگی انسان فقط بسته به نان نیست.»

⁵The devil, leading him up on a high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

⁵ بعد ابلیس او را به بالای كوهی برد و در یک چشم به هم زدن تمام ممالک دنیا را به او نشان داد

⁶The devil said to him, “I will give you all this authority, and their glory, for it has been delivered to me; and I give it to whomever I want.

⁶ و گفت: «تمامی اختیارات این قلمرو و همهٔ شكوه و جلال آن را به تو خواهم بخشید، زیرا در اختیار من است و من می‌توانم آن را به هرکه بخواهم ببخشم.

⁷If you therefore will worship before me, it will all be yours.”

⁷ اگر تو مرا سجده كنی، صاحب همهٔ آن خواهی شد.»

⁸Jesus answered him, “Get behind me Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’” Deuteronomy 6:13

⁸ عیسی به او پاسخ داد: «در کتاب‌مقدّس نوشته شده است: 'تو باید خداوند، خدای خود را سجده كنی و فقط او را خدمت نمایی.'»

⁹He led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here,

⁹ سپس ابلیس او را به اورشلیم برد و بر كنگرهٔ معبد بزرگ قرار داد و به او گفت: «اگر تو پسر خدا هستی خود را از اینجا به پایین بینداز،

¹⁰for it is written, ‘He will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you;’

¹⁰ زیرا در کتاب‌مقدّس نوشته شده است: 'او به فرشتگان خود فرمان خواهد داد تا تو را محافظت كنند.'

¹¹and, ‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest perhaps you dash your foot against a stone.’” Psalm 91:11-12

¹¹ و نیز نوشته شده است: 'تو را در دستهای خود نگاه خواهند داشت، مبادا پایت به سنگی بخورد.'»

¹²Jesus answering, said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’” Deuteronomy 6:16

¹² عیسی به او پاسخ داد: «کتاب‌مقدّس همچنین می‌گوید كه 'نباید خداوند، خدای خود را بیازمایی.'»

¹³When the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him until another time.

¹³ ابلیس پس از آنكه تمام وسوسه‌های خود را به پایان رسانید مدّتی او را تنها گذاشت.

¹⁴Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee, and news about him spread through all the surrounding area.

¹⁴ عیسی با قدرت روح‌القدس به استان جلیل برگشت و شهرت او سرتاسر آن ناحیه را پُر ساخت.

¹⁵He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.

¹⁵ در کنیسه‌های آنان تعلیم می‌داد و همهٔ مردم او را می‌ستودند.

¹⁶He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. He entered, as was his custom, into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

¹⁶ به این ترتیب به شهر ناصره، جایی‌که در آن بزرگ شده بود، آمد و در روز سبت طبق معمول به كنیسه رفت و برای قرائت كلام خدا برخاست.

¹⁷The book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. He opened the book, and found the place where it was written,

¹⁷ طومار اشعیای نبی را به او دادند. طومار را باز كرد و آن قسمتی را یافت كه می‌فرماید:

¹⁸ “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, NU omits “to heal the brokenhearted” to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed,

¹⁸ «روح خداوند بر من است، او مرا مسح كرده است تا به بینوایان مژده دهم. مرا فرستاده است تا آزادی اسیران و بینایی كوران و رهایی ستمدیدگان را اعلام كنم

¹⁹ and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” Isaiah 61:1-2

¹⁹ و سال فرخندهٔ خداوند را اعلام نمایم.»

²⁰He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him.

²⁰ طومار را پیچید و به سرپرست كنیسه داد و نشست. در كنیسه تمام چشم‌ها به او دوخته شده بود.

²¹He began to tell them, “Today, this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

²¹ او شروع به صحبت كرد و به ایشان گفت: «امروز هنگامی‌که گوش می‌دادید این نوشته به حقیقت پیوست.»

²²All testified about him, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth, and they said, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”

²² همهٔ حاضران او را تحسین می‌کردند و از كلمات فیض بخشی كه می‌گفت، تعجّب می‌‌نمودند. آنها می‌گفتند: «مگر این مرد پسر یوسف نیست؟»

²³He said to them, “Doubtless you will tell me this parable, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done at Capernaum, do also here in your hometown.’”

²³ عیسی گفت: «بدون شک در مورد من این ضرب‌المثل را خواهید گفت كه ای طبیب خود را شفا بده. شما همچنین خواهید گفت كه ما شرح همهٔ كارهایی را كه تو در كفرناحوم کرده‌ای شنیده‌ایم، همان كارها را در شهر خود انجام بده.»

²⁴He said, “Most certainly I tell you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown.

²⁴ عیسی ادامه داد و گفت: «در واقع هیچ نبی‌ای در شهر خود پذیرفته نمی‌شود.

²⁵ But truly I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land.

²⁵ یقین بدانید، در زمان الیاس كه مدّت سه سال و شش ماه آسمان بسته شد و قحطی سختی در تمام زمین به وجود آمد، بیوه زنهای بسیاری در اسرائیل بودند.

²⁶ Elijah was sent to none of them, except to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.

²⁶ با وجود این الیاس پیش هیچ‌یک از آنان فرستاده نشد، مگر پیش بیوه زنی در شهر صرفه صیدون.

²⁷ There were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Syrian.”

²⁷ همین‌طور در زمان الیشع نبی، جذامیان بسیاری در اسرائیل بودند ولی هیچ‌كدام از آنان جز نعمان سریانی شفا نیافت.»

²⁸They were all filled with wrath in the synagogue, as they heard these things.

²⁸ از شنیدن این سخن همهٔ حاضران در كنیسه غضبناک شدند.

²⁹They rose up, threw him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill that their city was built on, that they might throw him off the cliff.

²⁹ آنها برخاستند و او را از شهر بیرون كردند و به لب تپّه‌ای كه شهر بر روی آن بنا شده بود بردند تا او را به پایین بیندازند.

³⁰But he, passing through their midst, went his way.

³⁰ امّا او از میان آنان گذشت و رفت.

³¹He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. He was teaching them on the Sabbath day,

³¹ عیسی به كفرناحوم كه یكی از شهرهای جلیل است آمد و مردم را در روز سبت تعلیم داد.

³²and they were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority.

³² مردم از تعالیم او تعجّب كردند، زیرا كلام او با قدرت ادا می‌شد.

³³In the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice,

³³ در كنیسه مردی حضور داشت كه دارای روح دیو پلید بود. او با صدای بلند فریاد زد:

³⁴saying, “Ah! what have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are: the Holy One of God!”

³⁴ «ای عیسای ناصری، با ما چه‌کار داری؟ آیا آمده‌ای ما را نابود كنی؟ تو را خوب می‌شناسم ای پاک مرد خدا.»

³⁵Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” When the demon had thrown him down in their midst, he came out of him, having done him no harm.

³⁵ عیسی او را سرزنش كرد و فرمود: «ساكت شو و از او بیرون بیا.» روح دیو پلید پس از آنكه آن مرد را در برابر مردم به زمین كوبید، بدون آنكه به او آسیبی برساند او را ترک كرد.

³⁶Amazement came on all, and they spoke together, one with another, saying, “What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”

³⁶ همه متحیّر شدند و به یكدیگر می‌گفتند: «این چه نوع فرمانی است؟ به ارواح پلید با اختیار و اقتدار فرمان می‌دهد و آنها بیرون می‌روند.»

³⁷News about him went out into every place of the surrounding region.

³⁷ به این ترتیب شهرت او در تمام آن نواحی پیچید.

³⁸He rose up from the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. Simon’s mother-in-law was afflicted with a great fever, and they begged him for her.

³⁸ عیسی از كنیسه بیرون آمد و به خانهٔ شمعون رفت. مادرزن شمعون به تب شدیدی مبتلا بود. از عیسی خواستند كه به او كمک نماید.

³⁹He stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her. Immediately she rose up and served them.

³⁹ عیسی بر بالین او ایستاد و با پرخاش به تب فرمان داد و تب او قطع شد و آن زن فوراً برخاست و به پذیرایی آنان مشغول شد.

⁴⁰When the sun was setting, all those who had any sick with various diseases brought them to him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.

⁴⁰ هنگام غروب همهٔ کسانی‌که بیمارانی مبتلا به امراض گوناگون داشتند آنان را پیش عیسی آوردند و او دست خود را بر یک‌یک آنان گذاشت و آنان را شفا داد.

⁴¹Demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!” Rebuking them, he didn’t allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.

⁴¹ دیوها هم از عدّهٔ زیادی بیرون آمدند و فریاد می‌زدند: «تو پسر خدا هستی»، امّا او آنها را سرزنش می‌کرد و اجازه نمی‌داد حرف بزنند زیرا آنها می‌دانستند كه او مسیح موعود است.

⁴²When it was day, he departed and went into an uninhabited place, and the multitudes looked for him, and came to him, and held on to him, so that he wouldn’t go away from them.

⁴² وقتی سپیدهٔ صبح دمید، عیسی از شهر خارج شد و به جای خلوتی رفت. امّا مردم به سراغ او رفتند و وقتی به جایی‌که او بود رسیدند، سعی می‌کردند از رفتن او جلوگیری نمایند.

⁴³But he said to them, “I must preach the good news of the Kingdom of God to the other cities also. For this reason I have been sent.”

⁴³ امّا او گفت: «من باید مژدهٔ پادشاهی خدا را به شهرهای دیگر هم برسانم چون برای انجام همین كار فرستاده شده‌ام.» به این ترتیب او پیام خود را در کنیسه‌های یهودیه اعلام می‌کرد.

⁴⁴He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

⁴⁴ به این ترتیب او پیام خود را در کنیسه‌های یهودیه اعلام می‌کرد.
