¹Jesus answered and spoke again in parables to them, saying,

¹ عیسی باز هم برای مردم مَثَلی آورده گفت:

² “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,

² «پادشاهی آسمان مانند پادشاهی است كه برای عروسی پسر خود، جشنی ترتیب داد.

³ and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come.

³ او نوكران خود را فرستاد تا به دعوت شدگان بگویند که در جشن حاضر شوند، امّا آنها نخواستند بیایند.

⁴ Again he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast!”’

⁴ پادشاه بار دیگر عدّه‌ای را فرستاده به آنها فرمود كه به دعوت شدگان بگویند: 'به جشن عروسی بیایید، چون ضیافتی كه ترتیب داده‌ام آماده است، گاوها و پرواریهای خود را سر بریده و همه‌چیز را آماده کرده‌ام.'

⁵ But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise,

⁵ امّا دعوت شدگان به دعوت او اعتنایی نكردند و مشغول كار خود شدند. یكی به مزرعهٔ خود رفت و دیگری به كسب و كار خود پرداخت

⁶ and the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.

⁶ درحالی‌که دیگران، نوكران پادشاه را گرفته، زدند و آنها را كشتند.

⁷ When the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

⁷ وقتی پادشاه این را شنید، غضبناک شد و سربازان خود را فرستاد و آنها قاتلان را كشتند و شهرشان را آتش زدند.

⁸ “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy.

⁸ آنگاه پادشاه به نوكران خود گفت: 'جشن عروسی آماده است، امّا کسانی‌که دعوت كرده بودم، لایق نبودند.

⁹ Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the marriage feast.’

⁹ پس به کوچه‌ها و خیابانها بروید و هرکه را یافتید به عروسی دعوت كنید.'

¹⁰ Those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.

¹⁰ آنان رفته و هرکه را پیدا كردند -‌چه نیک و چه بد- با خود آوردند و به این ترتیب تالار از مهمانان پر شد.

¹¹ But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,

¹¹ «هنگامی‌که پادشاه وارد شد تا مهمانان را ببیند مردی را دید كه لباس عروسی بر تن نداشت.

¹² and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.

¹² پادشاه از او پرسید: 'ای دوست، چطور بدون لباس عروسی به اینجا آمده‌ای؟' او ساكت ماند.

¹³ Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’

¹³ پس پادشاه به ملازمان خود گفت: 'دست و پای او را ببندید و او را بیرون در تاریكی بیندازید در جایی‌که گریه و دندان بر دندان ساییدن وجود دارد.'

¹⁴ For many are called, but few chosen.”

¹⁴ «زیرا دعوت شدگان بسیارند امّا برگزیدگان كم هستند.»

¹⁵Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.

¹⁵ آنگاه فریسیان نقشه كشیدند كه چطور عیسی را با سخنان خودش به دام بیندازند.

¹⁶They sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach, for you aren’t partial to anyone.

¹⁶ آنها چند نفر از پیروان خود را به اتّفاق عدّه‌ای از هواداران هیرودیس به نزد عیسی فرستاده گفتند: «ای استاد، ما می‌دانیم كه تو مرد راستگویی هستی. چون به ظاهر انسان توجّهی نداری و راه خدا را بدون بیم و هراس از انسان، با راستی تعلیم می‌دهی،

¹⁷Tell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

¹⁷ پس به ما بگو عقیدهٔ تو در این باره چیست؟ آیا دادن مالیات به امپراتور روم جایز است یا نه؟»

¹⁸But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?

¹⁸ عیسی به نیرنگ آنان پی برد و به آنان فرمود: «ای ریاكاران، چرا می‌خواهید مرا امتحان كنید؟

¹⁹ Show me the tax money.” They brought to him a denarius.

¹⁹ سکّه‌ای را كه با آن مالیات خود را می‌پردازید به من نشان دهید.» آنها یک سکّهٔ نقره به او دادند.

²⁰He asked them, “Whose is this image and inscription?”

²⁰ عیسی پرسید: «این تصویر و عنوان مال كیست؟»

²¹They said to him, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

²¹ آنها جواب دادند: «مال قیصر.» عیسی به آنان فرمود: «پس آنچه را كه مال قیصر است به قیصر و آنچه را كه مال خداست به خدا بدهید.»

²²When they heard it, they marveled, and left him, and went away.

²² آنها كه از این پاسخ مات و مبهوت مانده بودند، از آنجا بلند شده رفتند و عیسی را تنها گذاشتند.

²³On that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,

²³ همان روز صدوقیان كه منكر رستاخیز مردگان هستند پیش او آمدند و از او سؤال نمودند:

²⁴saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed for his brother.’

²⁴ «ای استاد، موسی گفته است كه هرگاه شخصی بدون فرزند بمیرد برادرش باید با زن او ازدواج كند و برای او فرزندانی به وجود آورد.

²⁵Now there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no seed left his wife to his brother.

²⁵ باری، در بین ما هفت برادر بودند، اولی ازدواج كرد و قبل از آنكه دارای فرزندی شود، مُرد و همسر او به برادرش واگذار شد.

²⁶In the same way, the second also, and the third, to the seventh.

²⁶ همین‌طور دومی و سومی تا هفتمی با آن زن ازدواج كردند و بدون فرزند مُردند.

²⁷After them all, the woman died.

²⁷ آن زن هم بعد از همه مرد.

²⁸In the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her.”

²⁸ پس در روز قیامت آن زن همسر کدام‌یک از آنها خواهد بود زیرا همهٔ آنان با او ازدواج كرده بودند؟»

²⁹But Jesus answered them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.

²⁹ عیسی جواب داد: «شما در اشتباهید! نه از كلام خدا چیزی می‌دانید و نه از قدرت او!

³⁰ For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like God’s angels in heaven.

³⁰ در روز رستاخیز کسی نه زن می‌گیرد و نه شوهر می‌کند، بلكه همه در آن عالم مانند فرشتگان آسمانی هستند.

³¹ But concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,

³¹ امّا در خصوص رستاخیز مردگان، آیا نخوانده‌اید كه خود خدا به شما چه فرموده است؟

³² ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?’ Exodus 3:6 God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

³² او فرموده است: 'من خدای ابراهیم، خدای اسحاق و خدای یعقوب هستم.' خدا خدای مردگان نیست، بلكه خدای زندگان است.»

³³When the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.

³³ مردم كه این را شنیدند، از تعالیم او مات و مبهوت شدند.

³⁴But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.

³⁴ وقتی فریسیان شنیدند كه عیسی صدوقیان را مُجاب كرده است، دور او را گرفتند

³⁵One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.

³⁵ و یک نفر از آنها كه معلّم شریعت بود از روی امتحان از عیسی سؤالی نموده گفت:

³⁶“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”

³⁶ «ای استاد، کدام‌یک از احكام شریعت از همه بزرگتر است؟»

³⁷Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ Deuteronomy 6:5

³⁷ عیسی جواب داد: «خداوند، خدای خود را با تمام دل و تمام جان و تمام عقل خود دوست بدار.

³⁸ This is the first and great commandment.

³⁸ این اولین و بزرگترین حكم شریعت است.

³⁹ A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Leviticus 19:18

³⁹ دومین حكمی كه به همان اندازه مهم است شبیه اولی است، یعنی همسایه‌ات را مانند جان خود دوست بدار.

⁴⁰ The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”

⁴⁰ در این دو حكم تمام تورات و نوشته‌های انبیا‌ خلاصه شده است.»

⁴¹Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,

⁴¹ عیسی از آن فریسیانی كه اطراف او ایستاده بودند پرسید:

⁴²saying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of David.”

⁴² «عقیدهٔ شما دربارهٔ مسیح چیست؟ او فرزند كیست؟» آنها جواب دادند: «او فرزند داوود است.»

⁴³He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,

⁴³ عیسی از آنها پرسید: «پس چطور است كه داوود با الهام از جانب خدا او را خداوند می‌خواند؟ زیرا داوود می‌گوید:

⁴⁴ ‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?’ Psalm 110:1

⁴⁴ 'خداوند به خداوند من گفت: بر دست راست من بنشین تا دشمنانت را زیر پای تو اندازم.'

⁴⁵ “If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”

⁴⁵ او چطور می‌تواند فرزند داوود باشد درصورتی كه خود داوود او را خداوند می‌خواند؟» هیچ‌کس نتوانست در جواب او سخنی بگوید و از آن روز به بعد دیگر کسی جرأت نكرد از او سؤالی بپرسد.

⁴⁶No one was able to answer him a word, neither did any man dare ask him any more questions from that day forth.

⁴⁶ هیچ‌کس نتوانست در جواب او سخنی بگوید و از آن روز به بعد دیگر کسی جرأت نكرد از او سؤالی بپرسد.
