¹It happened, when Jesus had finished all these words, that he said to his disciples,

¹ در پایان این سخنان عیسی به شاگردان خود گفت:

² “You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”

² «شما می‌دانید كه دو روز دیگر عید فصح است و پسر انسان به دست دشمنان تسلیم می‌شود و آنها او را مصلوب می‌کنند.»

³Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people were gathered together in the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas.

³ در همین وقت سران كاهنان و مشایخ قوم در کاخ قیافا كاهن اعظم جمع شدند

⁴They took counsel together that they might take Jesus by deceit, and kill him.

⁴ و مشورت كردند كه چگونه عیسی را با حیله دستگیر كرده به قتل برسانند.

⁵But they said, “Not during the feast, lest a riot occur among the people.”

⁵ آنان گفتند: «این كار نباید در روزهای عید انجام گردد، مبادا آشوب و بلوایی در میان مردم ایجاد شود.»

⁶Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

⁶ وقتی عیسی در بیت‌عنیا در منزل شمعون جذامی بود،

⁷a woman came to him having an alabaster jar of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he sat at the table.

⁷ زنی با شیشه‌ای از عطر گرانبها پیش او آمد و درحالی‌که عیسی سر سفره نشسته بود، آن زن عطر را روی سر او ریخت.

⁸But when his disciples saw this, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste?

⁸ شاگردان از دیدن این کار، عصبانی شده گفتند: «این اصراف برای چیست؟

⁹For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.”

⁹ ما می‌توانستیم آن را به قیمت خوبی بفروشیم و پولش را به فقرا بدهیم!»

¹⁰However, knowing this, Jesus said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? Because she has done a good work for me.

¹⁰ عیسی این را فهمید و به آنان گفت: «چرا مزاحم این زن می‌شوید؟ او كار بسیار خوبی برای من كرده است.

¹¹ For you always have the poor with you; but you don’t always have me.

¹¹ فقرا همیشه با شما خواهند بود امّا من همیشه با شما نیستم.

¹² For in pouring this ointment on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.

¹² او با ریختن این عطر بر بدن من، مرا برای تدفین آماده ساخته است.

¹³ Most certainly I tell you, wherever this Good News is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of as a memorial of her.”

¹³ بدانید كه در هر جای عالم كه این انجیل بشارت داده شود آنچه او كرده است به یاد بود او نقل خواهد شد.»

¹⁴Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests,

¹⁴ آنگاه یهودای اسخریوطی كه یکی از آن دوازده حواری بود پیش سران كاهنان رفت

¹⁵and said, “What are you willing to give me, that I should deliver him to you?” They weighed out for him thirty pieces of silver.

¹⁵ و گفت: «اگر عیسی را به شما تسلیم كنم به من چه خواهید داد؟» آنان سی سكّهٔ نقره را شمرده به او دادند.

¹⁶From that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

¹⁶ از آن وقت یهودا به دنبال فرصت مناسبی بود تا عیسی را تسلیم نماید.

¹⁷Now on the first day of unleavened bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying to him, “Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?”

¹⁷ در نخستین روز عید فطیر، شاگردان نزد عیسی آمده از او پرسیدند: «كجا میل داری برای تو شام فصح را آماده كنیم؟»

¹⁸He said, “Go into the city to a certain person, and tell him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is at hand. I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples.”’”

¹⁸ عیسی جواب داد: «در شهر نزد فلان شخص بروید و به او بگویید: استاد می‌گوید وقت من نزدیک است و فصح را با شاگردانم در منزل تو نگاه خواهم داشت.»

¹⁹The disciples did as Jesus commanded them, and they prepared the Passover.

¹⁹ شاگردان طبق دستور عیسی عمل كرده شام فصح را حاضر ساختند.

²⁰Now when evening had come, he was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples.

²⁰ وقتی شب شد عیسی با دوازده شاگرد خود بر سر سفره نشست.

²¹As they were eating, he said, “Most certainly I tell you that one of you will betray me.”

²¹ در ضمن شام فرمود: «بدانید كه یکی از شما مرا تسلیم دشمن خواهد كرد.»

²²They were exceedingly sorrowful, and each began to ask him, “It isn’t me, is it, Lord?”

²² آنان بسیار ناراحت شدند و یکی پس از دیگری پرسیدند: «خداوندا، آیا من آن شخص هستم؟»

²³He answered, “He who dipped his hand with me in the dish, the same will betray me.

²³ عیسی جواب داد: «کسی‌که دست خود را با من در كاسه فرو می‌کند، مرا تسلیم خواهد كرد.

²⁴ The Son of Man goes, even as it is written of him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for that man if he had not been born.”

²⁴ پسر انسان به همان راهی خواهد رفت كه در کتاب‌مقدّس برای او تعیین شده است، امّا وای بر آن‌کسی كه پسر انسان توسط او تسلیم شود. برای آن شخص بهتر بود كه هرگز به دنیا نمی‌آمد.»

²⁵Judas, who betrayed him, answered, “It isn’t me, is it, Rabbi?” He said to him, “You said it.”

²⁵ آنگاه یهودای خائن در پاسخ گفت: «ای استاد، آیا آن شخص من هستم؟» عیسی جواب داد: «همان‌طور است كه می‌گویی.»

²⁶As they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks for TR reads “blessed” instead of “gave thanks for” it, and broke it. He gave to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”

²⁶ شام هنوز تمام نشده بود كه عیسی نان را برداشت و پس از شكرگزاری آن را پاره كرده به شاگردان داد و گفت: «بگیرید و بخورید، این بدن من است.»

²⁷He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave to them, saying, “All of you drink it,

²⁷ آنگاه پیاله را برداشت و پس از شكرگزاری آن را به شاگردان داد و گفت: «همهٔ شما از این بنوشید

²⁸ for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins.

²⁸ زیرا این خون من است كه اجرای پیمان تازه را تأیید می‌کند و برای آمرزش گناهان بسیاری ریخته می‌شود.

²⁹ But I tell you that I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on, until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father’s Kingdom.”

²⁹ بدانید كه من دیگر از میوهٔ مو نخواهم نوشید تا روزی كه آن را با شما در پادشاهی پدرم تازه بنوشم.»

³⁰When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

³⁰ پس از آن، سرود فصح را خواندند و به طرف كوه زیتون رفتند.

³¹Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ Zechariah 13:7

³¹ آنگاه عیسی به آنان فرمود: «امشب همهٔ شما مرا ترک خواهید كرد، زیرا کتاب‌مقدّس می‌فرماید: 'شبان را می‌زنم و گوسفندان گلّه پراكنده خواهند شد.'

³² But after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee.”

³² امّا پس از آنكه دوباره زنده شوم قبل از شما به جلیل خواهم رفت.»

³³But Peter answered him, “Even if all will be made to stumble because of you, I will never be made to stumble.”

³³ پطرس جواب داد: «حتّی اگر همه تو را ترک نمایند، من هرگز چنین كاری نخواهم كرد.»

³⁴Jesus said to him, “Most certainly I tell you that tonight, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”

³⁴ عیسی به او گفت: «یقین بدان كه همین امشب پیش از آنكه خروس بخواند، تو سه بار خواهی گفت كه مرا نمی‌شناسی.»

³⁵Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you.” All of the disciples also said likewise.

³⁵ پطرس گفت: «حتّی اگر لازم شود با تو بمیرم. هرگز نخواهم گفت كه تو را نمی‌شناسم.» بقیّهٔ شاگردان نیز همین را گفتند.

³⁶Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go there and pray.”

³⁶ در این وقت عیسی با شاگردان خود به محلی به نام جتسیمانی رسید و به آنان گفت: «در اینجا بنشینید، من برای دعا به آنجا می‌روم.»

³⁷He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and severely troubled.

³⁷ او پطرس و دو پسر زِبدی را با خود برد. غم و اندوه بر او مستولی شد

³⁸Then he said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch with me.”

³⁸ و به آنان گفت: «جان من از شدّت غم نزدیک به مرگ است، شما در اینجا بمانید و با من بیدار باشید.»

³⁹He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire.”

³⁹ عیسی كمی جلوتر رفت، رو به زمین نهاد و دعا كرده گفت: «ای پدر اگر ممكن است، این پیاله را از من دور كن، امّا نه به ارادهٔ من بلكه به ارادهٔ تو.»

⁴⁰He came to the disciples, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What, couldn’t you watch with me for one hour?

⁴⁰ بعد پیش آن سه شاگرد برگشت و دید آنان خوابیده‌اند، پس به پطرس فرمود: «آیا هیچ‌یک از شما نمی‌توانست یک ساعت با من بیدار بماند؟

⁴¹ Watch and pray, that you don’t enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

⁴¹ بیدار باشید و دعا كنید تا دچار وسوسه نشوید، روح مایل است امّا جسم ناتوان.»

⁴²Again, a second time he went away, and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cup can’t pass away from me unless I drink it, your desire be done.”

⁴² عیسی بار دیگر رفت دعا نموده گفت: «ای پدر، اگر راه دیگری نیست جز اینکه من این پیاله را بنوشم پس ارادهٔ تو انجام شود.»

⁴³He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.

⁴³ باز عیسی آمده آنان را در خواب دید، زیرا كه چشمان ایشان از خواب سنگین شده بود.

⁴⁴He left them again, went away, and prayed a third time, saying the same words.

⁴⁴ پس، از پیش آنان رفت و برای بار سوم به همان كلمات دعا كرد.

⁴⁵Then he came to his disciples, and said to them, “Sleep on now, and take your rest. Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

⁴⁵ آنگاه نزد شاگردان برگشت و به آنان گفت: «باز هم خواب هستید؟ هنوز استراحت می‌کنید؟ ساعت آن رسیده است كه پسر انسان به دست گناهكاران تسلیم شود.

⁴⁶ Arise, let’s be going. Behold, he who betrays me is at hand.”

⁴⁶ برخیزید برویم، آن خائن اکنون می‌آید.»

⁴⁷While he was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priest and elders of the people.

⁴⁷ عیسی هنوز صحبت خود را تمام نكرده بود كه یهودا، یکی از دوازده حواری، همراه گروه كثیری از کسانی‌که سران كاهنان و مشایخ قوم فرستاده بودند به آنجا رسیدند. این گروه همه با شمشیر و چماق مسلّح بودند.

⁴⁸Now he who betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, “Whoever I kiss, he is the one. Seize him.”

⁴⁸ آن شاگرد خائن به همراهان خود علامتی داده و گفته بود: «کسی را كه می‌بوسم همان شخص است، او را بگیرید.»

⁴⁹Immediately he came to Jesus, and said, “Hail, Rabbi!” and kissed him.

⁴⁹ پس یهودا فوراً به طرف عیسی رفت و گفت: «سلام ای استاد» و او را بوسید.

⁵⁰Jesus said to him, “Friend, why are you here?” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

⁵⁰ عیسی در جواب گفت: «ای رفیق، كار خود را زودتر انجام بده.» در همین موقع آن گروه جلو رفتند و عیسی را دستگیر كرده، محكم گرفتند.

⁵¹Behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear.

⁵¹ در این لحظه یکی از کسانی‌که با عیسی بودند، دست به شمشیر خود برد، آن را كشید و به غلام كاهن اعظم زده گوش او را برید.

⁵²Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place, for all those who take the sword will die by the sword.

⁵² ولی عیسی به او فرمود: «شمشیر خود را غلاف كن. هرکه شمشیر كشد به شمشیر كشته می‌شود.

⁵³ Or do you think that I couldn’t ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels?

⁵³ مگر نمی‌دانی كه من می‌توانم از پدر خود بخواهم كه بیش از دوازده لشکر از فرشتگان را به یاری من بفرستد؟

⁵⁴ How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so?”

⁵⁴ امّا در آن صورت پیشگویی‌های کتاب‌مقدّس چگونه تحقّق می‌باید؟»

⁵⁵In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes, “Have you come out as against a robber with swords and clubs to seize me? I sat daily in the temple teaching, and you didn’t arrest me.

⁵⁵ آنگاه عیسی رو به جمعیّت كرده گفت: «مگر می‌خواهید یک راهزن را بگیرید كه این‌طور مسلّح با شمشیر و چماق برای دستگیری من آمده‌اید؟ من هر روز در معبد بزرگ می‌نشستم و تعلیم می‌دادم و شما دست به سوی من دراز نكردید،

⁵⁶ But all this has happened, that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left him, and fled.

⁵⁶ امّا تمام این چیزها اتّفاق افتاد تا آنچه انبیا در کتاب‌مقدّس نوشته‌اند به انجام رسد.» در این وقت همهٔ شاگردان او را ترک كرده، گریختند.

⁵⁷Those who had taken Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.

⁵⁷ آن گروه عیسی را به خانهٔ قیافا كاهن اعظم، كه علما و مشایخ یهود در آنجا جمع بودند، بردند.

⁵⁸But Peter followed him from a distance, to the court of the high priest, and entered in and sat with the officers, to see the end.

⁵⁸ پطرس از دور به دنبال عیسی آمد تا به حیاط خانهٔ كاهن اعظم رسید و وارد شده در میان خدمتكاران نشست تا پایان كار را ببیند.

⁵⁹Now the chief priests, the elders, and the whole council sought false testimony against Jesus, that they might put him to death;

⁵⁹ سران كاهنان و تمام اعضای شورا سعی می‌کردند دلیلی علیه عیسی پیدا كنند تا بر اساس آن او را به قتل برسانند.

⁶⁰and they found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward,

⁶⁰ امّا با وجود اینكه بسیاری جلو رفتند و شهادتهای دروغ دادند شورا نتوانست دلیلی پیدا كند. سرانجام دو نفر برخاستند

⁶¹and said, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.’”

⁶¹ و گفتند: «این مرد گفته است: من می‌توانم معبد بزرگ را خراب كرده و در ظرف سه روز دوباره بنا كنم.»

⁶²The high priest stood up, and said to him, “Have you no answer? What is this that these testify against you?”

⁶² كاهن اعظم برخاسته از عیسی پرسید: «آیا به اتّهاماتی كه این شاهدان به تو وارد می‌سازند جواب نمی‌دهی؟»

⁶³But Jesus held his peace. The high priest answered him, “I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God.”

⁶³ امّا عیسی ساكت ماند. پس كاهن اعظم گفت: «تو را به خدای زنده سوگند می‌دهم به ما بگو آیا تو مسیح، پسر خدا هستی؟»

⁶⁴Jesus said to him, “You have said it. Nevertheless, I tell you, after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of the sky.”

⁶⁴ عیسی پاسخ داد: «همان است كه تو می‌گویی. امّا همهٔ شما بدانید كه بعد از این پسر انسان را خواهید دید كه بر دست راست قادر مطلق نشسته و بر ابرهای آسمان می‌آید.»

⁶⁵Then the high priest tore his clothing, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Behold, now you have heard his blasphemy.

⁶⁵ كاهن اعظم گریبان خود را دریده گفت: «او كفر گفت! آیا شهادتی بالاتر از این می‌خواهید؟ شما حالا كفر او را با گوش خود شنیدید.

⁶⁶What do you think?” They answered, “He is worthy of death!”

⁶⁶ نظر شما چیست؟» آنها جواب دادند: «او مستوجب اعدام است.»

⁶⁷Then they spit in his face and beat him with their fists, and some slapped him,

⁶⁷ آنگاه آب دهان به صورتش انداخته او را زدند و کسانی‌که بر رخسارش سیلی می‌زدند،

⁶⁸saying, “Prophesy to us, you Christ! Who hit you?”

⁶⁸ می‌گفتند: «حالا ای مسیح از غیب بگو چه کسی تو را زده است.»

⁶⁹Now Peter was sitting outside in the court, and a maid came to him, saying, “You were also with Jesus, the Galilean!”

⁶⁹ در این وقت پطرس در بیرون، در حیاط خانه نشسته بود كه کنیزی پیش او آمده گفت: «تو هم با عیسی جلیلی بودی.»

⁷⁰But he denied it before them all, saying, “I don’t know what you are talking about.”

⁷⁰ پطرس در حضور همه منكر شده گفت: «من نمی‌دانم تو چه می‌گویی.»

⁷¹When he had gone out onto the porch, someone else saw him, and said to those who were there, “This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth.”

⁷¹ پطرس از آنجا به طرف در حیاط رفت و در آنجا کنیز دیگری او را دیده به اطرافیان خود گفت: «این شخص با عیسای ناصری بود.»

⁷²Again he denied it with an oath, “I don’t know the man.”

⁷² باز هم پطرس منكر شده گفت: «من قسم می‌‌‌‌‌‌خورم كه آن مرد را نمی‌شناسم.»

⁷³After a little while those who stood by came and said to Peter, “Surely you are also one of them, for your speech makes you known.”

⁷³ كمی بعد کسانی‌که آنجا ایستاده بودند، پیش پطرس آمده به او گفتند: «البتّه تو یکی از آنها هستی زیرا از لهجه‌ات پیداست.»

⁷⁴Then he began to curse and to swear, “I don’t know the man!” Immediately the rooster crowed.

⁷⁴ امّا پطرس سوگند خورده گفت: «لعنت خدا بر من اگر آن مرد را بشناسم.» در همان لحظه خروس بانگ زد و پطرس به‌یاد آورد كه عیسی به او گفته بود: «پیش از آنكه خروس بخواند، تو سه بار خواهی گفت كه مرا نمی‌شناسی.» پس بیرون رفت و زار زار گریست.

⁷⁵Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” He went out and wept bitterly.

⁷⁵ و پطرس به‌یاد آورد كه عیسی به او گفته بود: «پیش از آنكه خروس بخواند، تو سه بار خواهی گفت كه مرا نمی‌شناسی.» پس بیرون رفت و زار زار گریست.
