¹Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

¹ خداوند به موسی فرمود:

²“Speak to the children of Israel, and take of them rods, one for each fathers’ house, of all their princes according to their fathers’ houses, twelve rods: write every man’s name on his rod.

² «به قوم اسرائیل بگو که هر یک از رهبران دوازده طایفه، یک عصا برای تو بیاورد. تو نام هر کدام آنها را بر عصای او بنویس.

³You shall write Aaron’s name on the rod of Levi; for there shall be one rod for each head of their fathers’ houses.

³ نام هارون باید بر عصای طایفهٔ لاوی نوشته شود.

⁴You shall lay them up in the Tent of Meeting before the testimony, where I meet with you.

⁴ سپس آن عصاها را به خیمهٔ عبادت ببرید و در مقابل صندوق پیمان قرار دهید، یعنی مکانی که با شما ملاقات می‌کنم.

⁵It shall happen, that the rod of the man whom I shall choose shall bud: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against you.”

⁵ آنگاه عصای کسی‌که من او را انتخاب کرده‌ام شکوفه می‌دهد. به این ترتیب به شکایات همیشگی قوم برضد تو، خاتمه می‌دهم.»

⁶Moses spoke to the children of Israel; and all their princes gave him rods, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.

⁶ موسی با مردم اسرائیل صحبت کرد و هر یک از رهبران دوازده طایفه، برای او یک عصا آورد

⁷Moses laid up the rods before Yahweh in the tent of the testimony.

⁷ و موسی آنها را گرفته، با عصای هارون در خیمهٔ عبادت برد و در برابر صندوق پیمان خداوند گذاشت.

⁸It happened on the next day, that Moses went into the tent of the testimony; and behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and put forth buds, and produced blossoms, and bore ripe almonds.

⁸ روز بعد موسی وارد خیمهٔ عبادت شد و دید که عصای هارون که نام طایفهٔ لاوی بر آن نوشته شده بود شکوفه داده و بادام رسیده بار آورده است.

⁹Moses brought out all the rods from before Yahweh to all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.

⁹ موسی عصاها را بیرون آورد و به قوم اسرائیل نشان داد. بعد از آن که آنها عصاها را دیدند، هر یک از رهبران عصای خود را پس گرفتند.

¹⁰Yahweh said to Moses, “Put back the rod of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the children of rebellion; that you may make an end of their murmurings against me, that they not die.”

¹⁰ خداوند به موسی فرمود که عصای هارون را دوباره در برابر صندوق پیمان بگذارد تا اخطاری برای این مردم سرکش باشد و بدانند که اگر از شکایت دست نکشند، از بین می‌روند.

¹¹Moses did so. As Yahweh commanded him, so he did.

¹¹ پس موسی هر آنچه را که خداوند فرموده بود، انجام داد.

¹²The children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, “Behold, we perish! We are undone! We are all undone!

¹² سپس قوم اسرائیل به موسی شکایت کرده گفتند: «برای ما دیگر امیدی باقی نمانده است. حالا هرکسی که نزدیک خیمهٔ عبادت برود، کشته می‌شود، پس همهٔ ما هلاک می‌گردیم.»

¹³Everyone who comes near, who comes near to the tabernacle of Yahweh, dies! Will we all perish?”

¹³ حالا هرکسی که نزدیک خیمهٔ عبادت برود، کشته می‌شود، پس همهٔ ما هلاک می‌گردیم.»
