¹Now this is the history of the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that Yahweh spoke with Moses in Mount Sinai.

¹ این است خانوادهٔ هارون و موسی، در زمانی‌که خداوند در کوه سینا با موسی صحبت کرد.

²These are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

² هارون دارای چهار پسر به نامهای ناداب (پسر اول)، ابیهو، العازار و ایتامار بود.

³These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests who were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest’s office.

³ این چهار نفر برای خدمت کهانت انتخاب و تقدیس شدند.

⁴Nadab and Abihu died before Yahweh, when they offered strange fire before Yahweh, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children. Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the presence of Aaron their father.

⁴ امّا ناداب و ابیهو به‌خاطر اینکه در بیابان سینا آتش غیر مجاز به حضور خداوند تقدیم کردند، کشته شدند و فرزندی از آنها باقی نماند. پس تنها العازار و ایتامار در دوران حیات پدر خود به او کمک می‌کردند.

⁵Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

⁵ خداوند به موسی فرمود:

⁶“Bring the tribe of Levi near, and set them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister to him.

⁶ «طایفهٔ لاوی را فرا بخوان و آنها را به عنوان دستیاران هارون برگزین.

⁷They shall keep his requirements, and the requirements of the whole congregation before the Tent of Meeting, to do the service of the tabernacle.

⁷ آنها بایستی کارهای لازم برای خیمهٔ حضور من، وظایف کاهنان و نیز تمام قوم را انجام دهند.

⁸They shall keep all the furnishings of the Tent of Meeting, and the obligations of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.

⁸ آنها باید مسئولیّت تمام لوازم خیمه و نیز انجام وظایف بقیّهٔ بنی‌اسرائیل را به عهده بگیرند.

⁹You shall give the Levites to Aaron and to his sons. They are wholly given to him on the behalf of the children of Israel.

⁹ تنها مسئولیّتی که لاویان دارند این است که هارون و پسران او را خدمت نمایند.

¹⁰You shall appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall keep their priesthood. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death.”

¹⁰ تنها هارون و پسرانش را به وظیفهٔ کهانت بگمار و اگر کس دیگری چنین کند باید کشته شود.»

¹¹Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

¹¹ خداوند به موسی فرمود:

¹²“Behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn who open the womb among the children of Israel; and the Levites shall be mine:

¹² «من لاویان را به جای تمام نخستزادگان قوم اسرائیل برای خود انتخاب کرده‌ام و آنها متعلّق به من هستند.

¹³for all the firstborn are mine. On the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I made holy to me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and animal. They shall be mine. I am Yahweh.”

¹³ تمام نخستزادگان از آن من هستند، هنگامی‌که من تمام نخستزادگان را در مصر نابود کردم، نخستزادگان اسرائیل را چه انسان و چه حیوان برای خود تقدیس کردم، آنها به من تعلّق خواهند داشت، من خداوند هستم.»

¹⁴Yahweh spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,

¹⁴ بار دیگر خداوند در بیابان سینا به موسی فرمود:

¹⁵“Count the children of Levi by their fathers’ houses, by their families. You shall count every male from a month old and upward.”

¹⁵ «لاویان را برحسب طایفه و خاندانشان بشمار و پسران آنها را از یک ماهه و بالاتر سرشماری کن.»

¹⁶Moses numbered them according to the word of Yahweh, as he was commanded.

¹⁶ موسی طبق دستور خداوند، آنها را سرشماری کرد.

¹⁷These were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari.

¹⁷ نامهای پسران طایفهٔ لاوی از این قرار می‌باشند: جرشون، قهات و مراری.

¹⁸These are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families: Libni and Shimei.

¹⁸ پسران خاندان جرشون: لبنی و شمعی.

¹⁹The sons of Kohath by their families: Amram, and Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

¹⁹ پسران خاندان قهات: عمرام، یصهار، حبرون و عُزیئیل.

²⁰The sons of Merari by their families: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites according to their fathers’ houses.

²⁰ پسران خاندان مراری: محلی و موشی.

²¹Of Gershon was the family of the Libnites, and the family of the Shimeites: these are the families of the Gershonites.

²¹ خاندان جرشون جدّ فامیلهایی لبنی و شمعی بود.

²²Those who were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, even those who were numbered of them were seven thousand five hundred.

²² تعداد مردان آنها، از یک ماهه و بالاتر، به هفت هزار و پانصد نفر می‌رسید.

²³The families of the Gershonites shall encamp behind the tabernacle westward.

²³ اردوگاه آنها در سمت غربی خیمهٔ عبادت بود.

²⁴The prince of the fathers’ house of the Gershonites shall be Eliasaph the son of Lael.

²⁴ سرکردهٔ خاندان جرشونیان، الیاساف پسر لایل بود.

²⁵The duty of the sons of Gershon in the Tent of Meeting shall be the tabernacle, and the tent, its covering, and the screen for the door of the Tent of Meeting,

²⁵ وظیفهٔ آنها مراقبت از خیمهٔ عبادت، پوششها، پردهٔ دروازهٔ دخول خیمه،

²⁶and the hangings of the court, and the screen for the door of the court, which is by the tabernacle, and around the altar, and its cords for all of its service.

²⁶ پرده‌های دیوارهای اطراف خیمه و قربانگاه، پرده در ورودی حیاط و طنابها و خدمات مربوط به آنها بود.

²⁷Of Kohath was the family of the Amramites, and the family of the Izharites, and the family of the Hebronites, and the family of the Uzzielites: these are the families of the Kohathites.

²⁷ قهات جدّ خاندانهای عمرام، یصهار، حبرون و عُزیئیل بود.

²⁸According to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, there were eight thousand six hundred, keeping the requirements of the sanctuary.

²⁸ تعداد مردان آنها، از یک ماهه و بالاتر، هشت‌هزار و ششصد بالغ بود.

²⁹The families of the sons of Kohath shall encamp on the south side of the tabernacle.

²⁹ اردوگاه آنها در سمت جنوبی خیمهٔ ‌عبادت،

³⁰The prince of the fathers’ house of the families of the Kohathites shall be Elizaphan the son of Uzziel.

³⁰ و رهبر خاندان الیصافان، پسر عُزیئیل بود.

³¹Their duty shall be the ark, the table, the lamp stand, the altars, the vessels of the sanctuary with which they minister, and the screen, and all its service.

³¹ وظیفهٔ ایشان مراقبت از صندوق پیمان خداوند، میز نان مقدّس، چراغدانها، قربانگاه، ظروفی‌ که کاهنان در مکان مقدّس از آنها استفاده می‌کردند، پردهٔ بین مقدّسترین مکان و کارهای مربوط به آنها بود.

³²Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be prince of the princes of the Levites, with the oversight of those who keep the requirements of the sanctuary.

³² العازار، پسر هارون، رئیس رهبران لاویان بود و بر امور مستخدمان مکان مقدّس نظارت می‌کرد.

³³Of Merari was the family of the Mahlites, and the family of the Mushites. These are the families of Merari.

³³ مراری جدّ خاندانهای مَحلْی و موشی بود.

³⁴Those who were numbered of them, according to the number of all the males, from a month old and upward, were six thousand two hundred.

³⁴ تعداد مردان ایشان، از یک ماهه و بالاتر، به شش هزار و دویست نفر می‌رسید.

³⁵The prince of the fathers’ house of the families of Merari was Zuriel the son of Abihail. They shall encamp on the north side of the tabernacle.

³⁵ سرکردهٔ این دو خاندان صوریئیل، پسر ابیحایل بود. موضع اردوگاه آنها در سمت شمال خیمهٔ عبادت بود.

³⁶The appointed duty of the sons of Merari shall be the tabernacle’s boards, its bars, its pillars, its sockets, all its instruments, all its service,

³⁶ آنها مسئولیّت چهار چوب خیمهٔ عبادت، پشت‌بندها، ستونها، پایه‌های ستونها و دیگر اجزا و امور مربوطهٔ آنها را به عهده داشتند.

³⁷the pillars of the court around it, their sockets, their pins, and their cords.

³⁷ آنها همچنین از ستونهای اطراف حیاط و پایه‌ها و میخها و طنابهای خیمه مراقبت می‌کردند.

³⁸Those who encamp before the tabernacle eastward, in front of the Tent of Meeting toward the sunrise, shall be Moses, and Aaron and his sons, keeping the requirements of the sanctuary for the duty of the children of Israel. The stranger who comes near shall be put to death.

³⁸ موسی، هارون و پسرانش می‌بایست اردوی در جلوی خیمهٔ عبادت، یعنی در سمت شرق آن برپا کنند. آنها برای مردم اسرائیل مراسم مذهبی را در مکان مقدّس انجام می‌دادند. به غیراز آنها، اگر هر ‌کسی دیگر به داخل جایگاه مقدّس قدم می‌گذاشت، سزایش مرگ بود.

³⁹All who were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of Yahweh, by their families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty-two thousand.

³⁹ مجموع کلّ مردان یک ماهه و بالاتر لاوی، که موسی و هارون برحسب خاندانها، مطابق دستور خداوند سرشماری کردند، بیست و دو هزار نفر بود.

⁴⁰Yahweh said to Moses, “Number all the firstborn males of the children of Israel from a month old and upward, and take the number of their names.

⁴⁰ خداوند به موسی فرمود: «همهٔ پسران ارشد قوم اسرائیل به من تعلّق دارند. پس آنها را از یک ماه و بالاتر سرشماری و نامهای آنها را ثبت کن.

⁴¹You shall take the Levites for me (I am Yahweh) instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel; and the livestock of the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the livestock of the children of Israel.”

⁴¹ شما باید لاویان را به جای نخستزادگان اسرائیل و نخستزادگان دامهای ایشان را به جای نخستزادگان دامهای اسرائیل برای من بپذیرید، من خداوند هستم.»

⁴²Moses numbered, as Yahweh commanded him, all the firstborn among the children of Israel.

⁴² بنابراین موسی طبق امر خداوند پسران اول قوم اسرائیل را شمرد

⁴³All the firstborn males according to the number of names, from a month old and upward, of those who were numbered of them, were twenty-two thousand two hundred seventy-three.

⁴³ تعداد آنها از یک ماهه و بالاتر بیست و دو هزار و دویست و هفتاد و سه نفر بود.

⁴⁴Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

⁴⁴ خداوند به موسی فرمود:

⁴⁵“Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the livestock of the Levites instead of their livestock; and the Levites shall be mine. I am Yahweh.

⁴⁵ «حالا لاویان را به جای پسران اول اسرائیل و حیواناتشان را به جای نخستزادگان حیوانات برای من وقف کن.

⁴⁶For the redemption of the two hundred seventy-three of the firstborn of the children of Israel, who exceed the number of the Levites,

⁴⁶ چون تعداد نخستزادگان قوم اسرائیل دویست و هفتاد و سه نفر بیشتر از تعداد لاویان است، تو باید آن تعداد را بازخرید کنی.

⁴⁷you shall take five shekels apiece for each one; after the shekel of the sanctuary you shall take them (the shekel is twenty gerahs):

⁴⁷ برای هر نفر آن پنج تکه نقره بگیر

⁴⁸and you shall give the money, with which their remainder is redeemed, to Aaron and to his sons.”

⁴⁸ و به هارون و پسرانش بپرداز.» موسی خداوند را اطاعت کرد و مبلغ بازخرید دویست و هفتاد و سه نفر را، که عبارت از یک‌هزار و سیصد و شصت و پنج تکه نقره بود، به هارون و پسرانش پرداخت.

⁴⁹Moses took the redemption money from those who exceeded the number of those who were redeemed by the Levites;

⁴⁹ موسی خداوند را اطاعت کرد و مبلغ بازخرید دویست و هفتاد و سه نفر را، که عبارت از یک‌هزار و سیصد و شصت و پنج تکه نقره بود، به هارون و پسرانش پرداخت.

⁵⁰from the firstborn of the children of Israel he took the money, one thousand three hundred sixty-five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary:

⁵¹and Moses gave the redemption money to Aaron and to his sons, according to the word of Yahweh, as Yahweh commanded Moses.
