¹The heads of the fathers’ households of the family of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spoke before Moses, and before the princes, the heads of the fathers’ households of the children of Israel:

¹ رهبران خاندانهای جلعاد پسر ماخیر، نوهٔ منسی پسر یوسف، پیش موسی و رهبران اسرائیل آمده به موسی گفتند:

²and they said, “Yahweh commanded my lord to give the land for inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my lord was commanded by Yahweh to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother to his daughters.

² «خداوند به تو فرمود که زمین را به قید قرعه بین قوم اسرائیل تقسیم کنی و سهم برادر ما، صلفحاد را به دخترانش بدهی.

³If they are married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then will their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of our fathers, and will be added to the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they shall belong: so will it be taken away from the lot of our inheritance.

³ ولی اگر آنها با مردان طایفهٔ دیگری ازدواج کنند، زمین آنها به همان طایفه انتقال می‌یابد و در نتیجه به دارایی آن طایفه اضافه می‌گردد و از زمین ما کاسته می‌شود.

⁴When the jubilee of the children of Israel shall be, then will their inheritance be added to the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they shall belong: so will their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.”

⁴ در سال پنجاهم، هنگامی‌که زمینها فروخته شد، به صاحبان اصلی آن بازگردانده می‌شود، این زمینها را نمی‌توان به طایفهٔ ما باز گرداند.»

⁵Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of Yahweh, saying, “The tribe of the sons of Joseph speaks right.

⁵ آنگاه موسی این دستورات را از جانب خداوند به مردم اسرائیل داد: «مردان طایفهٔ یوسف راست می‌گویند.

⁶This is the thing which Yahweh does command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them be married to whom they think best; only into the family of the tribe of their father shall they be married.

⁶ آنچه خداوند در مورد دختران صلفحاد می‌فرماید، این است: به آنها اجازه بدهید، با هر مردی که می‌خواهند، ازدواج کنند، امّا این مردان باید از طایفهٔ خودشان باشند.

⁷So shall no inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe; for the children of Israel shall all keep the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.

⁷ میراث مردم اسرائیل نباید از یک طایفه به طایفهٔ دیگر منتقل شود، و باید به صورت اوّلیه باقی بماند.

⁸Every daughter who possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel shall be wife to one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may possess every man the inheritance of his fathers.

⁸ دخترانی که در طایفه‌های اسرائیل، وارث زمین هستند باید فقط با مردان طایفهٔ خودشان ازدواج کنند تا از زمین آن طایفه کاسته نشود.

⁹So shall no inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; for the tribes of the children of Israel shall each keep his own inheritance.”

⁹ به این ترتیب، زمین یک طایفه به طایفهٔ دیگری منتقل نمی‌شود.»

¹⁰The daughters of Zelophehad did as Yahweh commanded Moses:

¹⁰ پس دختران صلفحاد، یعنی محله، ترصه، حجله، ملکه و نوعه، فرمان خداوند را که به موسی داده بود بجا آوردند.

¹¹for Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to their father’s brothers’ sons.

¹¹ آنها با مردان طایفهٔ منسی پسر یوسف ازدواج کردند و میراث آنها در طایفهٔ خودشان باقی ماند. این است احکام و مقرّراتی که خداوند، توسط موسی به قوم اسرائیل داد، هنگامی‌که قوم اسرائیل دردشت موآب، کنار رود اردن و مقابل شهر اریحا بودند.

¹²They were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph; and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.

¹² این است احکام و مقرّراتی که خداوند، توسط موسی به قوم اسرائیل داد، هنگامی‌که قوم اسرائیل دردشت موآب، کنار رود اردن و مقابل شهر اریحا بودند.

¹³These are the commandments and the ordinances which Yahweh commanded by Moses to the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho.
