1Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

خداوند به موسی فرمود: «به هارون بگو که چراغها را در چراغدانها طوری قرار دهد که نور هر هفت چراغ در جلوی چراغدانها بتابد.»
2“Speak to Aaron, and tell him, ‘When you light the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand.’”

هارون امر خداوند را بجا آورد و چراغها را طوری قرار داد که جلوی چراغدانها را روشن کند.
3Aaron did so. He lit its lamps to light the area in front of the lampstand, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

چراغدانها، از سر تا پایه، از طلا و مطابق همان نقشهای که خداوند به موسی نشان داده بود، ساخته شده بودند.
4This was the workmanship of the lampstand, beaten work of gold. From its base to its flowers, it was beaten work: according to the pattern which Yahweh had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand.

سپس خداوند به موسی فرمود: «لاویان را از سایر قوم اسرائیل جدا کن، و آنها را به این ترتیب تطهیر نما:
5Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

آب طهارت را بر آنها بپاش. بعد به آنها بگو که تمام موهای بدن خود را بتراشند، لباسهای خود را بشویند و غسل کنند.
6“Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.
6
بعد آنها یک گاو جوان را با هدیهٔ آردی، که از آرد مرغوب و با روغن تهیّه شده باشد و یک گاو جوان دیگر، برای قربانی گناه بیاورند.
7You shall do this to them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of cleansing on them, let them shave their whole bodies with a razor, and let them wash their clothes, and cleanse themselves.

آنگاه همهٔ لاویان را به حضور مردم در جلوی خیمهٔ عبادت بیاور، و تمام جماعت قوم اسرائیل را جمع کن.
8Then let them take a young bull, and its meal offering, fine flour mixed with oil; and another young bull you shall take for a sin offering.

مردم اسرائیل بر سر لاویان دست بگذارند.
9You shall present the Levites before the Tent of Meeting. You shall assemble the whole congregation of the children of Israel.

هارون آنها را به عوض تمام قوم اسرائیل به عنوان هدیهٔ مخصوص، وقف خداوند کند و لاویان به جای آنها برای خداوند خدمت نمایند.
10You shall present the Levites before Yahweh. The children of Israel shall lay their hands on the Levites,

سپس لاویان دست خود را بر سر گاوها بگذارند و به حضور خداوند تقدیم کنند تا یکی برای قربانی گناه و دیگری برای سوختنی برای تطهیر لاویان، کفّاره شود.
11and Aaron shall offer the Levites before Yahweh for a wave offering, on the behalf of the children of Israel, that it may be theirs to do the service of Yahweh.

«آنگاه لاویان به عنوان هدیهٔ مخصوص به خداوند تقدیم شوند و هارون و پسرانش وظایف آنها را تعیین کنند.
12“The Levites shall lay their hands on the heads of the bulls, and you shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering to Yahweh, to make atonement for the Levites.

به این ترتیب، لاویان را از سایر قوم جدا کن. آنها به من تعلّق دارند.
13You shall set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them as a wave offering to Yahweh.
13
پس از آن که آنها را تطهیر و وقف من کردی، برای خدمت در خیمهٔ عبادت آماده شوند.
14Thus you shall separate the Levites from among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine.

آنها از بین تمام طایفههای اسرائیل به من تعلّق دارند، و من آنها را به عوض پسران اول قوم اسرائیل برای خود اختیار کردهام.
15“After that, the Levites shall go in to do the service of the Tent of Meeting: and you shall cleanse them, and offer them as a wave offering.

زیرا همهٔ نخستزادگان در قوم اسرائیل، خواه انسان باشند، خواه حیوان، از آن من هستند؛ همان روزی که پسران اول مصریان را کشتم اینها را برای خود برگزیدم.
16For they are wholly given to me from among the children of Israel; instead of all who open the womb, even the firstborn of all the children of Israel, I have taken them to me.

بلی، من لاویان را به عوض تمام پسران قوم اسرائیل برای خود گرفتم.
17For all the firstborn among the children of Israel are mine, both man and animal. On the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified them for myself.

من لاویان را به عنوان یک هدیه به هارون و پسرانش بخشیدهام تا در خیمهٔ عبادت به عوض قوم اسرائیل خدمت کنند و از قوم اسرائیل محافظت نمایند که اگر به مکان مقدّس نزدیک شوند، آسیبی به ایشان نرسد.»
18I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel.

موسی، هارون و همهٔ مردم اسرائیل تمام دستوراتی را که خداوند برای تقدیس لاویان به موسی داده بود، به دقّت انجام دادند.
19I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the Tent of Meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel; that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come near to the sanctuary.”

لاویان خود را تطهیر کردند، لباسهای خود را شستند و هارون آنها را به عنوان هدیهٔ مخصوص به خداوند وقف نمود. او همچنان برای تطهیر ایشان، مراسم کفّاره انجام میداد.
20Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel did so to the Levites. According to all that Yahweh commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so the children of Israel did to them.

بعد از آن لاویان، همانطور که خداوند به موسی امر فرموده بود، به خیمهٔ عبادت رفتند و زیر نظر هارون و پسرانش به انجام وظایف خود پرداختند.
21The Levites purified themselves from sin, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them for a wave offering before Yahweh; and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them.

خداوند به موسی فرمود: «لاویان باید خدمت خود را در خیمهٔ عبادت، از سن بیست و پنج سالگی یا بالاتر آغاز کنند،
22After that, the Levites went in to do their service in the Tent of Meeting before Aaron, and before his sons: as Yahweh had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them.

و در سن پنجاه سالگی بازنشسته شوند.
بعد از آن، میتوانند لاویان دیگر را در انجام خدمتشان کمک کنند، امّا خودشان نباید مستقیماً در امور عبادتگاه دخالت نمایند. به این ترتیب، وظایف لاویان را برای ایشان تعیین کن.»
23Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

بعد از آن، میتوانند لاویان دیگر را در انجام خدمتشان کمک کنند، امّا خودشان نباید مستقیماً در امور عبادتگاه دخالت نمایند. به این ترتیب، وظایف لاویان را برای ایشان تعیین کن.»
24“This is that which belongs to the Levites: from twenty-five years old and upward they shall go in to wait on the service in the work of the Tent of Meeting;
25and from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting on the work, and shall serve no more,
26but shall minister with their brothers in the Tent of Meeting, to perform the duty, and shall do no service. You shall do thus to the Levites concerning their duties.”
