¹Paul and Timothy, servants of Jesus Christ; To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the overseers or, superintendents, or bishops and servants Or, deacons :

¹ از طرف پولس و تیموتاؤس -‌غلامان مسیح عیسی- به همهٔ مقدّسین شهر فیلیپی كه با عیسی مسیح متّحدند و سرپرستان و خادمان آنها.

²Grace to you, and peace from God, our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

² فیض و آرامش خدای پدر و عیسی مسیح خداوند با شما باد.

³I thank my God whenever I remember you,

³ هروقت كه شما را به‌یاد می‌آورم خدا را شكر می‌کنم؛

⁴always in every request of mine on behalf of you all making my requests with joy,

⁴ و در تمام دعاهایم نام شما را با شادمانی ذكر می‌کنم

⁵for your partnership The word translated “partnership” (koinonia) also means “fellowship” and “sharing.” in furtherance of the Good News from the first day until now;

⁵ و به‌خاطر همكاری شما در انتشار انجیل كه از اولین روز شنیدن آن تا به حال ادامه دارد، خدا را سپاس می‌گویم.

⁶being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

⁶ من اطمینان دارم آن خدایی كه در شما كار نیكویی را شروع كرد تا روز مسیح عیسی، آن را به كمال خواهد رسانید.

⁷It is even right for me to think this way on behalf of all of you, because I have you in my heart, because, both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the Good News, you all are partakers with me of grace.

⁷ من حقّ دارم كه دربارهٔ شما چنین احساسی داشته باشم، زیرا همیشه در دل من هستید و من چه در زندان و چه به دفاع و پشتیبانی از انجیل مشغول باشم، شما را در فیض خدا با خود شریک می‌دانم.

⁸For God is my witness, how I long after all of you in the tender mercies of Christ Jesus.

⁸ خدا شاهد است كه تا چه اندازه با احساسات گرمی كه مسیح عیسی در من ایجاد كرده است، مشتاق دیدار شما هستم.

⁹This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment;

⁹ و دعایم این است كه محبّت شما همراه با آگاهی و كمال دانایی همچنان رشد كند

¹⁰so that you may approve the things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ;

¹⁰ تا همه‌چیز را بیازمایید و عالیترین آنها را انتخاب كنید. آن وقت در روز عظیم مسیح بی‌عیب و بی‌تقصیر خواهید بود.

¹¹being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

¹¹ همچنین دعا می‌کنم كه زندگی شما از ثمرات نیكی مطلق كه به وسیلهٔ عیسی مسیح برای جلال و ستایش خدا به دست می‌آید، سرشار گردد.

¹²Now I desire to have you know, brothers, The word for “brothers” here and where context allows may also be correctly translated “brothers and sisters” or “siblings.” that the things which happened to me have turned out rather to the progress of the Good News;

¹² ای دوستان، می‌خواهم بدانید كه آنچه به ‌سر من آمده است در واقع به پیشرفت انجیل كمک كرده است،

¹³so that it became evident to the whole palace or, praetorian guard, and to all the rest, that my bonds are in Christ;

¹³ تا آنجا كه تمام اعضای گارد امپراتوری و سایرین نیز می‌دانند كه من در خدمت مسیح؛ و به‌خاطر او زندانی شده‌ام.

¹⁴and that most of the brothers in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear.

¹⁴ و از طرف دیگر، اغلب ایمانداران مسیحی به سبب زندانی شدن من به قدری قویدل شده‌اند كه جرأت می‌کنند پیام خدا را بدون ترس اعلام كنند.

¹⁵Some indeed preach Christ even out of envy and strife, and some also out of good will.

¹⁵ البتّه بعضی‌ها، از روی حسادت و رقابت، به مسیح بشارت می‌دهند، ولی دیگران این كار را با حُسن نیّت انجام می‌دهند.

¹⁶The former insincerely preach Christ from selfish ambition, thinking that they add affliction to my chains;

¹⁶ اینها از روی محبّت چنین می‌کنند، زیرا می‌دانند كه من به جهت دفاع از انجیل در اینجا افتاده‌ام.

¹⁷but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the Good News.

¹⁷ ولی آنها از روی هم چشمی به مسیح بشارت می‌دهند، نه از روی صمیمیّت، زیرا تصوّر می‌کنند از این راه می‌توانند بار زحمت مرا در زندان سنگین‌تر سازند.

¹⁸What does it matter? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed. I rejoice in this, yes, and will rejoice.

¹⁸ چه اهمیّت دارد؟ از هر راهی باشد، خواه از روی نیّت درست یا نادرست، مسیح به مردم اعلام می‌شود و این امر برای من مایهٔ خوشوقتی است. آری من شادم و همچنان شادی خواهم كرد.

¹⁹For I know that this will turn out to my salvation, through your supplication and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

¹⁹ زیرا می‌دانم كه به وسیلهٔ دعاهای شما و به یاری روح عیسی مسیح، این امر به نجات من تمام خواهد شد.

²⁰according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will in no way be disappointed, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.

²⁰ زیرا انتظار شدید و امید من این است كه هرگز موجبات رسوایی خود را فراهم نسازم، بلكه اکنون با دلیری كامل، مانند همیشه مسیح را در وجود خود جلال دهم، خواه با مرگ من باشد، خواه با زندگی من.

²¹For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

²¹ زیرا مقصود من از زندگی، مسیح است و مردن نیز به سود من تمام می‌شود.

²²But if I live on in the flesh, this will bring fruit from my work; yet I don’t know what I will choose.

²² امّا اگر با زنده ماندن بتوانم كار ارزنده‌ای انجام دهم، من نمی‌دانم كدام را انتخاب كنم.

²³But I am in a dilemma between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.

²³ بین دو راهی گیر کرده‌ام. اشتیاق دارم كه این زندگی را ترک كنم و با مسیح باشم كه خیلی بهتر است،

²⁴Yet, to remain in the flesh is more needful for your sake.

²⁴ امّا به‌خاطر شما زنده ماندن من واجب‌تر است.

²⁵Having this confidence, I know that I will remain, yes, and remain with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith,

²⁵ با چنین اعتمادی یقین دارم كه زنده خواهم ماند و برای پیشرفت و شادمانی شما در ایمان با شما خواهم بود؛

²⁶that your rejoicing may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence with you again.

²⁶ تا بار دیگر با آمدن من موجبات افتخار شما به من در مسیح عیسی بیشتر گردد.

²⁷Only let your way of life be worthy of the Good News of Christ, that, whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your state, that you stand firm in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the Good News;

²⁷ به هر حال، طوری زندگی كنید كه رفتار شما شایستهٔ انجیل مسیح باشد و من چه بیایم و شما را ببینم و چه نیایم، مایلم دربارهٔ شما بشنوم كه در یگانگی روح پابرجا هستید و با هماهنگی پیوسته دست به دست یكدیگر داده، به‌خاطر ایمان انجیل تلاش می‌کنید.

²⁸and in nothing frightened by the adversaries, which is for them a proof of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God.

²⁸ به هیچ وجه از مخالفین نترسید، زیرا این شهامت شما به آنها ثابت می‌کند كه به سوی هلاكت می‌روند و شما نجات خواهید یافت و آن هم از طرف خداست.

²⁹Because it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer on his behalf,

²⁹ چون این امتیاز به شما عطا شده است كه نه تنها به مسیح ایمان آورید، بلكه به‌خاطر او نیز رنج و زحمت ببینید، زیرا شما نیز به همان مبارزه‌ای داخل شده‌اید كه من داشتم و شما ناظر آن بودید و اطّلاع دارید كه هنوز هم گرفتار آن هستم.

³⁰having the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear is in me.

³⁰ زیرا شما نیز به همان مبارزه‌ای داخل شده‌اید كه من داشتم و شما ناظر آن بودید و اطّلاع دارید كه هنوز هم گرفتار آن هستم.
