¹Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

¹ ای فرزندان، وظیفهٔ هر مسیحی این است كه از والدین خود اطاعت كند.

²“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with a promise:

² اولین حكمی كه با وعده همراه بود این است: «پدر و مادر خود را احترام کن.» و وعدهٔ آن این بود:

³“that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.” Deuteronomy 5:16

³ «تا كامیاب گردی و عمرت در زمین طولانی شود.»

⁴You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

⁴ و شما ای پدران، فرزندان خود را خشمگین نسازید بلكه آنان را با آموزش و پرورش مسیحی تربیت كنید.

⁵Servants, be obedient to those who according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ;

⁵ ای غلامان، طوری با احترام و اشتیاق و یكدلی مطیع اربابان انسانی خود باشید كه گویی از مسیح اطاعت می‌کنید.

⁶not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men pleasers; but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

⁶ اطاعت شما فقط به‌خاطر این نباشد كه تحت مراقبت هستید و یا می‌خواهید دیگران را خشنود سازید، بلكه به عنوان غلامان مسیح، ارادهٔ خدا را از دل و جان بجا آورید

⁷with good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men;

⁷ و خدمات خود را با میل و رغبت انجام دهید. مثل کسی‌که خداوند را خدمت می‌کند نه انسان را،

⁸knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive the same again from the Lord, whether he is bound or free.

⁸ زیرا می‌دانید كه خداوند به هرکس خواه غلام، خواه آزاد، موافق كارهای نیكی كه كرده است، پاداش خواهد داد.

⁹You masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him.

⁹ ای اربابان، شما نیز نسبت به غلامان خود همین‌طور رفتار كنید و از تهدید آنان دست بردارید و به‌یاد داشته باشید كه در آسمان غلامان شما و خود شما، یک ارباب دارید و او تبعیضی بین آدمیان قایل نمی‌شود.

¹⁰Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might.

¹⁰ دیگر اینکه در رابطهٔ خود با خداوند از قدرت عظیم او نیرو بگیرید.

¹¹Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

¹¹ زِرِه كاملی را كه خدا برای شما تهیّه كرده است، بپوشید تا بتوانید در مقابل نیرنگهای ابلیس ایستادگی نمایید.

¹²For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

¹² زیرا جنگ ما با انسان نیست بلكه ما علیه فرمانروایان و اولیای امور و نیروهای حاكم بر این جهان تاریک و نیروهای شیطانی در آسمان، در جنگ هستیم.

¹³Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand.

¹³ از این جهت شما باید زره كاملی را كه خدا مهیّا كرده است، بپوشید تا در آن روز شریر در برابر حمله‌های دشمن، تابِ مقاومت داشته باشید و تا پایان جنگ هم پایدار بمانید.

¹⁴Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

¹⁴ پس پایداری كنید و كمربند حقیقت را به كمر ببندید و جوشن نیكی را به تن كنید

¹⁵and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace;

¹⁵ و نعلین آمادگی برای انتشار انجیل صلح و سلامتی را به پا كنید.

¹⁶above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.

¹⁶ علاوه بر اینها، سپر ایمان را بردارید تا به وسیلهٔ آن بتوانید تمام تیرهای آتشین شیطان را فرو نشانید.

¹⁷And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word from Greek rhema, which means spoken word of God;

¹⁷ و كلاهخود نجات را بر سر بگذارید و شمشیر روح‌القدس یعنی كلام‌ خدا را بردارید.

¹⁸with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints:

¹⁸ همهٔ اینها را با دعا و مناجات انجام دهید. همیشه با هدایت روح‌القدس دعا كنید و پیوسته برای این منظور بیدار باشید و با پشتكار برای همهٔ مقدّسین دعا كنید.

¹⁹on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News,

¹⁹ برای من نیز دعا كنید تا وقتی سخن می‌گویم، قدرت بیان به من عطا گردد و بتوانم رازِ انجیل را با شهامت آشکار سازم.

²⁰for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

²⁰ زیرا به‌خاطر همان انجیل است كه من سفیر هستم، هرچند سفیری در زنجیر! دعا كنید كه من آن را، چنانکه باید و شاید، با شهامت بیان كنم.

²¹But that you also may know my affairs, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will make known to you all things;

²¹ «تخیكاس» برادر عزیز ما و خادم وفادار در خدمت خداوند، همه‌چیز را به شما خواهد گفت تا شما هم بدانید كه احوال من چطور است و چه می‌کنم.

²²whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that you may know our state, and that he may comfort your hearts.

²² او را به همین منظور پیش شما فرستادم تا از احوال ما باخبر شوید و دلهای شما را شاد گرداند.

²³Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

²³ خدای پدر و عیسی مسیح خداوند، به همهٔ ایمانداران آرامش و محبّت توأم با ایمان عطا فرماید. فیض خدا با همهٔ آنانی باد كه خداوند ما عیسی مسیح را با محبّتی بی‌پایان دوست دارند، آمین.

²⁴Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love. Amen.
