¹Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children.

¹ چنانکه شایستهٔ فرزندان عزیز خداست، بكوشید كه مانند او باشید.

²Walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.

² از روی محبّت زندگی كنید و از محبّتی كه عیسی مسیح با قربانی خویش در راه ما نشان داد، پیروی كنید. او جان خود را مانند هدیه‌ای خوشبو به خدا تقدیم نمود.

³But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints;

³ و چنانکه شایستهٔ مقدّسین خداست، در میان شما چیزی دربارهٔ زنا و بی‌عفّتی‌های دیگر و طمع‌كاری بر زبان نیاید.

⁴nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate; but rather giving of thanks.

⁴ پسندیده نیست كه سخنان ركیک و یا حرفهای بی‌معنی یا زشت بكار ببرید، بلكه در عوض باید خدا را شكر كنید.

⁵Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God.

⁵ خاطر‌جمع باشید كه تمام اشخاص زناكار و بی‌عفّت یا طمع‌كار (زیرا طمع‌كاری یک نوع بت‌پرستی است.) هرگز در پادشاهی مسیح و خدا سهمی نخواهند داشت.

⁶Let no one deceive you with empty words. For because of these things, the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.

⁶ اجازه ندهید كسی با دلایل پوچ خود شما را فریب دهد؛ زیرا به علّت این چیزهاست كه غضب خدا بر افرادی كه مطیع او نیستند وارد خواهد آمد.

⁷Therefore don’t be partakers with them.

⁷ پس با چنین اشخاص كاری نداشته باشید.

⁸For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,

⁸ شما زمانی در تاریكی بودید امّا اكنون در اتّحاد خود با خداوند، در نور هستید. پس مانند فرزندان نور زندگی كنید.

⁹for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,

⁹ زیرا هر كجا نور باشد، همه‌نوع خوبی، نیكی و حقیقت نیز به وجود می‌آید.

¹⁰proving what is well pleasing to the Lord.

¹⁰ بكوشید تا آنچه خداوند را خشنود می‌سازد، دریابید.

¹¹Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them.

¹¹ در انجام كارهای بیهودهٔ ظلمت شریک نباشید، بلكه ماهیّت آنها را در برابر نور آشکار سازید.

¹²For the things which are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of.

¹² حتّی ذكر كارهایی كه آنها در پنهانی انجام می‌دهند، مایهٔ رسوایی است.

¹³But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that reveals is light.

¹³ امّا هرگاه چیزی در جلوی نور قرار گیرد، کاملاً روشن می‌شود

¹⁴Therefore he says, “Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

¹⁴ و هرچه کاملاً روشن شود مانند نور آشكار است. به آن سبب است كه می‌گویند: «ای كه در خوابی، بیدار شو، از میان مردگان برخیز و مسیح بر تو خواهد تابید.»

¹⁵Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise;

¹⁵ پس شما باید دقّت كنید كه چگونه زندگی می‌کنید، مثل اشخاص عاقل زندگی كنید، نه مانند نادانان.

¹⁶redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

¹⁶ از هر فرصتی كه به دست می‌آورید به بهترین نحو استفاده كنید زیرا این روزگار، روزگار بدی است.

¹⁷Therefore don’t be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

¹⁷ پس نادان نباشید، بلكه بكوشید تا بفهمید كه ارادهٔ خداوند چیست.

¹⁸Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,

¹⁸ مست شراب نشوید، زیرا شراب شما را به سوی كارهای زشت می‌کشاند، بلكه از روح‌القدس پر شوید.

¹⁹speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; singing, and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

¹⁹ با استفاده از زبور، تسبیحات و سرودهای روحانی با یكدیگر گفت‌وگو كنید و با تمام دل برای خداوند بسرایید و بخوانید.

²⁰giving thanks always concerning all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God, even the Father;

²⁰ به نام خداوند ما عیسی مسیح هر روز برای همه‌چیز سپاسگزار خدای پدر باشید.

²¹subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ.

²¹ به‌خاطر احترامی كه به مسیح دارید، مطیع یكدیگر باشید.

²²Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

²² ای زنها، طوری از شوهران خود اطاعت كنید كه از خداوند اطاعت می‌کنید،

²³For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body.

²³ زیرا همان‌طور ‌که مسیح سر كلیسا یعنی بدن خود می‌باشد و شخصاً نجات‌دهندهٔ آن است، شوهر نیز سر زن خود می‌باشد.

²⁴But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything.

²⁴ و چنانکه كلیسا مطیع مسیح است، زنها نیز در هر مورد باید از شوهرهای خود اطاعت كنند.

²⁵Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it;

²⁵ ای شوهرها، چنانکه مسیح كلیسا را دوست داشت و جان خود را برای آن داد، شما نیز زنهای خود را دوست بدارید.

²⁶that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,

²⁶ مسیح چنین كرد تا كلیسا را با آب و كلام‌ خدا شسته و آن را پاک و مقدّس گرداند

²⁷that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

²⁷ و كلیسا را با تمام زیبایی‌اش پاک و بدون عیب و لكّه و چین و چروک یا هر نقص دیگری به خودش تقدیم نماید.

²⁸Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.

²⁸ مردان باید همان‌طور‌که بدن خود را دوست دارند، زنانشان را دوست بدارند زیرا مردی كه زنش را دوست می‌دارد، خود را دوست دارد.

²⁹For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly;

²⁹ هیچ‌کس هرگز از بدن خود متنفّر نبوده است. بلكه به آن غذا می‌دهد و از آن توجّه می‌کند -‌یعنی همان كاری كه مسیح برای كلیسا می‌کند-

³⁰because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones.

³⁰ زیرا ما اعضای بدن او هستیم.

³¹“For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh.” Genesis 2:24

³¹ به این جهت كلام خدا می‌فرماید: «مرد، پدر و مادر خود را ترک می‌کند و به زن خود می‌پیوندد و آن دو، یک تن خواهند شد.»

³²This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and of the assembly.

³² یک حقیقت بزرگ در این امر نهفته است که به نظر من به مسیح و به كلیسای او اشاره می‌کند. به هر حال هر شوهری باید زنش را مانند خودش دوست بدارد و هر زنی نیز باید شوهرش را محترم بشمارد.

³³Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
