¹Then I stood on the sand of the sea. I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads. On his horns were ten crowns, and on his heads, blasphemous names.

¹ آنگاه دیدم كه یک حیوان وحشی از میان دریا بیرون می‌آید كه ده شاخ و هفت سر داشت. بر هر یک از شاخهایش نیم‌تاجی قرار داشت و بر هریک از سرهایش، نامی كفرآمیز نوشته شده بود.

²The beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.

² این حیوان وحشی مثل پلنگی بود كه پاهایش مانند پاهای خرس و دهانش چون دهان شیر بود. اژدها قدرت و تاج و تخت و اختیارات وسیع خود را به او واگذار نمود.

³One of his heads looked like it had been wounded fatally. His fatal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled at the beast.

³ به نظرم آمد كه یكی از سرهای حیوان وحشی كه ضربتی مرگبار دیده بود، از زخم كشنده‌اش التیام یافت. همهٔ دنیا با حیرت به دنبال آن حیوان می‌رفتند.

⁴They worshiped the dragon, because he gave his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

⁴ مردم اژدها را پرستش كردند، زیرا او اختیارات خود را به آن حیوان واگذار كرده بود. آنها حیوان وحشی را نیز پرستش نمودند و می‌گفتند: «كیست همتای این حیوان؟ كیست كه بتواند با او بجنگد؟»

⁵A mouth speaking great things and blasphemy was given to him. Authority to make war for forty-two months was given to him.

⁵ به آن حیوان اجازه داده شد، سخنان گزاف و كفرآمیز بگوید و به مدّت چهل و دو ماه سلطنت نماید.

⁶He opened his mouth for blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his dwelling, those who dwell in heaven.

⁶ او زبان خود را به كفرگویی علیه خدا گشود. به او و مأوای آسمانی او با تمام ساكنان آن ناسزا می‌گفت.

⁷It was given to him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them. Authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation was given to him.

⁷ او همچنین اجازه یافت تا با مقدّسین خدا بجنگد و آنها را شكست دهد و بر همهٔ امّتها و ملل و زبانها و قبایل جهان اقتدار یابد.

⁸All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been killed.

⁸ همهٔ جهانیان او را پرستش خواهند كرد، یعنی کسانی‌که قبل از پیدایش عالم نامشان در دفتر حیات كه متعلّق به برّه مقتول می‌باشد، ثبت نشده است.

⁹If anyone has an ear, let him hear.

⁹ «ای کسانی‌که گوش دارید، بشنوید!

¹⁰If anyone is to go into captivity, he will go into captivity. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, he must be killed. TR reads “If anyone leads into captivity, into captivity he goes. If anyone will kill with the sword, he must be killed with a sword.” instead of “If anyone has captivity, he will go into captivity. If anyone is with the sword, he must be killed.” Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints.

¹⁰ اگر قرار باشد كسی به اسارت برود، به اسارت خواهد رفت و اگر قرار باشد، كسی با شمشیر كشته شود، با شمشیر كشته خواهد شد. بردباری و ایمان مقدّسین به این حقیقت بستگی دارد.»

¹¹I saw another beast coming up out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke like a dragon.

¹¹ آنگاه حیوان وحشی دیگری را دیدم، كه از زمین بیرون آمد. او دارای دو شاخ مانند شاخهای برّه بود، امّا مثل اژدها سخن می‌گفت.

¹²He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. He makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed.

¹² و وقتی در حضور حیوان اول قرار داشت، از قدرت و اختیار او استفاده می‌کرد و همهٔ زمین و ساكنان آن را به پرستش حیوان نخستین، كه زخم كشنده‌اش التیام یافته بود، مجبور می‌ساخت.

¹³He performs great signs, even making fire come down out of the sky to the earth in the sight of people.

¹³ او معجزات بزرگی انجام می‌داد، حتّی در مقابل چشم همه از آسمان آتش بر زمین بارانید

¹⁴He deceives my own NU omits “my own” people who dwell on the earth because of the signs he was granted to do in front of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast who had the sword wound and lived.

¹⁴ و با معجزاتی كه اجازه داشت در حضور حیوان اول انجام دهد، ساكنان زمین را اغفال نمود و به آنها گفت كه پیکره‌ای به افتخار آن حیوان كه با شمشیر زخمی شده و هنوز زنده بود بسازند.

¹⁵It was given to him to give breath to it, to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause as many as wouldn’t worship the image of the beast to be killed.

¹⁵ او اجازه یافت به پیكرهٔ آن حیوان بدمد تا بتواند سخن بگوید و تا آنانی را كه پیكره را پرستش نمی‌کردند، بكشد.

¹⁶He causes all, the small and the great, the rich and the poor, and the free and the slave, to be given marks on their right hands, or on their foreheads;

¹⁶ از آن گذشته همه را از كوچک و بزرگ، توانگر و بینوا، آزاد و برده، مجبور می‌ساخت كه روی دست راست یا پیشانی خود علامت مخصوصی داشته باشند.

¹⁷and that no one would be able to buy or to sell, unless he has that mark, the name of the beast or the number of his name.

¹⁷ و هیچ‌کس اجازهٔ خرید و فروش نداشت، مگر آنكه علامت حیوان را خواه اسم و خواه عدد بر خود داشته باشد. این محتاج حكمت است و هر صاحب خردی می‌تواند عدد نام آن حیوان را كه ششصد و شصت و شش است حساب كند. چون این عدد به نام مردی دلالت دارد.

¹⁸Here is wisdom. He who has understanding, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is six hundred sixty-six.

¹⁸ این محتاج حكمت است و هر صاحب خردی می‌تواند عدد نام آن حیوان را كه ششصد و شصت و شش است حساب كند. چون این عدد به نام مردی دلالت دارد.
