¹Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, set apart for the Good News of God,

¹ از طرف پولس بندهٔ عیسی ‌مسیح و رسولی كه خدا برای بشارت انجیل برگزیده و فراخوانده است.

²which he promised before through his prophets in the holy Scriptures,

² خدا انجیل را مدّتها پیش به وسیلهٔ انبیای خود در کتاب‌مقدّس وعده داد.

³concerning his Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,

³ این انجیل دربارهٔ پسر او، خداوند ما عیسی ‌مسیح است كه از لحاظ انسانیّت یكی از فرزندان داوود بود

⁴who was declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,

⁴ و با زنده شدنش پس از مرگ با قدرتی عظیم ثابت نمود که از لحاظ قدّوسیّت خدایی، او پسر خداست.

⁵through whom we received grace and apostleship, for obedience of faith among all the nations, for his name’s sake;

⁵ خدا به وسیلهٔ مسیح به ما فیض عطا فرمود تا رسولان او باشیم و همهٔ ملّتها را به ایمان و اطاعت مسیح هدایت كنیم.

⁶among whom you are also called to belong to Jesus Christ;

⁶ این همچنین شامل حال شما رومیان است كه خدا شما را دعوت فرموده تا از آن عیسی ‌مسیح شوید.

⁷to all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

⁷ من این نامه را به همهٔ شما محبوبان خدا در روم كه خوانده شده‌‌اید تا مقدّس باشید، می‌نویسم. فیض و آرامش پدر ما خدا و عیسی مسیح خداوند با شما باد.

⁸First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, that your faith is proclaimed throughout the whole world.

⁸ قبل از هر چیز خدای خود را به وساطت عیسی مسیح برای همهٔ شما شكر می‌کنم، زیرا ایمان شما در تمام دنیا شهرت یافته است.

⁹For God is my witness, whom I serve in my spirit in the Good News of his Son, how unceasingly I make mention of you always in my prayers,

⁹ خدا، آن خدایی كه او را با اعلام انجیل دربارهٔ پسرش از دل و جان خدمت می‌نمایم شاهد است

¹⁰requesting, if by any means now at last I may be prospered by the will of God to come to you.

¹⁰ كه همیشه در وقت دعا شما را به‌یاد می‌آورم و درخواست می‌کنم كه در صورت امكان اگر خدا بخواهد بالاخره به دیدن شما موفّق شوم

¹¹For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, to the end that you may be established;

¹¹ زیرا بسیار آرزومندم كه شما را ببینم تا از بركتی روحانی شما را بهره‏مند ساخته، تقویت نمایم.

¹²that is, that I with you may be encouraged in you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine.

¹² مقصودم آن است كه به وسیلهٔ ایمان دو جانبه پشتیبان یکدیگر باشیم، شما به وسیلهٔ ایمان من و من به وسیلهٔ ایمان شما.

¹³Now I don’t desire to have you unaware, brothers, that I often planned to come to you, and was hindered so far, that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among the rest of the Gentiles.

¹³ ای دوستان من، نمی‌‌‌‌‌خواهم بی‌خبر باشید كه بارها قصد داشتم نزد شما بیایم امّا همیشه چیزی مرا از انجام آن بازداشته است. من خواسته‌ام همان طوری که در میان ملّتهای دیگر ثمری یافتم، در میان شما نیز بیابم.

¹⁴I am debtor both to Greeks and to foreigners, both to the wise and to the foolish.

¹⁴ زیرا من در مقابل همه -‌از متمدنین گرفته تا وحشیان، از روشنفكران گرفته تا نادانان- دِینی به گردن دارم.

¹⁵So, as much as is in me, I am eager to preach the Good News to you also who are in Rome.

¹⁵ بنابراین اشتیاق دارم كه به قدر توانایی خود، انجیل را به شما نیز كه در روم به سر می‌برید اعلام نمایم.

¹⁶For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes; for the Jew first, and also for the Greek.

¹⁶ زیرا من از انجیل خِجِل نیستم؛ از آن رو كه انجیل، قدرت خداست برای نجات هرکس كه به آن ایمان آورد، اول یهودیان و سپس غیر یهودیان.

¹⁷For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.” Habakkuk 2:4

¹⁷ زیرا انجیل نشان می‌دهد كه خدا چگونه آدمیان را کاملاً نیک می‌شمارد و این پایهٔ ایمان و بر ایمان بنا شده است، چنانکه کتاب‌مقدّس می‌فرماید: «شخص نیكو به وسیلهٔ ایمان زندگی خواهد کرد.»

¹⁸For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

¹⁸ غضب خدا از آسمان بر هرگونه گناه و شرارت مردمی نازل می‌شود كه زندگی شرارت‌‌آمیزشان مانع شناسایی حقیقت است.

¹⁹because that which is known of God is revealed in them, for God revealed it to them.

¹⁹ خدا آنان را مجازات می‌کند و این كار برحق است، زیرا آنچه آدمیان دربارهٔ خدا می‌توانند بدانند، بر آنها آشكار است زیرا خدا آن را در پیش چشمان آنان قرار داده است.

²⁰For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse.

²⁰ از زمان آفرینش دنیا صفات نادیدنی او یعنی قدرت ازلی و الوهیّت او در چیزهایی كه او آفریده است، به روشنی مشاهده می‌شود و از این ‌رو آنها ابداً عذری ندارند.

²¹Because, knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, neither gave thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened.

²¹ اگرچه آنها خدا را شناختند ولی آن‌طوری‌که شایستهٔ اوست از او تكریم و تشكّر نكردند. در عوض افكارشان کاملاً پوچ گشته و عقل ناقص آنها تیره شده است.

²²Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

²² درحالی‌که ادّعای حكمت می‌کنند نشان می‌دهند كه نادان هستند.

²³and traded the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed animals, and creeping things.

²³ آنها جلال خدای جاودان را به بُتهایی شبیه انسان فانی و پرندگان و چارپایان و خزندگان تبدیل كردند.

²⁴Therefore God also gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves,

²⁴ به این جهت خدا ایشان را با شهوات و هوسهای خودشان در ناپاكی واگذاشت كه با یكدیگر بدنهای خود را ننگین سازند.

²⁵who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

²⁵ آنان حقیقت خدا را به دروغ تبدیل كردند و آفریده‌های خدا را به ‌عوض خود آفریدگار پرستیدند، ‌آفریدگاری ‌كه تا ابد شایستهٔ ستایش است.

²⁶For this reason, God gave them up to vile passions. For their women changed the natural function into that which is against nature.

²⁶ لذا خدا آدمیان را تسلیم شهوات ننگین خودشان كرده است. حتّی زنها روابط طبیعی جنسی را به آنچه غیر طبیعی است تبدیل كردند.

²⁷Likewise also the men, leaving the natural function of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another, men doing what is inappropriate with men, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error.

²⁷ به همان ‌طریق مردان روابط جنسی طبیعی را با زنها ترک نمودند و در آتش ‌شهوت برای هم‌جنسان خود سوختند. مردان مرتكب کارهای ‌زشت و ننگین با مردان دیگر شدند و در وجود خودشان مجازاتی ‌كه درخور چنین خلافكاری است، دیدند.

²⁸Even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;

²⁸ چون آنها خداشناسی را امری ناچیز شمردند، خدا آنها را تسلیم افكار فاسدشان نمود تا کارهای زشت و ناشایست بجا آورند.

²⁹being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, malice; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil habits, secret slanderers,

²⁹ آنها از انواع شرارت و بدی و طمع و بدخواهی و همچنین از حسادت و آدمكشی و نزاع و فریبكاری و سوءنیّت پُر هستند. آنها شایعه می‌سازند

³⁰backbiters, hateful to God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

³⁰ و از یكدیگر بدگویی می‌کنند، از خدا نفرت دارند، گستاخ و متکبّر و لافزن و سازندهٔ بدیها هستند و از والدین خود سرپیچی می‌کنند.

³¹without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, unforgiving, unmerciful;

³¹ بی‌فهم و بی‌وفا و بی‌عاطفه و بی‌رحمند. و با وجود اینكه فرمان خدا را می‌دانند كه مجریان چنین كارها مستوجب مرگند ولی نه فقط خودشان این ‌كارها را می‌کنند بلكه دیگران را نیز در انجام آنها تشویق می‌کنند.

³²who, knowing the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them.

³² و با وجود اینكه فرمان خدا را می‌دانند كه مجریان چنین كارها مستوجب مرگند ولی نه فقط خودشان این ‌كارها را می‌کنند بلكه دیگران را نیز در انجام آنها تشویق می‌کنند.
