¹Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things.

¹ و امّا ‌ای آدمی، تو كیستی كه دربارهٔ دیگران قضاوت می‌کنی؟ هرکه باشی هیچ عذری نداری زیرا وقتی تو دیگران را محكوم می‌کنی و در عین حال همان كاری را كه آنها انجام می‌دهند انجام می‌دهی، خودت را محكوم می‌کنی.

²We know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.

² ما می‌دانیم وقتی خدا اشخاصی را كه چنین کارهایی می‌کنند محكوم می‌کند، حق دارد.

³Do you think this, O man who judges those who practice such things, and do the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?

³ آیا تو گمان می‌کنی كه با محكوم كردن دیگران از كیفر خواهی رست! درحالی‌که همان كارها را انجام می‌دهی؟

⁴Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

⁴ آیا فراوانی مهر و بردباری و صبر خدا را ناچیز می‌شماری؟ مگر نمی‌‌‌‌‌‌دانی كه منظور مهربانی خدا این ‌است كه تو را به توبه راهنمایی فرماید؟

⁵But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God;

⁵ با سخت‌دلی و بی‌میلی خود نسبت به توبه، عقوبت خود را تا روز ظهور غضب خدا و داوری عادلانهٔ او پیوسته شدیدتر می‌سازی.

⁶who “will pay back to everyone according to their works:” Psalm 62:12; Proverbs 24:12

⁶ زیرا خدا به هرکس بر حسب کارهایی كه كرده است، پاداش یا كیفر خواهد داد.

⁷to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory, honor, and incorruptibility, eternal life;

⁷ بعضی افراد، نیكویی را دنبال می‌کنند و در جستجوی عزّت و شرف و حیات فناناپذیر هستند، خدا به آنان حیات ‌جاودانی خواهد داد.

⁸but to those who are self-seeking, and don’t obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, will be wrath and indignation,

⁸ بعضی افراد خودخواه هستند و حقیقت را رد می‌کنند و به دنبال ناراستی می‌روند، آنها مورد خشم و غضب خدا قرار می‌گیرند.

⁹oppression and anguish, on every soul of man who works evil, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

⁹ برای همهٔ آدمیانی كه بدی را بجا می‌آورند، مصیبت و پریشانی خواهد بود، اول برای یهودیان و سپس برای غیر یهودیان.

¹⁰But glory, honor, and peace go to every man who works good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

¹⁰ امّا خدا به کسانی‌که نیكوكاری نمایند، عزّت و شرف و آرامش خواهد بخشید، اول به یهودیان و سپس به غیر یهودیان.

¹¹For there is no partiality with God.

¹¹ زیرا خدا تبعیضی بین این و آن قایل نمی‌شود.

¹²For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without the law. As many as have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.

¹² همهٔ آنانی كه بدون داشتن شریعت موسی گناه می‌کنند، بدون شریعت هلاک می‌شوند و همهٔ آنانی كه تحت شریعت هستند و گناه می‌کنند، به وسیلهٔ شریعت محكوم می‌شوند.

¹³For it isn’t the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law will be justified

¹³ زیرا تنها شنیدن احكام شریعت هیچ‌کس را در حضور خدا کاملاً نیک نمی‌‌سازد، بلكه مجریان شریعتند كه نیک شمرده می‌شوند.

¹⁴(for when Gentiles who don’t have the law do by nature the things of the law, these, not having the law, are a law to themselves,

¹⁴ هرگاه غیر یهودیان كه دارای شریعت موسی نیستند، احكام شریعت را طبیعتاً انجام می‌دهند، معلوم است كه شریعت آنان خودشانند. با وجود اینكه شریعت كتبی ندارند،

¹⁵in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience testifying with them, and their thoughts among themselves accusing or else excusing them)

¹⁵ رفتارشان نشان می‌دهد كه مقرّرات شریعت در قلبهایشان نوشته شده و وجدانهای ایشان نیز درستی این را تأیید می‌کند. زیرا افكارشان یا آنها را متّهم می‌کند و یا از آنها دفاع می‌نماید.

¹⁶in the day when God will judge the secrets of men, according to my Good News, by Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ طبق بشارتی كه من می‌دهم، در روزی كه خدا به وسیلهٔ عیسی مسیح همهٔ افكار پنهانی دلهای آدمیان را داوری می‌کند، این ‌كار انجام خواهد گرفت.

¹⁷Indeed you bear the name of a Jew, and rest on the law, and glory in God,

¹⁷ امّا اگر تو خود را یهودی می‌نامی و به شریعت متّكی هستی و از اینكه خدا را می‌شناسی، به خود می‌بالی،

¹⁸and know his will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,

¹⁸ و ارادهٔ او را می‌‌دانی و به‌سبب اینكه در شریعت تربیت شده‌ای چیزهای عالی را ترجیح می‌دهی

¹⁹and are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,

¹⁹ و خاطر جمع هستی كه راهنمای كوران و نور ساكنان تاریكی

²⁰a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of babies, having in the law the form of knowledge and of the truth.

²⁰ و معلّم نادانان و آموزگار كودكان می‌باشی و صاحب شریعت هستی كه مظهر معرفت و حقیقت است.

²¹You therefore who teach another, don’t you teach yourself? You who preach that a man shouldn’t steal, do you steal?

²¹ پس تو كه دیگران را تعلیم می‌دهی، چرا خود را تعلیم نمی‌دهی؟ تو كه موعظه می‌کنی دزدی نباید كرد، آیا خودت دزدی نمی‌کنی؟ ‌

²²You who say a man shouldn’t commit adultery. Do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?

²² تو كه می‌گویی زنا نكن، آیا خودت زنا نمی‌کنی؟ تو كه از بُتها نفرت داری، آیا پرستشگاهها را غارت نمی‌کنی؟

²³You who glory in the law, through your disobedience of the law do you dishonor God?

²³ تو كه به شریعت فخر می‌کنی، آیا با شكستن شریعت نسبت به خدا بی‌حرمتی نمی‌کنی

²⁴For “the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” Isaiah 52:5; Ezekiel 36:22 just as it is written.

²⁴ چنانکه کتاب‌مقدّس می‌فرماید: «به‌سبب شما یهودیان، مردمان غیر یهود نام خدا را بی‌حرمت می‌سازند.»

²⁵For circumcision indeed profits, if you are a doer of the law, but if you are a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.

²⁵ چنانچه از شریعت اطاعت كنی، ختنهٔ تو ارزش دارد؛ امّا اگر از شریعت سرپیچی نمایی، مثل این است كه اصلاً ختنه نشده‌‌ای.

²⁶If therefore the uncircumcised keep the ordinances of the law, won’t his uncircumcision be accounted as circumcision?

²⁶ اگر یک غیر یهودی كه ختنه نشده است از فرمانهای شریعت اطاعت نماید، آیا خدا او را ختنه‌ شده به حساب نخواهد آورد؟

²⁷Won’t the uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfills the law, judge you, who with the letter and circumcision are a transgressor of the law?

²⁷ و شخصی كه جسماً ختنه نشده است ولی احكام شریعت را انجام می‌دهد، تو را كه با وجود داشتن كتاب و نشانهٔ ختنه، از شریعت تجاوز می‌کنی، محكوم خواهد ساخت.

²⁸For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh;

²⁸ زیرا یهودی حقیقی كسی نیست كه ظاهراً یهودی باشد و ختنهٔ واقعی تنها یک عمل جسمانی نیست؛ بلكه یهود واقعی شخصی است كه از باطن یهودی باشد، یعنی قلبش ختنه شده باشد و این نیز، ‌كار روح خداست، نه كار شریعت مكتوب. ستایش چنین شخص از خداست، نه از انسان.

²⁹but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not from men, but from God.

²⁹ بلكه یهود واقعی شخصی است كه از باطن یهودی باشد، یعنی قلبش ختنه شده باشد و این نیز، ‌كار روح خداست، نه كار شریعت مكتوب. ستایش چنین شخص از خداست، نه از انسان.
