¹Then what advantage does the Jew have? Or what is the profit of circumcision?

¹ پس یهودیان چه مزیّتی بر غیر یهودیان دارند؟ یا ختنه چه ارزشی دارد؟

²Much in every way! Because first of all, they were entrusted with the oracles of God.

² البتّه از هر لحاظ ارزش فراوان دارد، اول آنكه خدا كلام خود را با یهودیان سپرد.

³For what if some were without faith? Will their lack of faith nullify the faithfulness of God?

³ امّا اگر بعضی از آنها امین نبودند آیا بی‌وفایی آنها وفاداری خدا را باطل می‌سازد؟ ‌

⁴May it never be! Yes, let God be found true, but every man a liar. As it is written, “That you might be justified in your words, and might prevail when you come into judgment.” Psalm 51:4

⁴ به هیچ وجه! حتّی اگر همهٔ انسانها دروغگو باشند خدا راستگو است، ‌چنانكه كتاب‌مقدّس می‌فرماید: «‌راستگویی تو باید در سخن گفتن معلوم، و حقانیّت تو در محاكمه ثابت شود.»

⁵But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what will we say? Is God unrighteous who inflicts wrath? I speak like men do.

⁵ امّا اگر شرارت ما نیكی مطلق خدا را بیشتر آشكار می‌سازد چه بگوییم؟ آیا می‌توانیم بگوییم كه هرگاه خدا ما را مجازات می‌کند بی‌انصافی می‌کند؟ (مثل آدمیان سخن می‌گویم)

⁶May it never be! For then how will God judge the world?

⁶ به هیچ وجه! اگر خدا عادل نباشد چطور می‌تواند دنیا را داوری كند؟

⁷For if the truth of God through my lie abounded to his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

⁷ امّا اگر دروغ من در مقابل راستی خدا جلال او را بیشتر آشكار می‌کند، چرا باز هم به عنوان یک گناهكار محكوم می‌شوم؟

⁸Why not (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say), “Let us do evil, that good may come?” Those who say so are justly condemned.

⁸ پس چرا نگوییم: «‌بیایید بدی كنیم تا از آن خوبی به بار آید؟» در واقع عدّه‌ای افترا زنان گزارش داده‌‌اند كه ما چنین چیزی گفته‌ایم، محکومیّت این اشخاص بجاست.

⁹What then? Are we better than they? No, in no way. For we previously warned both Jews and Greeks, that they are all under sin.

⁹ پس چه؟ آیا ما یهودیان از غیر یهودیان وضع بهتری داریم؟ ابداً، پیش از این نشان دادیم كه یهودیان و غیر یهودیان، همه اسیر گناه هستند.

¹⁰As it is written, “There is no one righteous; no, not one.

¹⁰ چنانکه كتاب ‌مقدّس می‌فرماید: «حتّی یک نفر نیست كه کاملاً نیک باشد.

¹¹There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks after God.

¹¹ كسی نیست كه بفهمد یا جویای خدا باشد.

¹²They have all turned aside. They have together become unprofitable. There is no one who does good, no, not, so much as one.” Psalms 14:1-3; 53:1-3; Ecclesiastes 7:20

¹² همهٔ آدمیان از خدا روگردانیده‌اند، همگی از راه راست منحرف شده‌اند؛ حتّی یک نفر نیكوكار نیست.

¹³“Their throat is an open tomb. With their tongues they have used deceit.” Psalm 5:9 “The poison of vipers is under their lips”; Psalm 140:3

¹³ گلویشان مثل قبر روباز است، زبانشان را برای فریب دادن بكار می‌‌برند و از لبهایشان سخنانی کُشنده مانند زهرمار جاری است.

¹⁴“whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.” Psalm 10:7

¹⁴ دهانشان پر از دشنامهای زننده است،

¹⁵ و پاهایشان برای خونریزی شتابان است.

¹⁶ به هر جا كه می‌روند، ویرانی و بدبختی بجا می‌گذارند،

¹⁷The way of peace, they haven’t known.” Isaiah 59:7-8

¹⁷ و راه صلح و سلامتی را نشناخته‌اند.

¹⁸“There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Psalm 36:1

¹⁸ خداترسی به نظر ایشان نمی‌رسد.»

¹⁹Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God.

¹⁹ ما می‌دانیم كه روی سخن در شریعت با پیروان شریعت است تا هر دهانی بسته شود و تمام دنیا خود را نسبت به خدا مُلزَم و مسئول بدانند.

²⁰Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

²⁰ زیرا هیچ انسانی در نظر خدا با انجام احكام شریعت نیک شمرده نمی‌شود. كار شریعت این است كه انسان گناه را بشناسد.

²¹But now apart from the law, a righteousness of God has been revealed, being testified by the law and the prophets;

²¹ امّا اكنون نیكی مطلق خدا كه تورات و انبیا بر آن شهادت داده‌اند آشکار شده است. خدا بدون در نظر گرفتن شریعت

²²even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all those who believe. For there is no distinction,

²² و فقط از راه ایمان به عیسی مسیح همهٔ ایمانداران را نیک می‌شمارد، زیرا هیچ تفاوتی نیست، ‌

²³for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;

²³ همه گناه کرده‌اند و از جلال خدا محرومند.

²⁴being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus;

²⁴ امّا با فیض خدا، همه به وساطت عیسی مسیح كه آنان را آزاد می‌سازد، ‌به طور رایگان، نیک محسوب می‌شوند.

²⁵whom God set forth to be an atoning sacrifice or, a propitiation , through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness through the passing over of prior sins, in God’s forbearance;

²⁵ زیرا خدا مسیح را به عنوان وسیله‌‌ای برای آمرزش گناهان -‌كه با ایمان به خون او به دست می‌آید- ‌ در مقابل چشم همه قرار داده و با این كار خدا عدالت خود را ثابت نمود زیرا در گذشته به‌سبب بردباری خود، گناهان آدمیان را نادیده گرفت

²⁶to demonstrate his righteousness at this present time; that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him who has faith in Jesus.

²⁶ تا در این زمان، عدالت خدا کاملاً به ثبوت برسد، یعنی ثابت شود كه خدا عادل است و كسی را كه به عیسی ایمان می‌آورد، نیک می‌شمارد.

²⁷Where then is the boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith.

²⁷ پس جای بالیدن کجاست؟ جایی برای آن نیست. ‌به چه دلیل؟ آیا به‌ دلیل انجام دادن شریعت؟ خیر، بلكه چون ایمان می‌آوریم.

²⁸We maintain therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

²⁸ زیرا ما به یقین می‌دانیم كه به وسیلهٔ ایمان، بدون اجرای شریعت می‌توانیم کاملاً نیک محسوب شویم.

²⁹Or is God the God of Jews only? Isn’t he the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also,

²⁹ آیا خدا فقط خدای یهودیان است؟ مگر خدای غیر یهودیان هم نیست؟ البتّه هست.

³⁰since indeed there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith, and the uncircumcised through faith.

³⁰ خدا یكی است و یهودیان را بر اساس ایمان و غیر یهودیان را نیز از راه ایمان کاملاً نیک می‌سازد. آیا این به آن معنی است كه با ایمان، شریعت را از میان برمی‌داریم؟ خیر، هرگز! بلكه آن را استوار می‌سازیم.

³¹Do we then nullify the law through faith? May it never be! No, we establish the law.

³¹ آیا این به آن معنی است كه با ایمان، شریعت را از میان برمی‌داریم؟ خیر، هرگز! بلكه آن را استوار می‌سازیم.
