¹Now Boaz went up to the gate, and sat down there. Behold, the near kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by; to whom he said, “Come over here, friend, and sit down!” He turned aside, and sat down.

¹ بوعز به دروازهٔ شهر، جایی که مردم اجتماع می‌کردند، رفت. وقتی نزدیکترین خویشاوند الیملک، یعنی همان شخصی که بوعز از او نام برده بود، از آنجا می‌گذشت، بوعز او را صدا زد و گفت: «دوست عزیز، بیا اینجا بنشین.» پس او آمده در آنجا نشست.

²He took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, “Sit down here.” They sat down.

² سپس بوعز از ده نفر از رهبران شهر نیز خواست تا آمده، آنجا بنشینند. وقتی آنها نشستند

³He said to the near kinsman, “Naomi, who has come back out of the country of Moab, is selling the parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech’s.

³ بوعز به خویشاوند خود گفت: «حالا که نعومی از موآب برگشته است، می‌خواهد مزرعه‌ای را که متعلّق به خاندان الیملک می‌باشد، بفروشد.

⁴I thought to disclose it to you, saying, ‘Buy it before those who sit here, and before the elders of my people.’ If you will redeem it, redeem it; but if you will not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know. For there is no one to redeem it besides you; and I am after you.” He said, “I will redeem it.”

⁴ من فکر می‌کنم تو باید از این موضوع باخبر باشی. اگر تو آن زمین را می‌خواهی، اکنون در حضور افرادی که در اینجا نشسته‌اند، آن را بخر. امّا اگر تو آن را نمی‌خواهی بگو، چون حق خرید آن مزرعه اول با توست، بعد از تو من می‌توانم آن را بخرم.» آن شخص گفت: «من آن را می‌خرم.»

⁵Then Boaz said, “On the day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you must buy it also from Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance.”

⁵ بوعز گفت: «خوب، اگر تو مزرعه را از نعومی می‌خری، سرپرستی روت، بیوهٔ موآبی نیز با تو خواهد بود تا آن مزرعه برای خانوادهٔ متوّفی باقی بماند.»

⁶The near kinsman said, “I can’t redeem it for myself, lest I mar my own inheritance. Take my right of redemption for yourself; for I can’t redeem it.”

⁶ آن مرد در جواب گفت: «در آن صورت من از حق خود، در خرید مزرعه صرف‌نظر می‌کنم، چون فرزندان من آن را به ارث نخواهند برد. من ترجیح می‌دهم از خرید آن خودداری کنم. تو آن را بخر.»

⁷Now this was the custom in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning exchanging, to confirm all things: a man took off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbor; and this was the way of attestation in Israel.

⁷ در آن روزگار برای انجام یک معامله یا انتقال یک ملک، رسم بود که فروشنده کفش خود را از پایش در آورد و آن را به خریدار بدهد. به این ترتیب اسرائیلی‌ها نشان می‌دادند كه معامله انجام شده است.

⁸So the near kinsman said to Boaz, “Buy it for yourself.” He took off his shoe.

⁸ وقتی آن مرد به بوعز گفت: «تو آن را بخر.» کفش خود را نیز از پایش در آورد و آن را به بوعز داد.

⁹Boaz said to the elders, and to all the people, “You are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech’s, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, from the hand of Naomi.

⁹ آنگاه بوعز به رهبران و تمام مردمی که در آنجا گرد آمده بودند، گفت: «همهٔ شما امروز شاهد هستید که من تمام مایملک الیملک و پسرانش کلیون و محلون را از نعومی خریده‌ام.

¹⁰Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, I have purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance, that the name of the dead not be cut off from among his brothers, and from the gate of his place. You are witnesses this day.”

¹⁰ ‌علاوه‌ بر این روت موآبی، بیوهٔ محلون نیز همسر من خواهد شد. به این ترتیب دارایی شخص مرحوم در خانوادهٔ او حفظ می‌شود و شجرهٔ او در بین قوم و شهر او ادامه خواهد یافت. امروز همهٔ شما شاهد این امر هستید.»

¹¹All the people who were in the gate, and the elders, said, “We are witnesses. May Yahweh make the woman who has come into your house like Rachel and like Leah, which two built the house of Israel; and treat you worthily in Ephrathah, and be famous in Bethlehem.

¹¹ رهبران قوم و سایر حاضران گفتند: «بله، ما شاهدیم. باشد که خداوند همسرت را مانند راحیل و لیه که برای یعقوب فرزندان بسیاری آوردند، بگرداند. باشد که تو در میان خاندان افراته ثروتمند و در شهر بیت‌لحم معروف شوی.

¹²Let your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, of the seed which Yahweh shall give you of this young woman.”

¹² باشد فرزندانی که خداوند از این زن جوان به تو عطا خواهد فرمود، خانوادهٔ تو را مانند خاندان فارص، فرزند یهودا و تامار بگردانند.»

¹³So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife; and he went in to her, and Yahweh gave her conception, and she bore a son.

¹³ پس از آن، بوعز روت را به عنوان همسر خود به منزل برد. خداوند روت را برکت داد و او حامله گردید و پسری به دنیا آورد.

¹⁴The women said to Naomi, “Blessed be Yahweh, who has not left you this day without a near kinsman; and let his name be famous in Israel.

¹⁴ زنان شهر به نعومی ‌گفتند: «خدا را سپاس باد! او امروز به تو نوه‌ای عطا فرموده که حامی تو باشد. خدا او را در بین تمام قوم اسرائیل بزرگ و مشهور بگرداند.

¹⁵He shall be to you a restorer of life, and sustain you in your old age, for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has borne him.”

¹⁵ عروست تو را دوست دارد و برایت از هفت پسر بهتر است. اکنون برای تو نوه‌ای به دنیا آورده که زندگی تازه‌ای به تو خواهد بخشید و در پیری محافظ تو خواهد بود.»

¹⁶Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse to it.

¹⁶ نعومی آن طفل را در آغوش گرفت و از او مراقبت نمود.

¹⁷The women, her neighbors, gave him a name, saying, “There is a son born to Naomi”; and they named him Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

¹⁷ زنانی که در همسایگی آنها زندگی می‌کردند طفل را عوبید نامیدند. آنها به تمام مردم می‌گفتند: «پسری برای نعومی زاییده شده است.» عوبید پدر یَسی، و یَسی پدر داوود بود. شجره‌نامهٔ خاندان فارص تا داوود به این شرح است: فارص، حصرون، رام، عمیناداب، نحشون، سلمون، بوعز، عوبید، یَسی و داوود.

¹⁸Now this is the history of the generations of Perez: Perez became the father of Hezron,

¹⁸ عوبید پدر یَسی، و یَسی پدر داوود بود. شجره‌نامهٔ خاندان فارص تا داوود به این شرح است: فارص، حصرون، رام، عمیناداب، نحشون، سلمون، بوعز، عوبید، یَسی و داوود.

¹⁹and Hezron became the father of Ram, and Ram became the father of Amminadab,

²⁰and Amminadab became the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon became the father of Salmon,

²¹and Salmon became the father of Boaz, and Boaz became the father of Obed,

²²and Obed became the father of Jesse, and Jesse became the father of David.
