¹Elihu also continued, and said,

¹Prosseguiu ainda Eliú e disse:

²“Bear with me a little, and I will show you; for I still have something to say on God’s behalf.

²Espera-me um pouco, e mostrar-te-ei que ainda há razões a favor de Deus.

³I will get my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

³De longe trarei o meu conhecimento, e ao meu criador atribuirei a justiça.

⁴For truly my words are not false. One who is perfect in knowledge is with you.

⁴Pois, na verdade, as minhas palavras não serão falsas; contigo está um que tem perfeito conhecimento.

⁵“Behold, God is mighty, and doesn’t despise anyone. He is mighty in strength of understanding.

⁵Eis que Deus é mui poderoso, contudo a ninguém despre grande é no poder de entendimento.

⁶He doesn’t preserve the life of the wicked, but gives to the afflicted their right.

⁶Ele não preserva a vida do ímpio, mas faz justiça aos aflitos.

⁷He doesn’t withdraw his eyes from the righteous, but with kings on the throne, he sets them forever, and they are exalted.

⁷Do justo não aparta os seus olhos; antes com os reis no trono os faz sentar para sempre, e assim são exaltados.

⁸If they are bound in fetters, and are taken in the cords of afflictions,

⁸E se estão presos em grilhões, e amarrados com cordas de aflição,

⁹then he shows them their work, and their transgressions, that they have behaved themselves proudly.

⁹então lhes faz saber a obra deles, e as suas transgressões, porquanto se têm portado com soberba.

¹⁰He also opens their ears to instruction, and commands that they return from iniquity.

¹⁰E abre-lhes o ouvido para a instrução, e ordena que se convertam da iniqüidade.

¹¹If they listen and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

¹¹Se o ouvirem, e o servirem, acabarão seus dias em prosperidade, e os seus anos em delícias.

¹²But if they don’t listen, they shall perish by the sword; they shall die without knowledge.

¹²Mas se não o ouvirem, � espada serão passados, e expirarão sem conhecimento.

¹³“But those who are godless in heart lay up anger. They don’t cry for help when he binds them.

¹³Assim os ímpios de coração amontoam, a sua ira; e quando Deus os põe em grilhões, não clamam por socorro.

¹⁴They die in youth. Their life perishes among the unclean.

¹⁴Eles morrem na mocidade, e a sua vida perece entre as prostitutas.

¹⁵He delivers the afflicted by their affliction, and opens their ear in oppression.

¹⁵Ao aflito livra por meio da sua aflição, e por meio da opressão lhe abre os ouvidos.

¹⁶Yes, he would have allured you out of distress, into a broad place, where there is no restriction. That which is set on your table would be full of fatness.

¹⁶Assim também quer induzir-te da angústia para um lugar espaçoso, em que não há aperto; e as iguarias da tua mesa serão cheias de gordura.

¹⁷“But you are full of the judgment of the wicked. Judgment and justice take hold of you.

¹⁷Mas tu estás cheio do juízo do ímpio; o juízo e a justiça tomam conta de ti.

¹⁸Don’t let riches entice you to wrath, neither let the great size of a bribe turn you aside.

¹⁸Cuida, pois, para que a ira não te induza a escarnecer, nem te desvie a grandeza do resgate.

¹⁹Would your wealth sustain you in distress, or all the might of your strength?

¹⁹Prevalecerá o teu clamor, ou todas as forças da tua fortaleza, para que não estejas em aperto?

²⁰Don’t desire the night, when people are cut off in their place.

²⁰Não suspires pela noite, em que os povos sejam tomados do seu lugar.

²¹Take heed, don’t regard iniquity; for you have chosen this rather than affliction.

²¹Guarda-te, e não declines para a iniqüidade; porquanto isso escolheste antes que a aflição.

²²Behold, God is exalted in his power. Who is a teacher like him?

²²Eis que Deus é excelso em seu poder; quem é ensinador como ele?

²³Who has prescribed his way for him? Or who can say, ‘You have committed unrighteousness?’

²³Quem lhe prescreveu o seu caminho? Ou quem poderá dizer: Tu praticaste a injustiça?

²⁴“Remember that you magnify his work, whereof men have sung.

²⁴Lembra-te de engrandecer a sua obra, de que têm cantado os homens.

²⁵All men have looked thereon. Man sees it afar off.

²⁵Todos os homens a vêem; de longe a contempla o homem.

²⁶Behold, God is great, and we don’t know him. The number of his years is unsearchable.

²⁶Eis que Deus é grande, e nós não o conhecemos, e o número dos seus anos não se pode esquadrinhar.

²⁷For he draws up the drops of water, which distill in rain from his vapor,

²⁷Pois atrai a si as gotas de água, e do seu vapor as destila em chuva,

²⁸Which the skies pour down and which drop on man abundantly.

²⁸que as nuvens derramam e gotejam abundantemente sobre o homem.

²⁹Yes, can any understand the spreading of the clouds, and the thunderings of his pavilion?

²⁹Poderá alguém entender as dilatações das nuvens, e os trovões do seu pavilhão?

³⁰Behold, he spreads his light around him. He covers the bottom of the sea.

³⁰Eis que ao redor de si estende a sua luz, e cobre o fundo do mar.

³¹For by these he judges the people. He gives food in abundance.

³¹Pois por estas coisas julga os povos e lhes dá mantimento em abundância.

³²He covers his hands with the lightning, and commands it to strike the mark.

³²Cobre as mãos com o relâmpago, e dá-lhe ordem para que fira o alvo.

³³Its noise tells about him, and the livestock also concerning the storm that comes up.

³³O fragor da tempestade dá notícia dele; até o gado pressente a sua aproximação.
