¹Why do you stand far off, Yahweh? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?

¹Por que te conservas ao longe, Senhor? Por que te escondes em tempos de angústia?

²In arrogance, the wicked hunt down the weak. They are caught in the schemes that they devise.

²Os ímpios, na sua arrogância, perseguem furiosamente o pobre; sejam eles apanhados nas ciladas que maquinaram.

³For the wicked boasts of his heart’s cravings. He blesses the greedy, and condemns Yahweh.

³Pois o ímpio gloria-se do desejo do seu coração, e o que é dado � rapina despreza e maldiz o Senhor.

⁴The wicked, in the pride of his face, has no room in his thoughts for God.

⁴Por causa do seu orgulho, o ímpio não o busca; todos os seus pensamentos são: Não há Deus.

⁵His ways are prosperous at all times. He is haughty, and your laws are far from his sight. As for all his adversaries, he sneers at them.

⁵Os seus caminhos são sempre prósperos; os teus juízos estão acima dele, fora da sua vista; quanto a todos os seus adversários, ele os trata com desprezo.

⁶He says in his heart, “I shall not be shaken. For generations I shall have no trouble.”

⁶Diz em seu coração: Não serei abalado; nunca me verei na adversidade.

⁷His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and oppression. Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.

⁷A sua boca está cheia de imprecações, de enganos e de opressão; debaixo da sua língua há malícia e iniqüidade.

⁸He lies in wait near the villages. From ambushes, he murders the innocent. His eyes are secretly set against the helpless.

⁸Põe-se de emboscada nas aldeias; nos lugares ocultos mata o inocente; os seus olhos estão de espreita ao desamparado.

⁹He lurks in secret as a lion in his ambush. He lies in wait to catch the helpless. He catches the helpless, when he draws him in his net.

⁹Qual leão no seu covil, está ele de emboscada num lugar oculto; está de emboscada para apanhar o pobre; apanha-o, colhendo-o na sua rede.

¹⁰The helpless are crushed. They collapse. They fall under his strength.

¹⁰Abaixa-se, curva-se; assim os desamparados lhe caem nas fortes garras.

¹¹He says in his heart, “God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it.”

¹¹Diz ele em seu coração: Deus se esqueceu; cobriu o seu rosto; nunca verá isto.

¹²Arise, Yahweh! God, lift up your hand! Don’t forget the helpless.

¹²Levanta-te, Senhor; ó Deus, levanta a tua mão; não te esqueças dos necessitados.

¹³Why does the wicked person condemn God, and say in his heart, “God won’t call me into account?”

¹³Por que blasfema de Deus o ímpio, dizendo no seu coração: Tu não inquirirás?

¹⁴But you do see trouble and grief. You consider it to take it into your hand. You help the victim and the fatherless.

¹⁴Tu o viste, porque atentas para o trabalho e enfado, para o tomares na tua mão; a ti o desamparado se entrega; tu és o amparo do órfão.

¹⁵Break the arm of the wicked. As for the evil man, seek out his wickedness until you find none.

¹⁵Quebra tu o braço do ímpio e malvado; esquadrinha a sua maldade, até que a descubras de todo.

¹⁶Yahweh is King forever and ever! The nations will perish out of his land.

¹⁶O Senhor é Rei sempre e eternamente; da sua terra perecerão as nações.

¹⁷Yahweh, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear,

¹⁷Tu, Senhor, ouvirás os desejos dos mansos; confortarás o seu coração; inclinarás o teu ouvido,

¹⁸to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that man who is of the earth may terrify no more.

¹⁸para fazeres justiça ao órfão e ao oprimido, a fim de que o homem, que é da terra, não mais inspire terror.
