¹Yahweh, you God to whom vengeance belongs, you God to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth.

¹Ó Senhor, Deus da vingança, ó Deus da vingança, resplandece!

²Rise up, you judge of the earth. Pay back the proud what they deserve.

²Exalta-te, ó juiz da terra! dá aos soberbos o que merecem.

³Yahweh, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked triumph?

³Até quando os ímpios, Senhor, até quando os ímpios exultarão?

⁴They pour out arrogant words. All the evildoers boast.

⁴Até quando falarão, dizendo coisas arrogantes, e se gloriarão todos os que praticam a iniqüidade?

⁵They break your people in pieces, Yahweh, and afflict your heritage.

⁵Esmagam o teu povo, ó Senhor, e afligem a tua herança.

⁶They kill the widow and the alien, and murder the fatherless.

⁶Matam a viúva e o estrangeiro, e tiram a vida ao órfão.

⁷They say, “Yah will not see, neither will Jacob’s God consider.”

⁷E dizem: O Senhor não vê; o Deus de Jacó não o percebe.

⁸Consider, you senseless among the people; you fools, when will you be wise?

⁸Atendei, ó néscios, dentre o povo; e vós, insensatos, quando haveis de ser sábios?

⁹He who implanted the ear, won’t he hear? He who formed the eye, won’t he see?

⁹Aquele que fez ouvido, não ouvirá? ou aquele que formou o olho, não verá?

¹⁰He who disciplines the nations, won’t he punish? He who teaches man knows.

¹⁰Porventura aquele que disciplina as nações, não corrigirá? Aquele que instrui o homem no conhecimento,

¹¹Yahweh knows the thoughts of man, that they are futile.

¹¹o Senhor, conhece os pensamentos do homem, que são vaidade.

¹²Blessed is the man whom you discipline, Yah, and teach out of your law;

¹²Bem-aventurado é o homem a quem tu repreendes, ó Senhor, e a quem ensinas a tua lei,

¹³that you may give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit is dug for the wicked.

¹³para lhe dares descanso dos dias da adversidade, até que se abra uma cova para o ímpio.

¹⁴For Yahweh won’t reject his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.

¹⁴Pois o Senhor não rejeitará o seu povo, nem desamparará a sua herança.

¹⁵For judgment will return to righteousness. All the upright in heart shall follow it.

¹⁵Mas o juízo voltará a ser feito com justiça, e hão de segui-lo todos os retos de coração.

¹⁶Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against the evildoers?

¹⁶Quem se levantará por mim contra os malfeitores? quem se porá ao meu lado contra os que praticam a iniqüidade?

¹⁷Unless Yahweh had been my help, my soul would have soon lived in silence.

¹⁷Se o Senhor não tivesse sido o meu auxílio, já a minha alma estaria habitando no lugar do silêncio.

¹⁸When I said, “My foot is slipping!” Your loving kindness, Yahweh, held me up.

¹⁸Quando eu disse: O meu pé resvala; a tua benignidade, Senhor, me susteve.

¹⁹In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul.

¹⁹Quando os cuidados do meu coração se multiplicam, as tuas consolações recreiam a minha alma.

²⁰Shall the throne of wickedness have fellowship with you, which brings about mischief by statute?

²⁰Pode acaso associar-se contigo o trono de iniqüidade, que forja o mal tendo a lei por pretexto?

²¹They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

²¹Acorrem em tropel contra a vida do justo, e condenam o sangue inocente.

²²But Yahweh has been my high tower, my God, the rock of my refuge.

²²Mas o Senhor tem sido o meu alto retiro, e o meu Deus a rocha do meu alto retiro, e o meu Deus a rocha do meu refúgio.

²³He has brought on them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own wickedness. Yahweh, our God, will cut them off.

²³Ele fará recair sobre eles a sua própria iniqüidade, e os destruirá na sua própria malícia; o Senhor nosso Deus os destruirá.
