¹When I came to you, brothers, I didn’t come with excellence of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.

¹A ja, keď som k vám prišiel, bratia, neprišiel som vo vznešenosti slova alebo múdrosti zvestujúc vám svedoctvo Božie.

²For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

²Lebo som nebol usúdil vedieť niečo iné medzi vami krome Ježiša Krista, a toho ukrižovaného.

³I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.

³A ja som bol u vás v slabosti a v bázni a triasol som sa mnoho.

⁴My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

⁴A moja reč a moja kázeň nezáležala v presviedčavých ľudskej múdrosti slovách, ale v dôkaze Ducha a moci,

⁵that your faith wouldn’t stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

⁵aby vaša viera nebola v ľudskej múdrosti, ale v moci Božej.

⁶We speak wisdom, however, among those who are full grown; yet a wisdom not of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, who are coming to nothing.

⁶A múdrosť hovoríme medzi dokonalými, ale nie múdrosť tohoto sveta ani kniežat tohoto sveta, ktoré hynú;

⁷But we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the wisdom that has been hidden, which God foreordained before the worlds for our glory,

⁷ale hovoríme múdrosť Božiu v tajomstve, skrytú, ktorú predurčil Bôh pred veky na našu slávu,

⁸which none of the rulers of this world has known. For had they known it, they wouldn’t have crucified the Lord of glory.

⁸ktorej neznal nikto z kniežat tohoto sveta, lebo keby boli poznali, neboli by Pána slávy ukrižovali.

⁹But as it is written, “Things which an eye didn’t see, and an ear didn’t hear, which didn’t enter into the heart of man, these God has prepared for those who love him.” Isaiah 64:4

⁹Ale jako je napísané: Čoho oko nevidelo a ucho nepočulo a čo na srdce človeka nevstúpilo, čo všetko Bôh prihotovil tým, ktorí ho milujú.

¹⁰But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

¹⁰Ale nám Bôh zjavil skrze svojho Ducha. Lebo Duch zpytuje všetko, aj hlbiny Božie.

¹¹For who among men knows the things of a man, except the spirit of the man, which is in him? Even so, no one knows the things of God, except God’s Spirit.

¹¹Lebo kto z ľudí vie, čo je v človekovi krome ducha človeka, ktorý je v ňom? Tak ani vecí Božích nepoznal a nezná nikto, iba Duch Boží.

¹²But we received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might know the things that were freely given to us by God.

¹²A my sme nedostali ducha sveta, ale Ducha, ktorý je z Boha, aby sme vedeli, čo všetko nám je z milosti darované od Boha,

¹³Which things also we speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual things.

¹³čo aj hovoríme, no, nie učenými ľudskej múdrosti slovami, ale učenými od Svätého Ducha, s duchovnými vecmi duchovné porovnávajúc.

¹⁴Now the natural man doesn’t receive the things of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to him, and he can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

¹⁴Ale telesný človek nechápe vecí Ducha Božieho, lebo sú mu bláznovstvom, a nemôže ich poznať, lebo sa majú duchovne posudzovať.

¹⁵But he who is spiritual discerns all things, and he himself is judged by no one.

¹⁵Ale duchovný človek posudzuje všetko a sám nie je posudzovaný od nikoho.

¹⁶“For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct him?” Isaiah 40:13 But we have Christ’s mind.

¹⁶Lebo kde kto poznal myseľ Pánovu, ktorý by ho učil? No, my máme myseľ Kristovu.
