¹The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who lived in the land of Egypt, who lived at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Memphis, and in the country of Pathros, saying,

¹Slovo, ktoré sa stalo k Jeremiášovi o všetkých Židoch, ktorí bývali v Egyptskej zemi, ktorí bývali v Migdole a Tachpanchese, v Nofe a v zemi Patrose, povediac:

²Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: You have seen all the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, and on all the cities of Judah; and behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwells therein,

²Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov, Bôh Izraelov: Vy ste videli všetko to zlé, ktoré som uviedol na Jeruzalem i na všetky mestá Júdove, a hľa, dneska sú púšťou, a niet v nich obyvateľa

³because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, to serve other gods, that they didn’t know, neither they, nor you, nor your fathers.

³pre ich nešľachetnosť, ktorú páchali, aby ma popudzovali k hnevu chodiac kadiť a slúžiť iným bohom, ktorých neznali ani oni ani vy ani vaši otcovia.

⁴However I sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Oh, don’t do this abominable thing that I hate.

⁴A posielal som k vám všetkých svojich služobníkov prorokov vstávajúc skoro za rána a posielajúc znova a znova a hovoril som: Nože nerobte tej ohavnej veci, ktorú nenávidím!

⁵But they didn’t listen, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense to other gods.

⁵Ale neposlúchli ani nenaklonili svojho ucha, aby sa boli navrátili od svojej nešľachetnosti a aby nekadili iným bohom.

⁶Therefore my wrath and my anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as it is this day.

⁶Preto sa vyliala moja prchlivosť a môj hnev a horel po mestách Júdových a po uliciach Jeruzalema, a tak sú obrátené na púšť a na pustinu, jako to vidieť dnešného dňa.

⁷Therefore now thus says Yahweh, the God of Armies, the God of Israel: Why do you commit great evil against your own souls, to cut off from yourselves man and woman, infant and nursing child out of the midst of Judah, to leave yourselves none remaining;

⁷A tak teraz takto hovorí Hospodin, Bôh Zástupov, Bôh Izraelov: Prečo vy robíte veľké zlo proti svojim dušiam, aby ste si vyťali muža i ženu, dieťa i kojenca zprostred Júdu, aby ste si neponechali zbytku

⁸in that you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, where you have gone to live; that you may be cut off, and that you may be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

⁸popudzujúc ma k hnevu dielami svojich rúk kadiac iným bohom v Egyptskej zemi, do ktorej ste vošli, aby ste tam pohostínili, aby ste si vyťali a aby ste boli na zlorečenstvo a na potupu medzi všetkými národami zeme?

⁹Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives which they committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?

⁹Či ste zabudli na nešľachetnosti svojich otcov a na nešľachetnosti kráľov Júdových a na nešľachetnosti jeho žien a na svoje nešľachetnosti a na nešľachetnosti svojich žien, ktoré páchali v zemi Júdovej a po uliciach Jeruzalema?

¹⁰They are not humbled even to this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.

¹¹Therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, even to cut off all Judah.

¹¹Preto takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov, Bôh Izraelov: Hľa, obraciam svoju tvár proti vám na zlé, a síce na to, aby som vyťal všetkého Júdu.

¹²I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to live there, and they shall all be consumed; in the land of Egypt shall they fall; they shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine; they shall die, from the least even to the greatest, by the sword and by the famine; and they shall be an object of horror, an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.

¹²A vezmem zbytok Júdov, tých, ktorí obrátili svoju tvár, aby vošli do Egyptskej zeme, aby tam pohostínili, a pohynú všetci, padnú v Egyptskej zemi; pohynú mečom a hladom od malého až do veľkého, pomrú mečom a hladom a budú na kliatbu, na zdesenie a na zlorečenstvo a na potupu.

¹³For I will punish those who dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence;

¹⁴so that none of the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, shall escape or be left, to return into the land of Judah, to which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return save such as shall escape.

¹⁴A neujde nikto, ani nepozostane zbytku Júdovmu z tých, ktorí vošli pohostíniť tam, v Egyptskej zemi, aby sa potom navrátili do zeme Júdovej, po ktorej v túžbe pozdvihujú svoju dušu, aby sa ta navrátili a bývali tam. Ale sa nenavrátia, iba tí, ktorí ujdú.

¹⁵Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a great assembly, even all the people who lived in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,

¹⁵Vtedy odpovedali Jeremiášovi všetci mužovia, ktorí vedeli, že ich ženy kadia iným bohom, i všetky ženy, ktoré tam stály, veľké shromaždenie i všetok ľud, ktorí bývali v Egyptskej zemi, v Patrose, a riekli:

¹⁶As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of Yahweh, we will not listen to you.

¹⁶Čo do veci, ktorú si nám hovoril v mene Hospodinovom, neposlúchneme ťa,

¹⁷But we will certainly perform every word that is gone forth out of our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of the sky, and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then had we plenty of food, and were well, and saw no evil.

¹⁷ale istotne vykonáme každé slovo, ktoré vyšlo z našich úst, a budeme kadiť kráľovnej neba a lievať jej liate obeti, jako sme robievali my a naši otcovia, naši kráľovia a naše kniežatá po mestách Júdových a po uliciach Jeruzalema, a tak sme sa vše nasýtili chleba a mali sme sa dobre a nevideli sme ničoho zlého.

¹⁸But since we left off burning incense to the queen of the sky, and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.

¹⁸Ale odvtedy, odkedy sme prestali kadiť kráľovnej nebies a liať jej liate obeti, máme všetkého nedostatok a hynieme od meča a hladu.

¹⁹When we burned incense to the queen of the sky, and poured out drink offerings to her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings to her, without our husbands?

¹⁹A keď kadíme kráľovnej nebies a lejeme jej liate obeti - vravely ženy -, či jej azda robíme koláče bez vedomia svojich mužov vyobrazujúc ju a lejúc jej liate obeti?

²⁰Then Jeremiah said to all the people, to the men, and to the women, even to all the people who had given him an answer, saying,

²⁰Na to povedal Jeremiáš všetkému ľudu, mužom i ženám, a všetkému ľudu, ktorí mu to odpovedali, a riekol:

²¹The incense that you burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land, didn’t Yahweh remember them, and didn’t it come into his mind?

²¹Či to nebolo práve to kadenie, ktoré ste kadili po mestách Júdových a po uliciach Jeruzalema, vy i vaši otcovia, vaši kráľovia i vaše kniežatá i ľud zeme, na ktoré sa rozpamätal Hospodin, a ktoré vstúpilo na jeho srdce.

²²so that Yahweh could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which you have committed; therefore your land has become a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is this day.

²²A nemohol už Hospodin ďalej niesť pre nešľachetnosť vašich skutkov, pre ohavnosti, ktoré ste páchali, a preto je vaša zem obrátená v púšť a desnú pustinu a v zlorečenstvo, takže niet v nej obyvateľa, jako to vidieť tohoto dňa.

²³Because you have burned incense, and because you have sinned against Yahweh, and have not obeyed the voice of Yahweh, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil has happened to you, as it is this day.

²³Preto, že ste kadili a preto, že ste hrešili proti Hospodinovi a nepočúvali ste na hlas Hospodinov a nechodili ste v jeho zákone a v jeho ustanoveniach ani v jeho svedoctvách, preto prišlo na vás toto zlé, jako je tomu tohoto dňa.

²⁴Moreover Jeremiah said to all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of Yahweh, all Judah who are in the land of Egypt:

²⁴Potom ešte povedal Jeremiáš všetkému ľudu a všetkým tým ženám: Počujte slovo Hospodinovo, všetok Júda, ktorí ste v Egyptskej zemi!

²⁵Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, saying, You and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and with your hands have fulfilled it, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of the sky, and to pour out drink offerings to her: establish then your vows, and perform your vows.

²⁵Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov, Bôh Izraelov: Vy i vaše ženy ste hovorili svojimi ústami a svojimi rukami ste doplnili povediac: Istotne splníme svoje sľuby, ktoré sme sľúbili, že budeme kadiť kráľovnej nebies a že jej budeme lievať liate obeti. A tak tedy, vy ženy, len plňte snažne svoje sľuby a vykonať vykonajte svoje sľuby!

²⁶Therefore hear the word of Yahweh, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: Behold, I have sworn by my great name, says Yahweh, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, As the Lord Yahweh lives.

²⁶Preto počujte slovo Hospodinovo, všetok Júda, ktorí bývate Egyptskej zemi! Hľa, prisahám na svoje veľké meno, hovorí Hospodin, že nebude viacej menované moje meno ústami niktorého muža Júdovho, ktorý by povedal: Ako že žije Pán Hospodin, v celej zemi Egyptskej.

²⁷Behold, I watch over them for evil, and not for good; and all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until they are all gone.

²⁷Hľa, budem bdieť nad nimi na zlé a nie na dobré, a budú hynúť všetci mužovia Júdovi, ktorí sú v Egyptskej zemi, mečom a hladom, dokiaľ i nepohynú docela.

²⁸Those who escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, few in number; and all the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, shall know whose word shall stand, mine, or theirs.

²⁸A tí, ktorí uniknú meču, navrátia sa z Egyptskej zeme do zeme Júdovej, v malom počte. A tak poznajú, všetok ostatok Júdov, ktorí prišli do Egyptskej zeme, aby tam pohostínili, čie slovo bude stáť, či moje a či ich.

²⁹This shall be the sign to you, says Yahweh, that I will punish you in this place, that you may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:

²⁹A toto vám bude znamením, hovorí Hospodin, že navštívim na vás vaše hriechy na tomto mieste, aby ste poznali, že istotne budú stáť moje slová proti vám na zlé.

³⁰Thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of those who seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who was his enemy, and sought his life.

³⁰Takto hovorí Hospodin: Hľa, vydám faraona Chofru, egyptského kráľa, do ruky jeho nepriateľov a do ruky tých, ktorí hľadajú jeho dušu, jako som vydal Cedekiáša, judského kráľa, do ruky Nabuchodonozora, babylonského kráľa, jeho nepriateľa a toho, ktorý hľadal jeho dušu.
