¹The message that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he wrote these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying,

¹Slovo, ktoré hovoril prorok Jeremiáš Báruchovi, synovi Neriášovmu, keď písal tieto slová do knihy z úst Jeremiášových vo štvrtom roku Jehojakima, syna Joziášovho, judského kráľa, a vravel:

²Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, to you, Baruch:

²Takto hovorí Hospodin, Bôh Izraelov, o tebe, Báruchu:

³You said, Woe is me now! for Yahweh has added sorrow to my pain; I am weary with my groaning, and I find no rest.

³Povedal si: Oj, beda mne! Lebo Hospodin pridal trápenia duše k mojej bolesti. Ustávam vo svojom úpení a nenachádzam odpočinku.

⁴You shall tell him, Thus says Yahweh: Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up; and this in the whole land.

⁴Takto mu povieš: Takto hovorí Hospodin: Hľa, to, čo som vybudoval, borím, a to, čo som zasadil, plienim, a tak celú zem; moja je.

⁵Do you seek great things for yourself? Don’t seek them; for, behold, I will bring evil on all flesh, says Yahweh; but your life will I give to you for a prey in all places where you go.

⁵A ty by si hľadal pre seba veľké veci? Nehľadaj! Lebo hľa, uvediem zlé na každé telo, hovorí Hospodin, a tebe dám tvoju dušu za korisť na všetkých miestach, kamkoľvek pôjdeš.
