¹If there arise in the midst of you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and he give you a sign or a wonder,

²and the sign or the wonder come to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, “Let us go after other gods” (which you have not known) “and let us serve them”;

²in se zgodi tisto znamenje ali čudo, za katero ti je pravil, rekoč: Pojdimo za drugimi bogovi, katerih nisi poznal, in služimo jim!

³you shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or to that dreamer of dreams: for Yahweh your God proves you, to know whether you love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

³ne poslušaj besed takega proroka ali tistega, ki ima sanje; zakaj GOSPOD, vaš Bog, vas izkuša, da se spozna, ali ljubite GOSPODA, svojega Boga, iz vsega srca svojega in iz vse duše svoje.

⁴You shall walk after Yahweh your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and you shall serve him, and cling to him.

⁴Za GOSPODOM, svojim Bogom, hodite, njega se bojte, njegove zapovedi hranite in njegov glas poslušajte, njemu služite in njega se oklepajte.

⁵That prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death, because he has spoken rebellion against Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to draw you aside out of the way which Yahweh your God commanded you to walk in. So you shall put away the evil from the midst of you.

⁵Tisti prorok pa ali tisti sanjač mora umreti, zato ker je svetoval odpad zoper GOSPODA, vašega Boga, ki vas je izpeljal iz dežele Egiptovske in vas odkupil iz hiše sužnosti, da bi te pahnil s pota, po katerem ti je zapovedal GOSPOD hoditi. Tako odpraviš hudo izmed sebe.

⁶If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend, who is as your own soul, entice you secretly, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods,” which you have not known, you, nor your fathers;

⁶Ako te izpodbuja na skrivnem tvoj brat, sin matere tvoje, ali tvoj sin, ali tvoja hči, ali žena, ki ti je v naročju, ali prijatelj, ki ti je kakor tvoje srce, govoreč: Pojdimo in služimo drugim bogovom, ki jih nisi poznal ne ti, ne očetje tvoji,

⁷of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near to you, or far off from you, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth;

⁷izmed bogov tistih ljudstev, ki so okoli tebe, bodisi blizu tebe ali daleč od tebe, od enega do drugega konca zemlje:

⁸you shall not consent to him, nor listen to him; neither shall your eye pity him, neither shall you spare, neither shall you conceal him:

⁸ne vdaj se mu, tudi ga ne poslušaj, in naj se ga ne usmili oko tvoje, da bi mu prizanesel ali pa ga skrival,

⁹but you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

⁹marveč umoriti ga moraš; tvoja roka bodi prva nad njim, da bo dan v smrt, in potem vsega ljudstva roka.

¹⁰You shall stone him to death with stones, because he has sought to draw you away from Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

¹⁰S kamenjem ga posuješ, da umre, ker te je hotel odvrniti od GOSPODA, tvojega Boga, ki te je odpeljal iz dežele Egiptovske, iz hiše sužnosti:

¹¹All Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall not do any more such wickedness as this is in the midst of you.

¹¹da začuje to ves Izrael in se boji in nihče več ne počenja take hudobnosti sredi tebe.

¹²If you shall hear tell concerning one of your cities, which Yahweh your God gives you to dwell there, saying,

¹²Ako zaslišiš, da kdo poreče o enem iz tvojih mest, ki ti jih GOSPOD, tvoj Bog, da v prebivanje:

¹³Certain base fellows are gone out from the midst of you, and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods,” which you have not known;

¹³Neki možje, otroci Belijalovi [Belijal pomeni: ničvrednost, hudoba, poguba.], so prišli izmed naših in odvrnili prebivalce svojega mesta, govoreč: Pojdimo in služimo drugim bogovom, ki jih niste poznali;

¹⁴then you shall inquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is done in the midst of you,

¹⁴tedaj poišči, poizvedi in natanko izprašaj, in glej, resnično je in dokazano, da se je taka gnusoba storila sredi tebe:

¹⁵you shall surely strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein and its livestock, with the edge of the sword.

¹⁵udari torej prebivalce tistega mesta z ostrino meča in s prokletjem ga pokončaj in vse, kar je v njem, tudi živino, z ostrino meča.

¹⁶You shall gather all its spoil into the midst of its street, and shall burn with fire the city, and all its spoil every whit, to Yahweh your God: and it shall be a heap forever; it shall not be built again.

¹⁶In ves plen iz njega zberi sredi njegovih ulic in sežgi z ognjem mesto in ves njegov plen dočista GOSPODU, svojemu Bogu; in grobljišče bodi vekomaj, nikoli več ne bodi sezidano.

¹⁷Nothing of the devoted thing shall cling to your hand; that Yahweh may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and show you mercy, and have compassion on you, and multiply you, as he has sworn to your fathers;

¹⁷In od tega v prokletje izročenega naj se nič ne prime tvoje roke; da se obrne GOSPOD od togote svojega srda in ti izkaže usmiljenje in te pomiluje in te pomnoži, kakor je prisegel očetom tvojim,ker poslušaš glas GOSPODA, svojega Boga, da bi držal vse njegove zapovedi, ki ti jih jaz danes zapovedujem, delajoč, kar je prav v očeh GOSPODA, tvojega Boga.

¹⁸when you shall listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, to keep all his commandments which I command you this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of Yahweh your God.

¹⁸ker poslušaš glas GOSPODA, svojega Boga, da bi držal vse njegove zapovedi, ki ti jih jaz danes zapovedujem, delajoč, kar je prav v očeh GOSPODA, tvojega Boga.
