¹Now Yahweh said to Abram, “Get out of your country, and from your relatives, and from your father’s house, to the land that I will show you.

¹In GOSPOD je rekel Abramu: Pojdi iz dežele svoje in od sorodovine svoje in iz očeta svojega hiše v deželo, ki ti jo pokažem;

²I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing.

²in storil te bom v narod velik in te blagoslovil, in poveličam ime tvoje, in v blagoslov bodi!

³I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. All of the families of the earth will be blessed in you.”

³In blagoslovil bom nje, ki blagoslavljajo tebe, in kdor te proklinja, njega bom proklel, in blagoslovljene bodo v tebi vse rodovine zemlje.

⁴So Abram went, as Yahweh had spoken to him. Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed out of Haran.

⁴In Abram se napoti, kakor mu je bil zapovedal GOSPOD, in Lot je šel ž njim; imel pa je Abram petinsedemdeset let, ko je potoval iz Harana.

⁵Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother’s son, all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls whom they had gotten in Haran, and they went to go into the land of Canaan. Into the land of Canaan they came.

⁵Vzame namreč Abram Sarajo, ženo svojo, in Lota, sina brata svojega, z vsem premoženjem svojim, katero so pridelali, in z dušami, ki so jih pridobili v Haranu, in odpotujejo, da bi šli v pokrajino Kanaansko. In prišli so v deželo Kanaansko.

⁶Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. The Canaanite was then in the land.

⁶In Abram preide deželo do kraja Sihema, do hrasta Morejevega. Bival je pa tedaj Kanaanec v deželi.

⁷Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your seed or, offspring .” He built an altar there to Yahweh, who appeared to him.

⁷In GOSPOD se prikaže Abramu ter reče: Semenu tvojemu hočem dati to deželo. Abram pa postavi tam oltar GOSPODU, ki se mu je bil prikazal.

⁸He left from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh and called on the name of Yahweh.

⁸In napoti se odtod v gorovje proti jutranji strani Betela in postavi šator svoj: Betel mu je bil od zahoda in Aj od vzhoda; in postavi tam oltar GOSPODU, in klical je ime GOSPODOVO.

⁹Abram traveled, going on still toward the South.

¹⁰There was a famine in the land. Abram went down into Egypt to live as a foreigner there, for the famine was severe in the land.

¹⁰Bila pa je lakota v deželi, zatorej gre Abram doli v Egipt, da bi tujčeval ondi, ker huda lakota je bila v deželi.

¹¹It happened, when he had come near to enter Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, “See now, I know that you are a beautiful woman to look at.

¹¹In ko je bil že blizu, da pride v Egipt, reče Saraji, ženi svoji: Glej, znam, da si žena lepe postave.

¹²It will happen, when the Egyptians will see you, that they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ They will kill me, but they will save you alive.

¹²Lahko se zgodi, ko te zagledajo Egipčani in reko: Ta je žena njegova, da me ubijejo, tebe pa ohranijo živo.

¹³Please say that you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that my soul may live because of you.”

¹⁴It happened that when Abram had come into Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.

¹⁵The princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh’s house.

²⁰Pharaoh commanded men concerning him, and they brought him on the way with his wife and all that he had.
