12Nezuva rekutanga rechingwa chisina mbiriso, pavaibaya pasika, vadzidzi vake vakati kwaari: Ndekupi kwamunoda kuti tiende kunogadzirira kuti mudye pasika?
13He sent two of his disciples, and said to them, “Go into the city, and there you will meet a man carrying a pitcher of water. Follow him,
13Akatuma vaviri vevadzidzi vake, akati kwavari: Endai muguta, ipapo munhu uchasangana nemwi akatakura chirongo chemvura; mumutevere,

19Ndokubva vatanga kushungurudzika, umwe neumwe akati kwaari: Zirokwazvo handisi ini here? neumwe: Zvirokwazvo handisi ini here?
20He answered them, “It is one of the twelve, he who dips with me in the dish.
20Asi wakapindura akati kwavari: Umwe wevanegumi nevaviri, unoseva neni mundiro.
21 For the Son of Man goes, even as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for that man if he had not been born.”
21Mwanakomana wemunhu unoenda zvirokwazvo, sezvazvakanyorwa pamusoro pake; asi une nhamo munhu uyo, Mwanakomana wemunhu waanotengeswa naye! Zvaiva nani kwaari kana munhu uyo aiva asina kuzvarwa.

24Zvino akati kwavari: Iri iropa rangu, iro resungano itsva, rinoteurirwa vazhinji.
25 Most certainly I tell you, I will no more drink of the fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it anew in the Kingdom of God.”

27Zvino Jesu akati kwavari: Mose muchagumburwa nekuda kwangu usiku huno, nekuti kwakanyorwa kuchinzi: Ndicharova mufudzi, makwai agopararira.
28 However, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee.”
28Asi shure kwekumutswa kwangu, ndichatungamira kuenda kuGarirea.
29But Peter said to him, “Although all will be offended, yet I will not.”
29Asi Petro akati kwaari: Kunyange vose vakagumburwa, asi kwete ini.
30Jesus said to him, “Most certainly I tell you, that you today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.”
30Jesu ndokuti kwaari: Zvirokwazvo ndinoti kwauri: Nhasi, neusiku huno, jongwe risati rarira kaviri, uchandiramba katatu.
31But he spoke all the more, “If I must die with you, I will not deny you.” They all said the same thing.
31Asi iye wakareva zvakanyanya kusimba, achiti: Kunyange ndikatofanira kufa nemwi, handingatongokurambiyi. Nevosewo vakadaro.
32They came to a place which was named Gethsemane. He said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I pray.”
32Zvino vakasvika panzvimbo yainzi Getsemani; akati kuvadzidzi vake: Garai pano, ndichindonyengetera.
33He took with him Peter, James, and John, and began to be greatly troubled and distressed.

34He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch.”
34Akati kwavari: Mweya wangu unoshungurudzika kwazvo kusvikira pakufa; garai pano murinde.
35He went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him.

36He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire.”
36Zvino akati: Abha*, Baba, zvinhu zvose zvinogoneka kwamuri. Bvisai mukombe uyu kwandiri, asi kwete zvandinoda ini, asi zvamunoda imwi.
37He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Couldn’t you watch one hour?
37Zvino akasvika, akavawana vavete; akati kuna Petro: Simoni, uvete here? Wakonewa kurinda awa rimwe here?
38 Watch and pray, that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
38Rindai munyengetere, kuti murege kupinda mumuedzo. Mweya unoda hawo, asi nyama ine utera.
39Again he went away, and prayed, saying the same words.
39Akaendazve, akanyengetera achireva mashoko mwamwechete.
40Again he returned, and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy, and they didn’t know what to answer him.
40Zvino paakadzoka, akavawana vavatazve, nekuti meso avo akange orema; vakasaziva zvavangamupindura.
41He came the third time, and said to them, “Sleep on now, and take your rest. It is enough. The hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
41Akauya rwechitatu, akati kwavari: Chirambai muvete zvino muzorore. Zvaringana; nguva yasvika; tarirai, Mwanakomana wemunhu wokumikidzwa mumaoko avatadzi.
42 Arise, let us be going. Behold, he who betrays me is at hand.”
42Simukai, tiende; tarirai, wonditengesa wava pedo.
43Immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came—and with him a multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders.
43Pakarepo achataura, Judhasi akasvika, umwe wevanegumi nevaviri, chaunga chikuru chinaye chine minondo netsvimbo, chichibva kuvapristi vakuru nevanyori nevakuru.
44Now he who betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I will kiss, that is he. Seize him, and lead him away safely.”
44Zvino iye wakamutengesa wakange avapa chiratidzo, achiti: Uyo wandinongotsvoda ndiye; mumutore muende naye makamuchengetedza.
45When he had come, immediately he came to him, and said, “Rabbi! Rabbi!” and kissed him.
45Zvino wakati asvika, pakarepo akaswedera kwaari akati: Rabhi*! Rabhi! Akamutsvoda.
46They laid their hands on him, and seized him.
46Vakabva vaisa maoko avo kwaari, vakamubata.
47But a certain one of those who stood by drew his sword, and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
47Zvino umwe wevakange vamirepo wakavhomora munondo akatema muranda wemupristi mukuru, akagura nzeve yake.
48Jesus answered them, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to seize me?
48Zvino Jesu akapindura akati kwavari: Mabuda semakanangana negororo neminondo netsvimbo kuzondibata here?
49 I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and you didn’t arrest me. But this is so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled.”
49Ndakange ndinemwi mutembere zuva nezuva ndichidzidzisa, asi hamuna kundibata, asi izvi zvaitwa kuti magwaro azadziswe.
50They all left him, and fled.
50Vose ndokumusiya vakatiza.
51A certain young man followed him, having a linen cloth thrown around himself, over his naked body. The young men grabbed him,
51Zvino rimwe jaya rakamutevera, rakamonera mucheka werineni rakashama. Majaya akaribata;
52but he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.
52ndokubva rasiya mucheka werineni, rikavatiza rakashama.
53They led Jesus away to the high priest. All the chief priests, the elders, and the scribes came together with him.
53Zvino vakaendesa Jesu kumupristi mukuru; vakaunganira kwaari vapristi vakuru vose nevakuru nevanyori.
54Peter had followed him from a distance, until he came into the court of the high priest. He was sitting with the officers, and warming himself in the light of the fire.
54Petro akamutevera ari kure kusvikira mukati meruvanze rwomupristi mukuru; akange agere pamwe nevaranda, achidziya moto.
55Now the chief priests and the whole council sought witnesses against Jesus to put him to death, and found none.
55Zvino vapristi vakuru nedare rose remakurukota vakatsvaka uchapupu hwakanangana naJesu, kuti vamuuraye; asi havana kuhuwana.
56For many gave false testimony against him, and their testimony didn’t agree with each other.
56Nekuti vazhinji vaimupupurira nhema, asi uchapupu hauna kupindirana.
57Some stood up, and gave false testimony against him, saying,
57Ndokubva kwasimuka vamwe vakamupupurira nhema vachiti:
58“We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.’”
58Isu takamunzwa achiti: Ini ndichaputsa tembere iyi yakaitwa nemaoko, uye mumazuva matatu ndichavaka imwe isina kuitwa nemaoko.
59Even so, their testimony did not agree.
59Asi kunyange zvakadaro uchapupu hwavo hauna kupindirana.
60The high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, “Have you no answer? What is it which these testify against you?”
60Zvino mupristi mukuru akasimuka pakati pavo, akabvunza Jesu, achiti: Haupinduri chinhu here? Vanopupurei ava chakanangana newe?
61But he stayed quiet, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?”
61Asi wakanyarara, akasapindura chinhu. Mupristi mukuru akamubvunzazve, akati kwaari: Iwe uri Kristu, Mwanakomana woWakaropafadzwa here?
62Jesus said, “I am. You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of the sky.”
62Jesu akati: Ndini iye. Uye muchaona Mwanakomana wemunhu agere kuruoko rwerudyi rwesimba, achiuya nemakore ekudenga.
63The high priest tore his clothes, and said, “What further need have we of witnesses?
63Mupristi mukuru ndokubvarura nguvo dzake akati: Tichadirei zvapupu?
64You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?” They all condemned him to be worthy of death.
64Manzwa kunyomba; munofungei? Zvino vose vakamurasha kuti ave nemhosva yerufu.
65Some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to beat him with fists, and to tell him, “Prophesy!” The officers struck him with the palms of their hands.
65Vamwe vakatanga kumupfira, nekufukidza chiso chake, nekumurova netsiva, nekuti kwaari: Porofita! Varanda vakamurova nembama dzamaoko avo.
66As Peter was in the courtyard below, one of the maids of the high priest came,
66Zvino Petro achiri paruvanze pasi, pakasvika umwe wevarandakadzi vemupristi mukuru;
67and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him, and said, “You were also with the Nazarene, Jesus!”
67achiona Petro achizvidziyisa, akamutarira akati: Iwewo wakange una Jesu weNazareta.
68But he denied it, saying, “I neither know, nor understand what you are saying.” He went out on the porch, and the rooster crowed.
68Asi wakaramba, achiti: Handizivi kana kunzwisisa zvaunoreva. Akabuda panze akaenda kumusuwo; jongwe rikarira.
69The maid saw him, and began again to tell those who stood by, “This is one of them.”
69Zvino murandakadzi akamuonazve, akatanga kuti kuna vakange vamirepo: Uyu ndewavo.
70But he again denied it. After a little while again those who stood by said to Peter, “You truly are one of them, for you are a Galilean, and your speech shows it.”
70Asi wakarambazve. Zvino shure kwechinguvana, vakange vamirepo vakatizve kuna Petro: Zvirokwazvo, uri wavo, nekuti newe uri muGarirea nemutauro wako unotenderana nazvo.
71But he began to curse, and to swear, “I don’t know this man of whom you speak!”
71Akatanga kupa rushambwa nekupika, achiti: Handimuzivi munhu uyu wamunoreva.
72The rooster crowed the second time. Peter remembered the word, how that Jesus said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” When he thought about that, he wept.
72Zvino jongwe rikarira rwechipiri. Petro ndokurangarira shoko Jesu raakange areva kwaari rekuti: Jongwe risati rarira kaviri, uchandiramba katatu. Zvino wakati achifunga izvozvo akachema.
