4

1Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity were building a temple to Yahweh, the God of Israel;
1 Amma waato kaŋ Yahudancey da Benyamin borey ibarey maa baaru kaŋ tamtaray izey goono ga windi cina Rabbi, Israyla Irikoyo se,
2then they drew near to Zerubbabel, and to the heads of fathers’ households, and said to them, “Let us build with you; for we seek your God, as you do; and we sacrifice to him since the days of Esar Haddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here.”
2 alwaati din i maan ka to Zerubabel do ka koy kaayey windi arkusey mo do, ka ne i se: «Wa naŋ iri mo, iri ma cina araŋ banda, zama iri goono g'araŋ Irikoyo ceeci, sanda mate kaŋ cine araŋ goono ga te. Iri goono ga sarga a se za Assiriya bonkoono Ezar-Haddon zamana ra, nga kaŋ kande iri neewo.»
3But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the heads of fathers’ households of Israel, said to them, “You have nothing to do with us in building a house to our God; but we ourselves together will build to Yahweh, the God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia has commanded us.”
3 Amma Zerubabel da Yesuwa nda kaayey windi arkusey Israyla ra ne woodin yaŋ se: «Araŋ sinda baa iri Irikoyo se windi cinayaŋ ciina ra, amma iri bumbey ga windi cina Rabbi, Israyla Irikoyo se, sanda mate kaŋ cine Persiya bonkoono Sirus n'iri no lordi.»
4Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,
4 I go no mo, laabo borey na Yahuda borey kambey gaabo wi, i n'i humburandi cinayaŋo ra.
5and hired counselors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.
5 I zinga nda saawareko fooyaŋ kaŋ yaŋ ga koy k'i hiila, i m'i ganji ngey miila Persiya bonkoono Sirus jirbey kulu ra, hal a koy Persiya bonkoono Dariyus mayra waate.
6In the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.
6 Ahasuwerus mayra ra mo, a mayra sintina gaa, i na Yahuda nda Urusalima gorokoy kalima hantum.
7In the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of his companions, to Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in Syrian, and set forth in the Syrian language.
7 Artasersiz jirbey ra, kala Bislam, da Mitredat, da Tabeyel, da nga gorokasin cindey, i hantum Persiya bonkoono Artasersiz se. I na tira hantum da Aramancey kambe da Aramancey sanni mo.
8Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this sort:
8 Rehum kaŋ ga ti yaarima, nga nda Simsay, tira hantumkwa, ngey no ka hantum. I na tira hantum bonkoono Artasersiz se ya-cine Urusalima boŋ ka gaaba nd'a.
9then Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions, the Dinaites, and the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Shushanchites, the Dehaites, the Elamites,
9 (Alwaato din yaarima Rehum, da hantumkwa Simsay hantum, ngey nda ngey gorokasin cindey, danga ngey: Dinaya borey, da Aparsati waney, da Tarpeli, da Afarsi, da Arkabi, da Babila, da Susan, da Deha, da Elam,
10and the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Osnappar brought over, and set in the city of Samaria, and in the rest of the country beyond the River, and so forth, wrote.
10 da dumi fooyaŋ mo kaŋ yaŋ Onapper beeri darzakoyo kande k'i daŋ Samariya birno ra da laabu cindo kaŋ go isa se ya-haray,) da ya-cine da ya-cine:
11This is the copy of the letter that they sent to Artaxerxes the king: Your servants the men beyond the River, and so forth.
11 Woone mo, nga neeya tira cale fa kaŋ i samba bonkoono Artasersiz se, ka ne: «Ni bannyey kaŋ yaŋ go isa banda, ya-cine nda ya-cine:
12Be it known to the king, that the Jews who came up from you have come to us to Jerusalem; they are building the rebellious and the bad city, and have finished the walls, and repaired the foundations.
12 I ma bonkoono bayrandi kaŋ Yahudancey kaŋ yaŋ fun ni do, i to ne iri do Urusalima. I goono ga murteyaŋ da laala birno cina. I ga ba ka windey cinayaŋo ban, i n'i dabey kulu hanse.
13Be it known now to the king that if this city is built, and the walls finished, they will not pay tribute, custom, or toll, and in the end it will be hurtful to the kings.
13 I ma bonkoono bayrandi mo kaŋ sohõ d'i na birno din cina, i n'a windanta mo cina k'a hanse, i si ye ka jangal, wala marga-marga, wala dwan nooru bana koyne. A bananta mo, a ga kande koyey gaa mursay.
14Now because we eat the salt of the palace, and it is not appropriate for us to see the king’s dishonor, therefore have we sent and informed the king;
14 Sohõ binde, za kaŋ iri wo ga faada kaani ŋwa, a si hagu iri wo se iri ma di i goono ga bonkoono zamba. Woodin se no iri mo, iri donton ka ci ni se.
15that search may be made in the book of the records of your fathers: so you shall find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful to kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time; for which cause was this city laid waste.
15 Naŋ i ma fintalyaŋ te ni kaayey baaru tirey ra. Woodin gaa no ni ga du ka gar baaru tira ra ka bay kaŋ birno din ya murteyaŋ wane no, hasaraw teeyaŋ hari mo no koyey da laabey se. I na murteyaŋ tunandi mo a ra doŋ alwaatey ra. Woodin sabbay se no i na birno din ciya kurmu.
16We inform the king that, if this city be built, and the walls finished, by this means you shall have no portion beyond the River.
16 Iri ya day go ga ci bonkoono se, ka ne hala day i na birno din cina ka ban, i n'a windanta mo cina ka kubandi, woodin boŋ ni si ye ka du baa fo koyne isa daranta.»
17Then the king sent an answer to Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions who dwell in Samaria, and in the rest of the country beyond the River: Peace, and so forth.
17 Kala bonkoono na sanno ye yaarima Rehum, nga nda tira hantumkwa Simsay se, d'i gorokasiney kaŋ yaŋ go Samariya ra, da laabu cindey kaŋ go isa daŋanta. Tira ne: «Baani, da ya-cine da ya-cine.
18The letter which you sent to us has been plainly read before me.
18 Tira kaŋ araŋ samba ay se, i n'a barmay ka caw ay se. Ay na lordi te mo hal i na fintalyaŋ te.
19I decreed, and search has been made, and it is found that this city of old time has made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein.
19 I gar mo kaŋ birno wo murte bonkooney gaa za doŋ zamaney ra, hala nda murteyaŋ da me-hawyaŋ a ra.
20There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, who have ruled over all the country beyond the River; and tribute, custom, and toll, was paid to them.
20 Waato mo bonkooni gaabikooniyaŋ go Urusalima ra kaŋ yaŋ na isa daŋanta laabey kulu may. I na jangal da marga-marga da dwan nooru mo bana i se.
21Make a decree now to cause these men to cease, and that this city not be built, until a decree shall be made by me.
21 Kal araŋ ma hin sanni fo te sohõ, ka naŋ borey din ma cinayaŋo naŋ, i ma si birno din cina koyne, kala waati kaŋ ay na fondo no.
22Take heed that you not be slack herein: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?
22 Wa te laakal mo araŋ ma si naŋ woodin teeyaŋ ma gay. Ifo se no i ga fay da hasaraw hari hal a ma baa ka to bonkooney zambayaŋ?»
23Then when the copy of king Artaxerxes’ letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went in haste to Jerusalem to the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.
23 Sahãadin kaŋ i na bonkoono Artasersiz tira caw Rehum da tira hantumkwa Simsay se, d'i gorokasin cindey, kal i koy da cahãyaŋ hala Urusalima, Yahudancey do. I n'i tilasandi i ma naŋ gaabi-nda-gaabi.
24Then ceased the work of God’s house which is at Jerusalem; and it ceased until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.
24 Yaadin cine no i na Irikoy windo kaŋ go Urusalima ra cinayaŋo naŋ d'a. I gay d'a kala Persiya bonkoono Dariyus mayray jiiri hinkanta.
