Judges

19

1It happened in those days, when there was no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite living on the farther side of the hill country of Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Bethlehem Judah.
1 A ciya no, jirbey din ra kaŋ bonkooni si no Israyla ra, kala Lawiti fo go Ifraymu tondey laabo ra da goray. Nga mo na wahay sambu Baytlahami Yahudiya ra.
2His concubine played the prostitute against him, and went away from him to her father’s house to Bethlehem Judah, and was there the space of four months.
2 A wahayo din binde fay d'a ka te kaaruwa, ka koy nga baabo kwaara, Baytlahami Yahudiya ra. A goro noodin handu taaci.
3Her husband arose, and went after her, to speak kindly to her, to bring her again, having his servant with him, and a couple of donkeys: and she brought him into her father’s house; and when the father of the young lady saw him, he rejoiced to meet him.
3 Albora mo tun k'a gana zama nga m'a yaamar se, ka ye ka kand'a fu. A bannya fo go a banda da nga farkay hinka. Kala waybora na nga aro daŋ nga baaba windo ra. Waato kaŋ waybora baabo di nga izo aro, a farhã d'a diyaŋ.
4His father-in-law, the young lady’s father, retained him; and he stayed with him three days: so they ate and drink, and lodged there.
4 Anzura, kaŋ ga ti waybora baabo n'a gaay kal a te jirbi hinza noodin anzura windo ra. I binde ŋwa ka haŋ, ka goro noodin.
5It happened on the fourth day, that they arose early in the morning, and he rose up to depart: and the young lady’s father said to his son-in-law, “Strengthen your heart with a morsel of bread, and afterward you shall go your way.”
6So they sat down, ate, and drank, both of them together: and the young lady’s father said to the man, “Please be pleased to stay all night, and let your heart be merry.”
6 Kal i goro ka ŋwa ka haŋ care banda, i boro hinka kulu.
7The man rose up to depart; but his father-in-law urged him, and he lodged there again.
7 Bora binde tun zama nga ma dira ka koy, amma a anzura hin a, kal a ye ka kani koyne.
8He arose early in the morning on the fifth day to depart; and the young lady’s father said, “Please strengthen your heart and stay until the day declines”; and they both ate.
I boro hinka kulu binde ŋwa.
9When the man rose up to depart, he, and his concubine, and his servant, his father-in-law, the young lady’s father, said to him, “Behold, now the day draws toward evening, please stay all night: behold, the day grows to an end, lodge here, that your heart may be merry; and tomorrow go on your way early, that you may go home.”
9 Waato kaŋ cine bora tun ka ne nga ga dira, nga nda nga wahay da nga bannya, kal a anzura, kaŋ ga ti waybora baabo ne a se: «Guna, sohõ wayna ga ba ka kaŋ.
10But the man wouldn’t stay that night, but he rose up and departed, and came over against Jebus (the same is Jerusalem): and there were with him a couple of donkeys saddled; his concubine also was with him.
10 Amma bora wangu ka kani. Kal a tun ka fatta, a koy ka to Yebus kaŋ ga ti Urusalima. A banda mo farkay hinka go no da ngey lafarey. A wahayo mo go a banda.
11When they were by Jebus, the day was far spent; and the servant said to his master, “Please come and let us turn aside into this city of the Jebusites, and lodge in it.”
11 Wayna yay saaya kaŋ cine i maan Yebus. Bannya mo ne nga koyo se: «Ay ga ni ŋwaaray, ma kaa iri ma furo Yebusancey birno wo ra ka kani.»
12His master said to him, “We won’t turn aside into the city of a foreigner, that is not of the children of Israel; but we will pass over to Gibeah.”
12 Amma koyo ne a se: «Iri si kamba ka furo mebaraw birni fo ra, kaŋ manti Israyla izey wane no, amma iri ga bisa ka koy Jibeya.»
13He said to his servant, “Come and let us draw near to one of these places; and we will lodge in Gibeah, or in Ramah.”
13 A ne mo nga bannya se: «Ma kaa, iri ma maan nangey wo afo. Iri ma zumbu Jibeya ra, wala Rama.»
14So they passed on and went their way; and the sun went down on them near to Gibeah, which belongs to Benjamin.
14 I binde bisa ka ngey diraw te. Wayna mo kaŋ i gaa waato kaŋ i maan Jibeya, Benyamin wano.
15They turned aside there, to go in to lodge in Gibeah: and he went in, and sat him down in the street of the city; for there was no man who took them into his house to lodge.
15 I kamba mo, zama ngey ma furo ka zumbu Jibeya. Kaŋ i furo, i goro ganda birno batama ra, zama boro kulu mana i zumandi nga windo ra.
16Behold, there came an old man from his work out of the field at evening: now the man was of the hill country of Ephraim, and he lived in Gibeah; but the men of the place were Benjamites.
16 Kala alboro zeeno fo go, a kaa ka fun nga fari goy do wiciri kambu. Bora din mo, Ifraymu tondey laabo ra boro no, day a goono ga goro Jibeya. Amma nango din borey Benyamin dumiyaŋ no.
17He lifted up his eyes, and saw the wayfaring man in the street of the city; and the old man said, “Where are you going? Where did you come from?”
17 Kal a na nga boŋ sambu ka guna. A di naarukwa din birno batama ra. Alboro zeena ne a se: «Man no ni goono ga koy, man no ni fun mo?»
18He said to him, “We are passing from Bethlehem Judah to the farther side of the hill country of Ephraim. I am from there, and I went to Bethlehem Judah. I am going to the house of Yahweh; and there is no man who takes me into his house.
18 A ne albora se: «Iri goono ga naaru no. Iri fun Baytlahami-Yahudiya, ga daŋandi ka koy Ifraymu tondey laabu banda. Noodin no ay go da goray. Ay koy Baytlahami-Yahudiya. Sohõ ay goono ga koy Rabbi windo nango do. Ay mana du mo boro kaŋ g'ay zumandi nga windo ra.
19Yet there is both straw and provender for our donkeys; and there is bread and wine also for me, and for your handmaid, and for the young man who is with your servants: there is no want of anything.”
19 A go mo, kwaari go no, d'iri farkayey ŋwaari. Buuru da duvan* mo go no in d'ay wahayo se, da arwaso wo mo kaŋ go iri, ni bannyey banda se. Iri mana jaŋ hay kulu.»
20The old man said, “Peace be to you; howsoever let all your wants lie on me; only don’t lodge in the street.”
20 Alboro zeena binde ne: «Wa kubayni, kulu nda yaadin.
21So he brought him into his house, and gave the donkeys fodder; and they washed their feet, and ate and drink.
21 A kand'a nga windo ra. A na farkayey no ŋwaari. I na ngey cey nyun ka ŋwa ka haŋ.
22As they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain base fellows, surrounded the house, beating at the door; and they spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying, “Bring out the man who came into your house, that we may have sex with him!”
22 I goono ga maa ndunnya kaani yaadin, kala birno boro yaamo fooyaŋ go, i kaa. I na windo windi ka daŋ game, i goono ga windi meyo kar. I soobay ka salaŋ da windikoyo, alboro zeena din. I ne: «Ma fatta da bora din kaŋ furo ni windo ra, zama iri ma margu nd'a.»
23The man, the master of the house, went out to them, and said to them, “No, my brothers, please don’t act so wickedly; since this man has come into my house, don’t do this folly.
23 Nga din, bora, windikoyo fatta ka koy i do. A ne i se: «Abada, ay nya-izey, ay g'araŋ ŋwaaray, wa si goy laalo te ya-cine. Za kaŋ boro wo go, a kaa ay windo do, wa si saamotaray goy woodin te.
24Behold, here is my virgin daughter and his concubine. I will bring them out now. Humble them, and do with them what seems good to you; but to this man don’t do any such folly.”
24 Ay ize wandiyo neeya, da bora wahayo mo, ngey no ay ga kande araŋ se sohõ. Araŋ m'i sara ka te i se hay kulu kaŋ kaan araŋ se.
25But the men wouldn’t listen to him: so the man laid hold of his concubine, and brought her out to them; and they had sex with her, and abused her all night until the morning: and when the day began to dawn, they let her go.
25 Amma borey din wangu ka maa a sanno. I margu nd'a, i hanna k'a hasara kala mo bo. Waato kaŋ mo ga ba ka bo, i na waybora taŋ.
26Then came the woman in the dawning of the day, and fell down at the door of the man’s house where her lord was, until it was light.
26 Waato din gaa, susubay da hinay, waybora kaa ka kaŋ bora fu meyo gaa, nango kaŋ a koyo go. A go noodin kala batama hanan.
27Her lord rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his way; and behold, the woman his concubine was fallen down at the door of the house, with her hands on the threshold.
27 A koyo tun susuba ka fu meyo fiti. A fatta zama nga ma nga dirawo te. Kala waybora go, wahayo din kaŋ ganda fu meyo gaa. A kambey mo go fu meyo kutijo gaa.
28He said to her, “Get up, and let us be going!” but no one answered. Then he took her up on the donkey; and the man rose up, and went to his place.
Amma tuyaŋ si no. Kala bora n'a sambu k'a dake nga farka boŋ. Bora binde tun ka koy nga kwaara.
29When he had come into his house, he took a knife, and laid hold on his concubine, and divided her, limb by limb, into twelve pieces, and sent her throughout all the borders of Israel.
29 Waato kaŋ a to nga kwaara, a na zaama sambu ka nga wahayo dumbu ka fay dabey gaa, kal a to baa way cindi hinka. A n'i donton i ma koy Israyla kunda kulu do.
30It was so, that all who saw it said, “There was no such deed done nor seen from the day that the children of Israel came up out of the land of Egypt to this day! Consider it, take counsel, and speak.”
30 A ciya binde, boro kulu kaŋ di a kal a ma ne: «I mana goy woone dumi te baa ce fo. I mana di a mo, za han kaŋ hane Israyla izey fun Misira laabo ra ka kaa sohõ. Araŋ ma lasaabu ka saaware ka ci haŋ kaŋ go araŋ biney ra.»
