1 Corinthians

10

1Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
1For I would not, brethren, have you ignorant, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2and were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
2 Ikulu du baptisma Musa ra buro da teeko do.
2and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3and all ate the same spiritual food;
3 Ikulu na ŋwaari dumi folloŋ ŋwa kaŋ fun Irikoy do.
3and did all eat the same spiritual food;
4and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.
4 Ikulu na hari dumi folloŋ haŋ mo kaŋ fun Irikoy do. Zama tondo kaŋ fun Irikoy do kaŋ go i banda din gaa no i haŋ. Tondo din mo ga ti Almasihu.
4and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them: and the rock was Christ.
5However with most of them, God was not well pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
5 Amma i boro boobo, Irikoy mana maa i kaani. A sabbay se no a n'i buukoy say-say ka furu ganjo ra.
5Howbeit with most of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
6Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
7Neither be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”
7 Araŋ ma si te tooru ganakoyaŋ mo, mate kaŋ cine i boro fooyaŋ te, mate kaŋ a go hantumante ka ne: «Jama goro ganda zama ngey ma ŋwa ka haŋ, i tun mo zama ngey ma fooru se.»
7Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
8Neither let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.
Zaari folloŋ ra i boro zambar waranka cindi hinza no bu.
8Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
9Neither let us test the Lord, as some of them tested, and perished by the serpents.
9 Iri ma si Rabbi si mo, mate kaŋ i boro fooyaŋ n'a si, gondey mo n'i halaci.
9Neither let us make trial of the Lord, as some of them made trial, and perished by the serpents.
10Neither grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer.
10 Araŋ ma si jance mo, mate kaŋ i boro fooyaŋ te, i halaci mo halaciyankoyo do.
10Neither murmur ye, as some of them murmured, and perished by the destroyer.
11Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come.
11 Hayey din kulu te i gaa danga misayaŋ. I n'i hantum mo ka te iri se kaseetiyaŋ hari, iri kaŋ yaŋ zamaney toonandiyaŋ kaa iri gaa.
11Now these things happened unto them by way of example; and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.
12Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn’t fall.
12 Woodin sabbay se, boro kaŋ go ga tammahã nga go ga kay, a ma haggoy nga ma si kaŋ.
12Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
13No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
13 Siyaŋ kulu mana du araŋ kala day wo kaŋ dumi ga kaa boro kulu gaa. Amma Irikoy ya naanaykoy no kaŋ si ta araŋ ma du siyaŋ kaŋ ga bisa araŋ hina, amma siyaŋo alwaato ra no a ga faaba fondo te araŋ se hal araŋ ma du ka hin a.
13There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it.
14Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
14Wherefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
15I speak as to wise men. Judge what I say.
15 Ay go ga salaŋ danga laakalkooniyaŋ se, araŋ ma guna haŋ kaŋ ay go ga ci.
15I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
16The cup of blessing which we bless, isn’t it a sharing of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, isn’t it a sharing of the body of Christ?
16 Gaasiya kaŋ ra albarka go, kaŋ se iri ga Irikoy sifa, manti nga no g'iri markasina da Almasihu kuro cabe? Buuru kunkuno kaŋ iri ga ceeri mo, manti nga no g'iri markasina da Almasihu gaahamo cabe?
16The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not a communion of the body of Christ?
17Because there is one loaf of bread, we, who are many, are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf of bread.
17 Zama buuru kunkuni follonka go no, iri kaŋ ga ti iboobo, iri ciya gaaham folloŋ, zama iri kulu ga margu kunkuni follonka din gaa.
17seeing that we, who are many, are one bread, one body: for we are all partake of the one bread.
18Consider Israel according to the flesh. Don’t those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar?
18 Wa guna Israyla* kunda. Borey kaŋ yaŋ go ga sargayey ŋwa kaŋ i kande sargay feema do, manti i ga margu nda sargay feema no?
18Behold Israel after the flesh: have not they that eat the sacrifices communion with the altar?
19What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
19 Yaadin gaa, ifo no ay go ga ne? Abada!
19What say I then? that a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
20But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God, and I don’t desire that you would have fellowship with demons.
20 Amma haŋ kaŋ dumi cindey go ga sarga toorey se, i go g'a sarga follayey se, manti Irikoy se no. Ay si ba mo araŋ ma margu nda follayey.
20But [I say], that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have communion with demons.
21You can’t both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You can’t both partake of the table of the Lord, and of the table of demons.
21Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons: ye cannot partake of the table of the Lord, and of the table of demons.
22Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
22 Wala iri go ga Irikoy zukku hal a ma canse? Iri ga bis'a gaabi no?
22Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
23“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are profitable. “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things build up.
23 Hay kulu ga halal, amma manti hay kulu no i ga hima ka te. Hay kulu ga halal, amma manti hay kulu no ga jina-koyyaŋ te.
23All things are lawful; but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful; but not all things edify.
24Let no one seek his own, but each one his neighbor’s good.
24Let no man seek his own, but [each] his neighbor's [good].
25Whatever is sold in the butcher shop, eat, asking no question for the sake of conscience,
25 Hay kulu kaŋ fawakoy ga neera, araŋ m'a ŋwa.
25Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, eat, asking no question for conscience' sake,
26for “the earth is the Lord’s, and its fullness.”
26 Zama «Ganda ya Rabbi wane no, nga nda hay kulu kaŋ go a ra.»
26for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.
27But if one of those who don’t believe invites you to a meal, and you are inclined to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for the sake of conscience.
27If one of them that believe not biddeth you [to a feast], and ye are disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience' sake.
28But if anyone says to you, “This was offered to idols,” don’t eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience. For “the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness.”
28But if any man say unto you, This hath been offered in sacrifice, eat not, for his sake that showed it, and for conscience sake:
29Conscience, I say, not your own, but the other’s conscience. For why is my liberty judged by another conscience?
29 Manti sanda ni bine lasaabo no ay go ga ne, amma day boro fa din wano. Zama ifo se no i g'ay hina neesi boro fo bine lasaabo boŋ?
29conscience, I say, not thine own, but the other's; for why is my liberty judged by another conscience?
30If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced for that for which I give thanks?
30 D'ay go ga ŋwa da saabuyaŋ, ifo se no i g'ay jance nda hari laalo, hay fo boŋ kaŋ se ay na Irikoy saabu?
30If I partake with thankfulness, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?
31Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
31 Yaadin gaa, d'araŋ go ga ŋwa, wala araŋ go ga haŋ, wala hay kulu kaŋ araŋ go ga te, kal araŋ ma ikulu te Irikoy darza se.
31Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
32Give no occasions for stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the assembly of God;
32Give no occasions of stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the church of God:
33even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.
33 Wa ciya danga ay cine, mate kaŋ hay kulu ra ay go ga kaan boro kulu se. Ay s'ay boŋ nafa ceeci, amma boro boobo wane, hal i ma du faaba.
33even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the [profit] of the many, that they may be saved.
