Deuteronomy

19

1When Yahweh your God shall cut off the nations, whose land Yahweh your God gives you, and you succeed them, and dwell in their cities, and in their houses;
1 Rabbi ni Irikoyo ga dumey din pati ka ni daŋ, ngey kaŋ yaŋ Rabbi ni Irikoyo g'i laabo no ni se, hala ni ga furo i gurbo ra ka goro i kwaarey d'i windey ra.
1When Jehovah thy God shall cut off the nations, whose land Jehovah thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses;
2you shall set apart three cities for you in the midst of your land, which Yahweh your God gives you to possess it.
2 D'a na woodin te, kala ni ma kwaara hinza fay waani ni boŋ se ni laabo kaŋ Rabbi ni Irikoyo na ni no mayray hari din bindo ra.
2thou shalt set apart three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee to possess it.
3You shall prepare you the way, and divide the borders of your land, which Yahweh your God causes you to inherit, into three parts, that every manslayer may flee there.
3Thou shalt prepare thee the way, and divide the borders of thy land, which Jehovah thy God causeth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every manslayer may flee thither.
4This is the case of the manslayer, that shall flee there and live: whoever kills his neighbor unawares, and didn’t hate him in time past;
4 Boro-wi woodin dumi ciine ra, nga kaŋ ga zuru ka koy noodin ka funa, nga neeya: Boro kaŋ na nga gorokasin wi, amma a mana cacar k'a te, zama a si konn'a za doŋ no.
4And this is the case of the manslayer, that shall flee thither and live: whoso killeth his neighbor unawares, and hated him not in time past;
5as when a man goes into the forest with his neighbor to chop wood, and his hand fetches a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slips from the handle, and lights on his neighbor, so that he dies; he shall flee to one of these cities and live:
5 Danga: da boro fo nda nga gorokasin koy saajo ra ka tuuri beeri, afo kambe go ga goy da deesi ka tuuri-nya beeri, amma deeso izo sandu ka fun boŋo gaa k'a gorokasino kar kal a bu, bora din koy ga zuru ka koy kwaarey din afo ra ka funa.
5as when a man goeth into the forest with his neighbor to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbor, so that he dieth; he shall flee unto one of these cities and live:
6lest the avenger of blood pursue the manslayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and strike him mortally; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he didn’t hate him in time past.
6 Zama daw* banakwa ma si boro-wiyo din gaaray da bine korno k'a to (zama fonda ga ku se), a m'a kar da buuyaŋ goobu, baa kaŋ a mana to buuyaŋ, zama a si konna bora za doŋ.
6lest the avenger of blood pursue the manslayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and smite him mortally; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.
7Therefore I command you, saying, You shall set apart three cities for yourselves.
7Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt set apart three cities for thee.
8If Yahweh your God enlarges your border, as he has sworn to your fathers, and gives you all the land which he promised to give to your fathers;
8And if Jehovah thy God enlarge thy border, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;
9if you keep all this commandment to do it, which I command you this day, to love Yahweh your God, and to walk ever in his ways; then you shall add three cities more for yourselves, besides these three:
9 Kala lordey wo kulu kaŋ ay go ga ni lordi nd'a hunkuna, ni m'i haggoy. Ni ma ba Rabbi ni Irikoyo k'a fondey gana duumi.
9if thou shalt keep all this commandment to do it, which I command thee this day, to love Jehovah thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, besides these three:
10that innocent blood not be shed in the midst of your land, which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance, and so blood be on you.
10 Zama i ma si kuri kaŋ sinda taali mun ni laabo kaŋ Rabbi ni Irikoyo ga ni no tubu din ra, hala kuri alhakku mo ma si dake ni boŋ.
10that innocent blood be not shed in the midst of thy land, which Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.
11But if any man hates his neighbor, and lies in wait for him, and rises up against him, and strikes him mortally so that he dies, and he flees into one of these cities;
11 Amma da boro fo konna nga gorokasin ka gumandi te a se, ka tun a gaa k'a kar da buuyaŋ goobu hal a bu, bora din zuru mo ka koy kwaarey din afo ra,
11But if any man hate his neighbor, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally so that he dieth, and he flee into one of these cities;
12then the elders of his city shall send and bring him there, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
12then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
13Your eye shall not pity him, but you shall put away the innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with you.
13Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.
14You shall not remove your neighbor’s landmark, which they of old time have set, in your inheritance which you shall inherit, in the land that Yahweh your God gives you to possess it.
14 Ni ma si ni gorokasin hirri seeda dagu, kaŋ doŋ borey sinji ni tubo ra, nango kaŋ ni ga tubu, laabo kaŋ Rabbi ni Irikoyo ga ni no nd'a ra, ni mayray hari no.
14Thou shalt not remove thy neighbor's landmark, which they of old time have set, in thine inheritance which thou shalt inherit, in the land that Jehovah thy God giveth thee to possess it.
15One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sins: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall a matter be established.
15 Seeda folloŋ ma si tun ka boro fo zeeri goy laalo, wala zunubi se, zunubi kulu kaŋ dumi a te boŋ. Seeda hinka wala ihinza me ra no i ga sanno tabbatandi.
15One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall a matter be established.
16If an unrighteous witness rise up against any man to testify against him of wrongdoing,
16If an unrighteous witness rise up against any man to testify against him of wrong-doing,
17then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before Yahweh, before the priests and the judges who shall be in those days;
17 kal i boro hinka kaŋ gonda kakawo ngey game ra, i ma koy Rabbi jine, da alfagey da ciitikoy kaŋ yaŋ go no jirbey din ra jine mo.
17then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before Jehovah, before the priests and the judges that shall be in those days;
18and the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness is a false witness, and has testified falsely against his brother;
18 Ciitikoy mo ga fintalyaŋ te da anniya. D'i di kaŋ wiiza, seeda din tangari wane no, a na tangari seeda te no nga nya-izo boŋ.
18and the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and have testified falsely against his brother;
19then you shall do to him as he had thought to do to his brother: so you shall put away the evil from the midst of you.
Woodin teeyaŋ gaa no araŋ ga laala kaa d'a araŋ game ra.
19then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to do unto his brother: so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee.
20Those who remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil in the midst of you.
20 Cindey mo ga maa ka humburu. I si ye mo ka laala wo dumi te araŋ game ra koyne.
20And those that remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil in the midst of thee.
21Your eyes shall not pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
21 Ni ma si di a bakarawo fa! Fundi no ga fundi bana, mo no ga mo bana, hinje no ga hinje bana, kambe no ga kambe bana, ce no ga ce bana.
21And thine eyes shall not pity; life [shall go] for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
