Genesis

20

1Abraham traveled from there toward the land of the South, and lived between Kadesh and Shur. He lived as a foreigner in Gerar.
1 Ibrahim tun noodin. A dira ka koy Negeb* laabu. A goro Kades da Sur game ra. A na yawtaray goray te Gerar laabo ra.
1And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the land of the South, and dwelt between Kadesh and Shur. And he sojourned in Gerar.
2Abraham said about Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
2And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister. And Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
3But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him, “Behold, you are a dead man, because of the woman whom you have taken. For she is a man’s wife.”
3 Amma Irikoy kaa Abimelek do cin hindiri ra ka ne a se: «Guna, nin da buuko ga saba waybora kaŋ ni sambu din sabbay se, zama boro fo wande no.»
3But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, because of the woman whom thou hast taken. For she is a man's wife.
4Now Abimelech had not come near her. He said, “Lord, will you kill even a righteous nation?
4 Amma Abimelek mana jin ka maan a gaa bo. A ne: «Ya ay Koyo, ni ga kunda adilante wi?
4Now Abimelech had not come near her. And he said, Lord, wilt thou slay even a righteous nation?
5Didn’t he tell me, ‘She is my sister?’ She, even she herself, said, ‘He is my brother.’ In the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands have I done this.”
5 Manti bora bumbo no ka ne ay se nga wayme no? Waybora bumbo mo ne nga arme no. Ay bina taali-jaŋay da kambe hananyaŋ ra no ay na woodin te.»
5Said he not himself unto me, She is my sister? And she, even she herself said, He is my brother. In the integrity of my heart and the innocency of my hands have I done this.
6God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this, and I also withheld you from sinning against me. Therefore I didn’t allow you to touch her.
6And God said unto him in the dream, Yea, I know that in the integrity of thy heart thou has done this, and I also withheld thee from sinning against me. Therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.
7Now therefore, restore the man’s wife. For he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, and you will live. If you don’t restore her, know for sure that you will die, you, and all who are yours.”
7 Sohõ binde, kala ni ma bora wando ye a se, zama nga wo annabi* no. A ga adduwa te ni se mo, hala ni ma funa. Da mo ni man'a ye, ma bay kaŋ daahir ni ga bu, nin da boro kulu kaŋ ga ti ni wane.»
7Now therefore restore the man's wife. For he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live. And if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.
8Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ear. The men were very scared.
Alborey mo humburu gumo.
8And Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ear. And the men were sore afraid.
9Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said to him, “What have you done to us? How have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done!”
9 Saaya din Abimelek na Ibrahim ce. A ne a se: «Ifo no woone kaŋ ni te iri se? Man no ay na taali te ni se, kaŋ se ni ga zunubi bambata candi ka kande ay boŋ, in d'ay koytara kulu. Ni na goy te ay se kaŋ mana hagu i m'a dumi te.»
9Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? And wherein have I sinned against thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? Thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.
10Abimelech said to Abraham, “What did you see, that you have done this thing?”
10And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?
11Abraham said, “Because I thought, ‘Surely the fear of God is not in this place. They will kill me for my wife’s sake.’
11 Ibrahim ne: «Zama ay goono ga sikka no hala daahir Irikoy humburkumay si no neewo, i m'ay wi mo ay wando sabbay se.
11And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place. And they will slay me for my wife's sake.
12Besides, she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.
12 Da cimi, ay wayme no, zama ay baabo ize no, amma manti ay nya ize no. A ciya ay se wande mo.
12And moreover she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife:
13It happened, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said to her, ‘This is your kindness which you shall show to me. Everywhere that we go, say of me, “He is my brother.”’”
13 A ciya mo, waato kaŋ Irikoy ne ay ma fatta ay baabo windo ra ka koy bar-bare, kal ay ci ay wando se ka ne: ‹Gomni kaŋ ni ga cabe ay se neeya: nangu kulu kaŋ iri ga koy, ni ma ne ay ya ni arme no.› »
13and it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt show unto me. At every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.
14Abimelech took sheep and cattle, male servants and female servants, and gave them to Abraham, and restored Sarah, his wife, to him.
14And Abimelech took sheep and oxen, and men-servants and women-servants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.
15Abimelech said, “Behold, my land is before you. Dwell where it pleases you.”
15 Abimelek ne: «A go, ay mayray laabo neeya ni jine. Ma goro naŋ kaŋ ni ga ba.»
15And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee. Dwell where it pleaseth thee.
16To Sarah he said, “Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver. Behold, it is for you a covering of the eyes to all that are with you. In front of all you are vindicated.”
A ga mo daabu boro kulu kaŋ go ni do se. Ni sinda taali mo boro kulu jine.»
16And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver. Behold, it is for thee a covering of the eyes to all that are with thee. And in respect of all thou art righted.
17Abraham prayed to God. God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his female servants, and they bore children.
17 Kala Ibrahim na adduwa te Irikoy gaa. Irikoy mo na Abimelek no baani, nga nd'a wando d'a wahayey, i na izeyaŋ hay koyne.
17And Abraham prayed unto God. And God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maid-servants. And they bare children.
18For Yahweh had closed up tight all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.
18 Zama Rabbi na gundey kulu kaŋ ga hay daabu Abimelek windo ra Ibrahim wando Saharatu sabbay se.
18For Jehovah had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah, Abraham's wife.
