Jeremiah

29

1Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, to the prophets, and to all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon,
1 Irimiya na tira hantum k'a samba a ma fun Urusalima ka koy tamtaray izey arkusu cindey do, da alfagey, da annabey, da jama kulu kaŋ Nebukadnezzar sambu Urusalima ka kond'ey Babila.
1Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders of the captivity, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon,
2(after that Jeconiah the king, the queen mother, the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the smiths, had departed from Jerusalem),
2(after that Jeconiah the king, and the queen-mother, and the eunuchs, [and] the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the craftsmen, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem,)
3by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), saying,
3 A na tira samba Eleyasa Safan izo da Gemariya Hilciya izo kambe ra, borey kaŋ yaŋ Yahuda bonkoono Zedeciya donton Babila bonkoono Nebukadnezzar se, i ma koy Babila. Tira ne:
3by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,) saying,
4Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, to all the captivity, whom I have caused to be carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon:
4 Yaa no Rabbi Kundeykoyo, Israyla Irikoyo ci tamtaray izey jama kulu se kaŋ yaŋ ay naŋ i ma fun d'ey Urusalima ka kond'ey tamtaray Babila, sanno neeya:
4Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all the captivity, whom I have caused to be carried away captive from Jerusalem unto Babylon:
5Build houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat their fruit.
5 Wa fuyaŋ cina araŋ boŋ se ka goro i ra. Araŋ ma kaliyaŋ tilam k'i nafa ŋwa.
5Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
6Take wives, and father sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; and multiply there, and don’t be diminished.
6 Araŋ ma wandeyaŋ hiiji, ka ize aru nda ize way yaŋ hay.
6Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; and multiply ye there, and be not diminished.
7Seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to Yahweh for it; for in its peace you shall have peace.
7 Araŋ ma gallo kaŋ ra ay konda araŋ ka daŋ tamtaray din baani ceeci, araŋ ma adduwa te Rabbi gaa a se, zama a baano ra no araŋ ga du araŋ wano.
7And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray unto Jehovah for it; for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
8For thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Don’t let your prophets who are in the midst of you, and your diviners, deceive you; neither listen to your dreams which you cause to be dreamed.
8 Zama yaa no Rabbi Kundeykoyo, Israyla Irikoyo ci: Wa si ta araŋ annabey da gunakoy kaŋ yaŋ go araŋ game ra m'araŋ halli.
8For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Let not your prophets that are in the midst of you, and your diviners, deceive you; neither hearken ye to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.
9For they prophesy falsely to you in my name: I have not sent them, says Yahweh.
Amma ay wo, Rabbi, ay ne ay man'i donton.
9For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith Jehovah.
10For thus says Yahweh, After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
10 Zama, yaa no Rabbi ci: Waati kaŋ jiiri wayya kaŋ ay ci Babila boŋ kubay, ay g'araŋ kunfa, ay m'ay gomni sanno toonandi araŋ se. Ay ga ye ka kande araŋ nango wo ra.
10For thus saith Jehovah, After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
11For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.
11 Yaa no Rabbi ci: Zama ay ga bay miiley kaŋ ay goono ga miila araŋ boŋ. Baani miilayaŋ no, manti masiiba wane bo, zama ay m'araŋ no kokoro hanno nda beeje.
11For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end.
12You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
12 Waato din gaa araŋ g'ay ce, araŋ ma koy ka adduwa te ay gaa, ay mo ga maa araŋ se.
12And ye shall call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart.
13And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
14I will be found by you, says Yahweh, and I will turn again your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places where I have driven you, says Yahweh; and I will bring you again to the place from where I caused you to be carried away captive.
Yaadin no Rabbi ci.
14And I will be found of you, saith Jehovah, and I will turn again your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places wither I have driven you, saith Jehovah; and I will bring you again unto the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
15Because you have said, Yahweh has raised us up prophets in Babylon;
15Because ye have said, Jehovah hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;
16thus says Yahweh concerning the king who sits on the throne of David, and concerning all the people who dwell in this city, your brothers who haven’t gone forth with you into captivity;
16 Guna, sanno neeya kaŋ Rabbi goono ga ci bonkoono boŋ kaŋ goono ga goro Dawda karga boŋ, da jama kulu boŋ kaŋ goono ga goro gallu woone ra, araŋ nya-izey nooya kaŋ yaŋ mana fatta ka koy tamtaray araŋ banda. --
16thus saith Jehovah concerning the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and concerning all the people that dwell in this city, your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;
17thus says Yahweh of Armies; Behold, I will send on them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that can’t be eaten, they are so bad.
17 Yaa no Rabbi Kundeykoyo ci: A go, ay go ga takuba nda haray da balaaw samba i gaa, ay m'i ciya sanda jeejay laalo, kaŋ si ŋwa a fumbo se.
17thus saith Jehovah of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so bad.
18I will pursue after them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth, to be an object of horror, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations where I have driven them;
18 Ay g'i gaaray da takuba, da haray, da balaaw, ay m'i ciya haŋ kaŋ ga laakal tunandi ndunnya mayray kulu ra. I ga ciya laaliyaŋ hari, da dambara hari, da donda-caray hari, da wowi hari ndunnya dumey kulu ra, nangey kaŋ yaŋ ay n'i gaaray ka kond'ey.
18And I will pursue after them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be tossed to and fro among all the kingdoms of the earth, to be an execration, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them;
19because they have not listened to my words, says Yahweh, with which I sent to them my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but you would not hear, says Yahweh.
19 Zama i mana hanga jeeri ay sanney se, yaa no Rabbi ci, sanney kaŋ ay doona ka samba i gaa ay tam annabey meyey ra, ay ga soobay k'i samba. Amma araŋ wangu ka hangan. Yaadin no Rabbi ci.
19because they have not hearkened to my words, saith Jehovah, wherewith I sent unto them my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith Jehovah.
20Hear therefore the word of Yahweh, all you of the captivity, whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.
20 Wa maa Rabbi sanno fa, araŋ tamtaray izey kulu, araŋ kaŋ ay sallama Urusalima ra araŋ ma koy tamtaray Babila.
20Hear ye therefore the word of Jehovah, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.
21Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he shall kill them before your eyes;
21 Yaa no Rabbi Kundeykoyo, Israyla Irikoyo ci Ahab Kolaya izo, da Zedeciya Maaseya izo boŋ, ngey kaŋ goono ga tangari annabitaray te araŋ se ay maa ra: A go, ay g'i daŋ Babila bonkoono Nebukadnezzar kambe ra, a g'i wi araŋ jine mo.
21Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie unto you in my name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;
22and of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captives of Judah who are in Babylon, saying, Yahweh make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;
22 I maayey mo no Yahuda tamtaray borey kulu kaŋ go Babila ra ga laaliyaŋ te d'a, i ma ne: «Rabbi ma ni ciya sanda Zedeciya nda Ahab cine, ngey kaŋ Babila bonkoono n'i tandara danji ra.»
22and of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captives of Judah that are in Babylon, saying, Jehovah make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;
23because they have worked folly in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken words in my name falsely, which I didn’t command them; and I am he who knows, and am witness, says Yahweh.
I salaŋ mo ay maa ra da tangari sanni kaŋ ay man'i lordi nd'a. Ay no ka bay i gaa, ay mo no ga ti seeda. Yaadin no Rabbi ci.
23because they have wrought folly in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbors' wives, and have spoken words in my name falsely, which I commanded them not; and I am he that knoweth, and am witness, saith Jehovah.
24Concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite you shall speak, saying,
24And concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite thou shalt speak, saying,
25Thus speaks Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, saying, Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
25 Yaa no Rabbi Kundeykoyo, Israyla Irikoyo ci: Ni na tirayaŋ samba jama kulu kaŋ go Urusalima ra se ni bumbo din maa ra, i koy mo Alfa Zafaniya Maaseya izo da alfagey kulu do. I ra ni ne:
25Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thine own name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
26Yahweh has made you priest in the place of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in the house of Yahweh, for every man who is mad, and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in the stocks and in shackles.
Follokom kulu kaŋ goono ga annabitaray te, kala ni m'a daŋ baka* nda calu* ra.
26Jehovah hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in the house of Jehovah, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in the stocks and in shackles.
27Now therefore, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who makes himself a prophet to you,
27 Sohõ binde, sabaabu woofo se no ni mana kaseeti Irimiya Anatot bora gaa, nga kaŋ goono ga annabitaray te araŋ se?
27Now therefore, why hast thou not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who maketh himself a prophet to you,
28because he has sent to us in Babylon, saying, The captivity is long: build houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat their fruit?
28 Zama a donton iri gaa neewo Babila ra ka ne, way: ‹Tamtara wo ga gay. Wa fuyaŋ cina ka goro i ra. Wa kaliyaŋ tilam k'i nafa ŋwa.› »
28forasmuch as he hath sent unto us in Babylon, saying, [The captivity] is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them?
29Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.
29 Alfa Zafaniya mo na tira caw annabi Irimiya hangey ra.
29And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.
30Then came the word of Yahweh to Jeremiah, saying,
30 Waato din binde Rabbi sanno kaa Irimiya do ka ne:
30Then came the word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah, saying,
31Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus says Yahweh concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, and I didn’t send him, and he has caused you to trust in a lie;
31 Kala ni ma donton tamtaray borey kulu gaa ka ne: Yaa no Rabbi ci Semaya Nehelami bora boŋ: Za kaŋ Semaya na annabitaray te araŋ se, ay man'a donton mo, hal a naŋ araŋ ma tangari cimandi,
31Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith Jehovah concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he hath caused you to trust in a lie;
32therefore thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed; he shall not have a man to dwell among this people, neither shall he see the good that I will do to my people, says Yahweh, because he has spoken rebellion against Yahweh.
32 woodin sabbay se yaa no Rabbi ci: A go, ay ga Semaya Nehelami bora gooji, nga nda nga banda kulu. Yaadin no Rabbi ci.
32therefore thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed; he shall not have a man to dwell among this people, neither shall he behold the good that I will do unto my people, saith Jehovah, because he hath spoken rebellion against Jehovah.
