15

1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer.
1 Ay no ga ti reyzin* nya tikse cimi-cimo, ay Baaba mo ga ti farkwa.
1I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
2 Kambe kulu kaŋ go ay ra kaŋ si ize hay, a g'a kaa. Wo kulu mo kaŋ ga izeyaŋ hay, a g'a hanse, zama a ma izeyaŋ hay ka tonton.
2Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh it away: and every [branch] that beareth fruit, he cleanseth it, that it may bear more fruit.
3 You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
3 Baa sohõ araŋ wo hananteyaŋ no, sanno kaŋ ay ci araŋ se sabbay se.
3Already ye are clean because of the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.
4 Araŋ ma goro ay ra, ay mo _ga goro|_ araŋ ra. Sanda mate kaŋ cine kambe si hin ka ize hay nga boŋ se, kala day a ma goro reyzin nyaŋo tiksa gaa, yaadin mo no araŋ si hin, kala nd'araŋ go ga goro ay ra.
4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
5 Ay no ga ti reyzin nya tikse, araŋ no ga ti kambey. Boro kaŋ ga goro ay ra, ay mo ga goro a ra, bora din ga ize boobo hay, zama da manti ay, araŋ si hin ka hay kulu te.
5I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for apart from me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
6 Boro kaŋ si goro ay ra, i g'a pati ka furu, danga mate kaŋ cine i ga te reyzin kambe se. A ga koogu. I g'i margu mo ka catu danji ra k'i ton.
6If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.
7 D'araŋ ga goro ay ra, nga no ay sanney go araŋ ra, hay kulu kaŋ araŋ ga ba, araŋ m'a ŋwaaray, araŋ ga du a mo.
7If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatsoever ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 “In this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples.
8 Mate kaŋ i g'ay Baabo beerandi neeya: araŋ ma ize boobo hay. Yaadin gaa no araŋ ga cabe kaŋ araŋ ya ay talibiyaŋ no.
8Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; and [so] shall ye be my disciples.
9 Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love.
9 Danga mate kaŋ cine ay Baaba ba ay, yaadin no ay mo ba araŋ. Araŋ ma goro ay baakasina ra.
9Even as the Father hath loved me, I also have loved you: abide ye in my love.
10 If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain in his love.
10 D'araŋ g'ay lordey gana, araŋ ga goro ay baakasina ra, danga mate kaŋ cine ay n'ay Baaba lordey gana ka goro a baakasina ra.
10If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
11 I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full.
11 Ay na hayey din ci araŋ se zama ay farhã ma bara araŋ ra, araŋ farhã mo ma to.
11These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy may be in you, and [that] your joy may be made full.
12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you.
12 Ay lordo neeya: araŋ ma ba care, danga mate kaŋ cine ay ga ba araŋ.
12This is my commandment, that ye love one another, even as I have loved you.
13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
13 Boro kulu sinda baakasinay kaŋ ga bisa woone: boro ma nga fundi no nga corey se.
13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you.
14 Araŋ ya ay coroyaŋ no, d'araŋ ga haŋ kaŋ ay g'araŋ lordi nd'a te.
14Ye are my friends, if ye do the things which I command you.
15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you.
15No longer do I call you servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I heard from my Father, I have made known unto you.
16 You didn’t choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
16 Araŋ mana ay suuban, amma ay no k'araŋ suuban k'araŋ daŋ araŋ ma koy ka izeyaŋ hay, araŋ izey mo ma goro, hala hay kulu kaŋ araŋ ga Baaba ŋwaaray ay maa ra, a ga woodin no araŋ se.
16Ye did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that ye should go and bear fruit, and [that] your fruit should abide: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
17 “I command these things to you, that you may love one another.
17 Haŋ kaŋ ay g'araŋ lordi nd'a ga ti: araŋ ma ba care.
17These things I command you, that ye may love one another.
18 If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you.
18 Da ndunnya konna araŋ, araŋ ma bay kaŋ a konna ay za a mana konna araŋ.
18If the world hateth you, ye know that it hath hated me before [it hated] you.
19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
19 D'araŋ ya ndunnya wane yaŋ no, doŋ ndunnya ga ba nga waney, amma za kaŋ araŋ wo manti ndunnya wane yaŋ no, amma ay n'araŋ suuban ka kaa waani ndunnya ra, woodin sabbay se no ndunnya ga konna araŋ.
19If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his lord.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also.
20 Araŋ ma fongu nda sanno kaŋ ay ci araŋ se: ‹bannya si bisa nga koyo›. D'i n'ay gurzugandi, i g'araŋ mo gurzugandi. D'i n'ay sanno gana, i g'araŋ wano mo gana.
20Remember the word that I said unto you, A servant is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.
21 But all these things will they do to you for my name’s sake, because they don’t know him who sent me.
21 Amma i ga hayey din kulu te araŋ se ay maa sabbay se, zama i s'ay dontonkwa bay.
21But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.
22 D'ay mana kaa ka salaŋ i se, doŋ i sinda zunubi, amma sohõ i sinda ngey zunubey se kobay.
22If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no excuse for their sin.
23 He who hates me, hates my Father also.
23 Boro kaŋ ga konna ay, a ga konna ay Baaba mo.
23He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
24 If I hadn’t done among them the works which no one else did, they wouldn’t have had sin. But now have they seen and also hated both me and my Father.
24 D'ay mana goyey te i game ra kaŋ boro kulu mana te, doŋ i sinda zunubi, amma sohõ i di _goyey din|_, i konna in d'ay Baaba mo.
24If I had not done among them the works which none other did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
25 But this happened so that the word may be fulfilled which was written in their law, ‘They hated me without a cause.’
25 Amma woodin te zama i ma sanno toonandi kaŋ i hantum i Tawreto* ra ka ne: ‹I konna ay, sabaabu kulu si.›
25But [this cometh to pass], that the word may be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
26 “When the Counselor has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me.
26 Amma waati kaŋ Gaakwa ga kaa, kaŋ ay ga donton araŋ se a ma fun Baaba do, cimi Biya no kaŋ ga fun Baabo do, a ga seeda no ay boŋ.
26But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall bear witness of me:
27 You will also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.
27 Araŋ mo ga seeda no, zama araŋ go ay banda za sintina.
27and ye also bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
